In the backyard, playing and singing...this was shot as part of a campaign to raise funds to create a live dvd...it was successful! On November 25, at Mississippi Studios in Portland OR, I recorded a live dvd/cd with my new band!
I've listened to 2 other versions i could find (Bare Bones and Firecracker (Audiophile Edition SEA)), but this is still my favourite. It's been 5 years and this is still one of my favourite slide guitar songs! I hope you're doing well
@@JeiShian well, the first time I recorded it was on an album simply called Tony Furtado Band... I did it as a duet with Scott Amendola but it’s not as up tempo and doesn’t have Angeline the Baker in the middle... also I wasn’t singing so good. I’ve mostly kept this song combo as a fun live thing I do toward the end of a show...loads of RU-vid’s out there of me doing it though as it’s been requested a bunch over the years
pledged $ to help fund Tony Furtado's Kickstarter goals recording and releasing great music. I would be buying the album anyway. Supporters pledging in advance through networking online is a cool modern way for a musician to pay for an album release. Wishing you much success in your projects Tony Furtado. Keep up the good art work. Dgold Fayetteville Honest Tunes
Tony, you are amazing!- I discovered you on Pandora radio while I was on a little road trip to Tennessee with some friends maybe 3 or 4 years ago. The Ghost of Blind Willie Johnson was the song I heard played, and i'll never forget it, I've been interested ever since- keep up the great work man!
Brilliant! Slowly trying to pick up how to play 'Tony' style. David Lindley was right about (or was it Willy Porter?). The devil will have to wait in line to get lessons from Tony!
Sorry, I should have responded AGES ago! String height is pretty normal...nothing radical. I used slightly heavier strings though (.15- .17- .27- .35- .45- .56) and somehow this little guitar holds it all together when I tune all the way down to B!
Tony what tuning do you use on The Ghost of Blind Willie Johnson, and the vid in your backyard (think it's Cypress Grove Blues) Old school sound, new school tone. You are one of the best if not the best slide players I have heard. If I start playing 10 hours a day, I hope I can get half as good as you before I die !!! Thanks for inspiring me.
@williamanesbitt THANKS! Please pass this on to friends if you feel like it...really trying to get word around about the Kickstarter fundraiser. Anyway, thanks for commenting!
OK I pledged $25 bucks to a worthy cause... if I lived closer to Portland, I'd get together with 99 of my friends and do the concert. Hope you git 'er dun. Actually it's a pretty good deal for both audio and video. That way all the stuff I can't steal just by listening I'll also be able to watch :-)
