Forget about the "tad bit more" and get a whole lot more by finding the independent bottlings like the Alexander Murray & Co 15yr Dalmore 1999 @55.6% for $120 or less, blows the Cigar Malt & 18yr out of the water and although I havent the King Alexander Im willing to bet it defeats it hands down as well. Dalmore brand is like Hennessy or Remy Martin, they offer an overpriced, muted, watered down house style that they market to the consumer for big bucks as luxury product. Yes, they do make and possess highly delicious spirits but because of their brand goals the consumer will never taste those as official bottlings for under $1000 when you can find equal value products in the $60 to $120 range.

If you want a sherry scotch try glenallechie 12 as it is about £50 and fantastic

I have almost bought it a few times, but the price has scared me off.

Not missing anything special. You'd have to get the other offerings which are way more expensive.

Even at 40% and artificial coloring it’s still good!!

Nice review, how long do you let your pour sit in the glass before you go in to start nosing and tasting? Cheers!

Typically 10-15 minutes. 15 minutes is enough time to let everything settle.

If I have you $75 to buy Scotch, would you pick up this Dalmore? Or something else?

I definitely like it, but at 100 bucks a bottle in my neck of the woods there are other bottles that I'd put ahead of it.

40% doesn't bother me like it does some people. I can rattle off a few Scotch selections that are 40% and great.

Excellent review, for $75 this would be a pass from me. If you like peated whisky, look into the Port Charlotte 10 year, in my opinion, it beats the pants off Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig. In fairness, the Port Charlotte is a little more expensive than either Ardbeg or Laphroiag, but again (IMO) it's money well spent.

Great review. I have not tried the Dalmore 12 yet, I do like whisky aged in sherry cask. Maybe when the tariff drops off it might be worth it. Thank you sir. Cheers!

It's not bad. But you could get an Arbelour matured in sherry cask that is similar for a lower price. Thanks again for watching. I appreciate your support!

Was tempted earlier in the year to get the Glenmorangie Tale of Cake, which was around $89 in our area...prob purchase that before Dalmore 12.

I promise you I walked around the store for like ten minutes holding a bottle of Glenmorangie in my hand, debating whether or not to try my hand. Ended up putting it back and getting something I was disappointed in. Lesson learned is always go with your instincts.

It’s a solid $50 whisky, my local has it for $65 and I have a bottle still unopened I bought for $50, but as it goes up in price I find myself looking at other options. The 15 year at $140 I bought one time and won’t touch again, nor the 18 year at $200.

@@whiskeynightcaps6956 agreed Dalmore 12 was the scotch that made me love Scotch coming from bourbon. So it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I think they are making us pay for the 12 year age statement. Personally, I would not pay $75 for something with a watered down mouth feel. I do like smooth finishes with minimal burn, but I agree that 40 percent APV is certainly on the low end. I would likely find myself drinking more of this than I should, just to get anything out of it. Thanks for the shout out!👊
@whiskeynightcaps6956
@whiskeynightcaps6956 3 года назад
I do appreciate a smooth finish but the $75 for this whiskey is questionable. There's some blends that are better 4 for about $40 less.

@@whiskeynightcaps6956 absolutely! There's just so much quality readily available on the shelves you can get any day of the week, without even going on a bourbon hunt. Russell's 10 yr is just one example. I had a glass of this before bed, and my wife, who likes nothing but sweet drinks, thought It smelled like a margarita. 🤣
