@@noahadamson4642 definitely wouldnt tony had no respect or patience and was far from humble. Manny kept him humble. Every move tony did was stupid and violent like sleeping with his boss wife etc. Manny was a lot humble and patient then tony was. Only mistake many had was women. Which cost his friend to die in that drug deal and himself at the end of the movie.
@@noahadamson4642 I'm actually pretty familiar with the drug business but that's not something I just throw around. But your assumption seemed very direct, which I found odd.
I feel like he was thinking about calling Manny so he can help him get organized but then instantly remembered that he killed Manny and totally regrets it. It seems like he woke up back to reality and all the anger started to wear off.
Tony wouldnt of got that far without manny. Tony had no respect or patience and was far from humble. Manny kept him humble. Every move tony did was stupid and violent like sleeping with his boss wife etc. Manny was a lot humble and patient then tony was. Only problem manny had was women. Which cost his friend to die in that drug deal and himself at the end of the movie.
This part was so overlooked because of the epic shootout. The moment of clarity and realization that his whole world collapse and is just a shell of himself
Yeah this is when he momentarily came to his senses and became the Tony of old again, touching his heart as if to show he was heartbroken about what he had just done (or could have just been the coke lol), but then he had to go to war so he went back into psycho mode
It shows that Tony Montana is a sociopath. Not a psychopath. He has an extremely skewed moral compass, but he does have interpersonal relationships like Manny.
@@ayvzu Manny should have known better not to fuck with the sister a maniacal drug pin psychopath, especially after being warned. And tbh Tony was right in not wanting his sister to deal with a womanizer and similarly criminal guy like Manny.
@@MichaelGiordano777 you talking about manny who almost let tony get killed in the beginning cus he too busy worried about ass? Or when he pushed to have tony wash his money wit mannys guy? Or when he sleeps wit tonys sister after being warned?
Im actually fucking amazed how The Godfather and this movie almost have a 10 year difference and Pacino does amazing playing two different gangsters on the throne.
@@noyes9885 tony would’ve went to jail for it I believe deep down he was suppose to kill the speaker but be the fall guy for it yea he’ll get the tax evasion charge out the way but he’ll have to deal with a murder charge tony should’ve just went to jail for the tax evasion and just avoided the whole sosa deal
I remember watching this movie for the first time, after he killed Manny I was waiting for this moment. If they didn’t show him acknowledging and regretting killing his best friend and making the biggest mistake of his life it makes him less of a character imo
What’s great about this is the initial “Gotta get organised here”… it’s such a real moment… you’re in a situation where you think right pucker up let’s fight the good fight but sadly it’s only delusion. As you end up crashing and burning at the reality of the happenings. Great writing
Manny was the most loyal person to tony aside the others manny put his life on the line for Tony more times than ever but was killed for fooling with Tony’s sister but manny is the best fit for Gina it’s a shame Tony never saw it in his own eyes
How was he a best fit? He resembled tony lol he wasnt no good match n tony knew that. What brother/dad would want his daughter/sister to mess with a man whos like them? Lol
@@lowwendd578 Manny wouldn’t have married a woman if he didn’t want to be tied down. He was clearly serious about Gina. His only mistake is not confessing to Tony about his feelings for Gina.
That feeling as you sit on your coach, ashtray filled to the brim and smoke clouds the whole room. White stripes and sticky spots of alcohol on the table. God, what do I hate that stuff, yet there’ll always be the urge for more of those nights.
Yep about 10 years ago i was always on the bag sessions, when the music stops and the boys go home, and it starts to wear off, you sink the little bit deeper into the depression and darkness and thoughts. Not a pretty situation to be in.
When addiction.drugs or alcohol is involved it's the people you love most that are the first to suffer and your left with what you've done to the ones you cared for the most..I feel his pain and regret
This scene hits hard. He literally almost gave himself a heart attack at the realization of what he did to his best friend. That kind of pain you feel deep in your heart.
Somehow I looked over this scene I know he lowly mentions his name but looking at it now he actually tried to call manny and then realizes wow I killed my best friend and he's not coming back the blatant regret in his face like he's gonna be sick well what a timeless film
Man they should show this to put kids off drugs, mans sitting there surrounded by everything he could ever want, but the dead look in his eyes shows what it cost him.
What Tony never realized and accepted was that he needed help and needed to go to a drug rehab or something. Drugs is what completely ruined his life. It was because of his ruthless lifestyle in the coke business, that he lost his mother, his friend Angel, lost his best friend Manny, lost his sister, lost his wife, lost his empire and lost his life.
