My great grandfather was Hugo Schloss. He was the first person to manufacture lace in the US. I adore you! I learn so much about antiques and collectibles from your videos. Thank you!
Late for your feed but that’s the way my life rolls. In this case, I’ll enjoy your brilliant content anyway, I guarantee. George, The Antique Nomad, thank you for the opportunity to see this upload at whatever time it’s convenient for me. You’re one of my favorite RU-vidrs that I to watch for entertainment purposes, by the way. ❤🎉❤🎉❤
Thank you , George !! You and those that follow you are fun to be 'with', in the chats 😊 So glad to have seen this video live !! The peo at the appraisal seemed so pleased with your presentaion.
Shoot, I wasn’t notified, so I didn’t get to participate in the chat. But this was sure fun to watch. I checked, and I hadn’t checked “All” under notify me, so it was on personalized. It’s fixed now! I love watching you spew all of your incredible knowledge, George, and appreciate when you say, “I don’t know,” too! To me, that’s a sign you’re humble and brilliant.
Hi George. Got here about 15 minutes late, but wanted to try to watch tonight. Lots of interesting items and information. My favourite was the long German pipe. These appraisal premiers are my favourites.
I'm glad! Not everyone seems able to sit through the deeper dives, but I think the added information is useful for more advanced and serious collectors like yourself
@@TheAntiqueNomad George, you've forgotten more than I ever knew. I've been out-of-the-loop so many years, getting re-educated is what I enjoy so much about these appraisal premiers. As you can imagine, at this time, I wasn't able to be 100% attentive, but this premier was, indeed, a fantastic distraction during this time. Thanks!
I can listen to you forever! After watching you, I feel more knowledgeable, thank you so much for all this interesting information! The jokes were good too!
Thank you so much for Sharing. I so enjoy your videos when you do appraisal. I always learn so much. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
This chat was lovely, but I waited the entire show to hear about the elephant and donkey…. Then nothing… it’s clear you discussed them as they were facing the other way. I would love to know more! By the way, these would make great shorts and reels!
Thank you so much for the response. I’m very interested in politics and would be the likely buyer of a set like that, if I were ever to run across the !
YIKES!! The leg brace on the table on the right is not locked in place. A disaster waiting to happen. Always make sure to lock those in to prevent collapse😮
There's truth to the size thing also relating to hats, but I read all about the weapon story at the Henry Ford Museum when they did a Suffragism display for the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote
That is absolutely true from a technical standpoint. However, "Indian Head Penny" is the common name most people in the USA use to describe those, so I used the colloquial term I felt would most understood by the audience at hand.
Of course most people call them pennys. I just find it a fun fact that they are actually cents. Most people just aren’t aware of that. I’m sure it’s because of the English penny that people in the US started calling them pennys.
I didn't include the preface, where I told the audience that I would give them realistic current selling prices in their area, rather than insurance values or fair market value, or a price that might be achieved in a more expensive market. I hear other appraisers give lofty values that might be attainable by professional antique dealers in high-end markets, but most people do not have access to those customers because they are not professional dealers and they are not selling to a high-end clientele necessarily.
