I have this thing with self determination too, when i put my mind to something and i also think i have skateboarding to thank for that. Skated from '89 to about '96. You simply can not learn skateboarding without falling down & gettiing back up on your feet a zillion times over. No way around it. Every skater is a very self determined person, no way around it.

Wildtard Just stand on it in the grass or something so the board doesn't roll to get your balance right. Then when you're confident enough to go on the pavement, push with your back foot and lean on the board with your front foot. Put most of your weight on your front foot, because if you don't, the board will go flying out in front of you. Don't lean to foward though, or else you'll eat the sidewalk... But look up tutorials on RU-vid on how to push and get your stance and stuff, Braille Skateboarding and RIDE Channel both have really good tutorials. And when you get better, they have more complicated stuff too.