@@TonyMontana-wz3hg it was heartbreaking that he mentioned his best friend, but he felt very guilty that he accidently killed him in front of his own sister when he was so high because of cocaine. You see that he didn't want to cry when he collapsed on that chair 💔😔 He was very desperate and didn't know what to do. His world came to an end. My favorite scene of Al Pacino.
Manolo was like a brother. He would have been his brother had he not died. Once the drugs and anger wore down he missed manny. Probably was a knife to the heart once he remembered.
Hey thanks this. Seen it 100 times and i always thought it was the coke. Never understood what he actually said there. It was on VHS and no surround sound back then 😂
plus you gotta remember tony and manny was in the army so they definitely would've put up a fight. Honestly i dont think tony wouldve went back to the mansion if he didnt kill manny. After he killed manny he wasnt thinking straight at all. He was going to manny to setup a plan but him killing manny and taken his sister out of there threw him off.
Manny and Gina were all he had, after this he couldn’t bring himself to kill Gina even though she was ready to take him out because then he would have nothing. That’s why after they killed her his sole mission was to take out everyone involved until they got the drop on him.
Once he came down off that coke high and the endorphin rush wore off he realized how irrational he acted and that he really just killed his best friend. Still amazing acting by Al, it’s so subtle and simple but tragic in a poetic way
he realized that grave mistake earlier. When Gina told him that they got married he wanted to go back to Manny into the mansion. The whole reaction came from the fact that he was already heated searching for his sister going to his best friends home and finding him and his missing sister in bathrobes smiling down on him. In that moment he thought they were mocking him and Manny the known womenizer hooked up with his sister. After Gina told him they got married his whole attitude changed even in that scene. I think if there was anyone Tony would have accepted next to his sister it would have been his best friend Manny.
Manny was not a business man, he prioritize getting ass over making money. Tony was thinking off of emotion when he killed manny , but It was dumb to let him run day to day operations. Tony needed a 2nd right hand man.
When I played the world is yours for the first time i remeber placing Manny's remains in Tony office next to Gina's. Tony says a few lines bout how he misses em both. Really sad tbh.
That is what happened when he chose that life of a gangster boss. His actions can created consequences he had no control over and may led up to his own destruction.
Manny did nothing except loves his sister (in which she's consent and loved him too), if anything, Tony should be proud that one of the only person he can trust became his family This prove Tony never actually respected nor looks up to Manny on his good side, he's just thinks of him as a friend with bad habits and shitty lifestyle that won't do any good for his sister (ironically which is exactly what Tony are)
I think they should have had manny and Gina live and walk away from the life at the end. It always seemed like throughout the movie manny started to see that they were going too far and wanted to settle down.
@@johncampbell9107 Fredo was a snitch to his own family Manny did nothing except loves his sister (in which she's consent and loved him too), if anything, Tony should be proud that one of the only person he can trust became his family This prove Tony never actually respected nor looks up to Manny on his good side, he's just thinks of him as a friend with bad habits and shitty lifestyle that won't do any good for his sister (ironically which is exactly what Tony are)
Fred Williamson said it best when he was talking about this film in the Bullets Over Hollywood documentary he did in fact put himself in a position where he was going to become self-destructive Al Pacino did a magnificent job on this 1
When I was a kid I had a hammster, my hammester bited my finger while I was gently petting it, it hurted a lot and my finger bleeded, in a instant moment of rage I throw my hammster in to the floor and he died, at the same time I regret the murder, we need to control those moments,
some people do this with their wife. Maybe everyone should get a hamster first, to prevent them becoming a murder cause some chick kicked you in the balls?
@@riesenbuhai I became a buddist, it changed my whole life after I murdered my hammster, I don't eat barbecue, I'm vegan, Indeed, let's all buy hammesters, I hold up your cause, every murder should buy a hammster! When I dream I see him.
Tony totally lost his way when he killed Manny, the only friend he ever had and could rely on. Every man who got his wits together would happily marry his sister to a man like Manny. But then, "Scarface" is a totally twisted version of the tale of the "american dream" - which makes ist a great story.
Even if Tony survives that shootout, and no matter how much money he makes, he will never go back to the days when he and Manny were fooling around. When I saw this scene, it reminded me of the scene before Tony became a drug lord. The scene where Manny sticks out his tongue to pick up a girl and the girl hits him...
Tony Is The Only One Who Killed Almost Everbody When He Was Angry He Has Starting To Kill Everybody Even Manny If Manny Is Gone Tony Will Be Wouldn't Survive Beacuse Manny Is The Only One That Helps Tony All The Time Until His Death😢😢
