Tony Hawk's Underground is so good. For me, the story was the best part. While a very simple story, I got surprisingly into it. I was genuinely surprised at the double cross. The game does a good job of making you really hate Eric through out the story. I remember playing through the story mode several times unlocking the different characters. I never really played much of THUG2, I just remember the main story being about vandalizing stuff, which to me just felt so immature. It was definitely influenced by Jackass, which I never really got into.

I played this one a lot. I remember once you did the final skate against Eric that first time , the second time skips that last boss battle and a cutacene happens . you punch eric in the face and take the tape.

I use to love TH games back in the day, spending hours building a nice park. I'd always turn down the settings to low so it would feel more like real life skating. But damn after playing the skate demo back on ps3 it was so hard to go back to that push A or B type of gameplay. Hell I still the demo on my old ps3.

VANCOUVER WAS MY FREAKING JAM!!!! I remember finding that unlockable by being able to score a goal in the rink by grinding the glass border. The music was god tier as well. So freaking good, I jam to it at work!!! Man I want to play Underground so much right now. And the story was fucking epic. They made such an awesome character to hate as well. Eric Sparrow, Fuck that guy!!!

The earlier Tony Hawk games are fun but I’m more nostalgic for THUG/THAW, the unique story and the fact that you can get off your skateboard adds a new dimension.

I preferred American Wasteland sure but that's because I was a sad little teenager with no friends. Going back to these as an adult, THUG is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. Well, apart from the driving section but we don't talk about that.

The voice acting was terrific in this game, even from the pro skaters (especially Muska & Bam). This really was the pinnacle of the series and I couldnt even play THUG 2 as it basically Jackass. I dont know about the rest of you but I could NEVER make it to the other ramp when you fly over the helicopter, I always landed just short but the game let me progress anyway. This is the remake we all want!

I didn't get this one despite liking the demo, I don't know why honestly as I had been a big fan of 3 and 4 too (sadly didn't begin with 1 and 2). I ended up going back with American Wasteland and I absolutely loved it. I appreciate that there's been so many great Tony Hawk games, you gotta give credit to Neversoft for their high quality bar

For me, 4 is the peak of the series. I'm probably biased because I was 13 and right in the pocket for the target demographic when it came out though. Although I got many joyful hours out of THUG, it seems to be where the series started to lose its way and getting off track. The driving sections and most of the off-skateboard stuff seemed like dumb gimmicks. Regardless, I'll never forget the moment SPOILERS AHEAD SPOILERS AHEAD SPOILERS AHEAD when I beat the game for the second time and the PC punched Eric in the jaw instead of accepting his "one more trip around the neighborhood" challenge. That was gold. 😂

THUG is the first game I ever beat when I was a kid on my gamecube. It got to the point where I would start a new game Saturday morning on Sick mode and have it beat by 3 or 4 that afternoon. I love that game so much. Shame we'll never see a remaster since Neversoft is ded.

Underground is *severely* underrated. And while the story mode may seem basic nowadays, that shit was revolutionary for a sports game in 2003. The fact that this game lets you Caveman and get 1,000,000+ point combos more consistant makes the Pro Skater series irrelevant to me at this point. Also, Eric Sparrow for Smash.

@@TKsMantis probably never because whenever they were doing the hangar level for the pro skater 1 and 2 remakes they removed Bam from the cover of Tony hawk underground 2 so as far as I know the owners of the Tony hawk franchise I'm not sure about Tony himself but at least the people that make the games are trying to distance themselves from Bam.

I loved the openness of the THUG series. Just being able to get off the board was such a great addition mechanically for setting up tricks or getting around more precisely. Plus being able to explore without a set time limit was nice.

I think it was weird how Eric was in underground 2 but they never really did anything with him like he was just kind of there in the cutscenes he didn't directly talk to you or anything he just kind of hung around. Like I literally don't even think they say his name

Right? I always assumed the skater you play as was supposed to be the same skater from THUG1, considering they get you at the Jersey level. But it also doesn't have to be, which is why they probably decided to keep it neutral with Eric. At least he still gets clowned which is always deserved and satisfying

I love that Eric became a reoccurring annoying character that everyone in the games hate. I think he’s in thug 2 but proving ground if I remember right he’s like a super car rich guy pro skater Edit also chad muska in this game was awesome

You never showed the secret ending, You get it after you beat the game a second time on the same difficulty you beat your first playthrough on You get to skip the last mission and get to watch an alternative end cutscene.

You don't actually "skip" it. I recently did a 100% playthrough of THUG1 (all gaps, story mode on all difficulties, etc.) and on my last (Sick) playthrough he punched Eric but the goal wasn't completed so I had to do it again to complete all goals. Thankfully the goal isn't really hard anyway so I just did it.
