It was pretty cool when you could see the drivers head/helmet but I have to say that the new wind screen has a fighter jet look that's pretty badass too.
Because the recording was taken straight from the feed in the booth and not from outside in the crowd. But I thought the same thing at first. Then I realized.
Diamond P days long gone, Even Wide World of Sports had better coverage than this but then again Drag Racing had far more popularity than it does now. Today a family of 4 attending a national meet will fork over 360 bucks on average in admission alone unless the kids are under 12. Back in the day (1970s/early 80s) it cost 22 dollars for me to get in at Indy (as a spectator).
They should really hire younger individuals for covering their races, youtubers who film top fuel races is more exciting than this. I just don't understand how such exciting cars and races look so boring in this.
NHRA has the WORST tv deal, no Friday coverage. What happened to Friday Nitro ? Promoted properly that could have gotten ratings but Noooooooooo.. Local listings are always wrong 1/2 the time or preempted by a crappy college basketball or soccer game...
Salute! . You really have to work for it to be able to watch. They have some strange time slots and flip to sister stations with delays - it's taped anyway, wtf?
NHRA's coverage died when they move to FS1. Nothing but ads, weird disjointed coverage, terrible sound and Brian Lohnes just flapping his yap nonstop. Someone just uploaded a bunch of old races from the early 00's a couple weeks ago. Go check them out. The coverage was a million times better. I miss Mike Dunn.
What can you say about Tony Stewart He's a winner knows how to treat people I think I hope That's what makes him a winner I'm glad to see he got married and he settled him down but he's not through not by a long shot Go Tony
@@PeteyWheatstraw585Gordon just started earlier. From Stewart's rookie season in 99 till he retired, he and Gordon had very similar stats and Stewart won 3 championships while Gordon won just one in that time span. And Stewart is the far superior driver overall. He's competed in many more different motorsport disciplines and has been successful in every single one. Tony is the greatest driver in motorsports history, Gordon is just a great stock car driver.
Used to watch the snake and mongoose and Don garlits.those days are gone. Pro stock switched to fuel injection. One day there will be electric dragsters.hope I'm gone before that happens!
NHRA is slowly losing sponsorship/teams where some races the elimination brackets aren’t even filled. The fan participation is also thinning out. And look at the trash TV scheduling.
I just want to state the obvious, Tony is probably ready to run TF, but theirs many if not thousands of people who are more qualified and ready to run top fuel!
Those people most likely just remember that a stoned idiot ran out on a track at night in a black suit with cars running around and got himself killed.
@@acepilotson3331 yes, the kid was killed and Tony was driving the car that killed him, that doesnt mean he murdered him. It was an accident, an avoidable one at that. If Kevin Ward would have stayed in his car and not ran out into traffic, he wouldnt have been killed.
@@warrenmichael918 jumping out of your race car and expressing your anger like that under caution is a common occurrence at every track and during most events. Nobody dies because the drivers don’t steer towards the angry person and stomp on the gas and try to “roost” him. Tony himself is guilty of that behavior but…. Celebrity worship is crazy.
@@acepilotson3331 Thats how we know you are clueless about what actually happened. He wasnt trying to "roost" him. These cars dont turn like your pinto, you need to blip the throttle to get it to turn with the solid axle. He also didnt steer towards him , he turned away from him, thats why the idiot ate the rear tire and not the front bumper.
