@@MichaelIp i just happen to live on church street in yarmouth maine...200 plus year old Baptist meetinghouse at the end of the street; we're the closest residence to it. i always tell myself we're literally living in the shadow of God's house...
Lord I been hangin' out of town in that low down rain Watchin' good time Charlie friend is drivin' me insane Down on shady Charlotte Street the green lights look red Wish I was back home on the farm in my feather bed. Get myself a rockin' chair To see if I can lose Them thin dime hard times Hell on Church Street blues. Found myself a picker friend who's read yesterday's news Folded up page twenty-one and stuck it in my shoe Gave a nickle to the poor my good turn for the day Folded up my own little folder threw it far away. Lord I wish I had some guitar strings Old Black Diamond brand I'd string up this old Martin box and go and join some band But I guess I'll just stay right here just pick and sing a while Try to make me a little change and give them folks a smile
You know what separates tony from the others, other than training in other styles? He puts an individual mark on everything he does that you will ALWAYS remember.
Thank you teaching me how to play, Tony. Not in person, but through your albums and videos. Sorry that I never really got all the way there but I was happy all the same. I’m so grateful to have had you in my lifetime.
There are several guys doing studies on his playing style, ability to lead a band methodology as well as his incorporation of jazz into bluegrass on RU-vid. Good luck and God speed :) He is a major inspiration to myself included.
Such an amazing musician! I have learned this tune almost note for note by ear, but it still doesnt do it justice. Love you Tony! I pray you recover soon.
@@lucianofernandes8609 He passed now, but he had muscle tension dysphonia which took his voice, and I know he was struggling with other health problems along with his wife Pam. (This is the same person but on a different account.)
+Anthony Gomes --- I recently just discovered Tony Rice, and any avid fan of bluegrass can appropriate his music. He also has a very deep and diverse discography
I gave up trying to learn this after 5 months of getting the intro before the vocals. It don’t get much harder than this especially after watching the instructional video
Hopefully its not still taboo at this point still but three years ago is when alot of folks started having heart attacks due to you know what - I unfortunately wonder if this too was the root for Tony’s heart attack at 69. Not uncommon for that age esp given the musician’s hardships on the body - but still i wonder
