After grappling with this speedrun for several days with no success, I'm kicking myself for not watching your run more closely. There are so many things you do that make so much sense (locations to grind for speed, setups for angles, etc). I'm probably a long long way from getting anywhere near close to this time but my THPS1 brain can at least wrap my head around the micro-routing
Four or five seconds without changing anything other than execution. The mistake in Skatestreet is the only reason this isn't 2:4x. I ideally could have both heats each at three seconds IGT.
sick. would settling for 3rd in the competitions not make a faster any%? also, is there a reason for still grabbing cash after you're done buying stats?
Thanks! Gold medals give you more cash and total cash along with medal count determines which levels are unlocked. Part of the routing is getting exactly the total cash needed for unlocking the next level. And Bullring i just went for gold because i wanted to.
how did you get the scores so fast? the skatestreet level is just insanely quick i can barely do sub-10 run because i spend so much time getting the scores
I rely a lot on a glitch called degree add-on. If you look at Skatestreet, I spin during each ollie and only grind for a short period. Doing this can cause the game to apply the spin to only the first trick in the combo instead of throughout multiple tricks. With the way spin affects your score multiplier, this earns points much faster.
Rodney has low air, decent speed, and good ollie which are all important. He also has the airwalk and 360 flip which make score much easier. His 1 less speed point means you lose about a second in hangar but it feels like you make that up with minimizing time in the air. Speed gets maxed out after hangar regardless.
