Too Many BIG Plants - thinning out.

I created my exotic jungle garden nearly two years ago.I enthusiastically shoved loads of jungle type plants in there, things like tetrapanax, fatsia, canna lily, persicaria, colocasia esculenta, colocasia pink china, exotic ginger plants, tree fern, trachycarpus and many more. Unfortunately in my excitement I over planted and overcrowded my garden. So now I need to decide which can stay and which need to be relocated. The border is over crowded and needs to be thinned out. In this video I explain my plan and rationale I also have a look inside the fernery which is also looking lush and green. I visit the bamboo hedge and talk about the bamboo barrier which can be seen in the following video:

Greetings from Ireland, Interesting video and lovely garden, We don't have tropical plants or ferns. Slugs and snails are attracted to the yeast in beer. I have hostas in pots and in the flower beds. I use slug traps but I don't use beer I make a slug bait to pour into the traps. One cup of water, one teaspoon flour, one teaspoon of sugar, one teaspoon of dry yeast and two teaspoons of salt. I call it the carrot and stick method the yeast lures them in and the salt zaps the fuppers. Also if you have pots lift them and you will find them hiding during the day. Lets just say they don't stay there long. Also snails sometimes hide under the hostas and they really damage your hostas you can send them flying into you next door neighbours.

Looking great Mark👌I’ve recently fallen in love with the ferns in my garden and never paid them much attention previously. I’ve recently divided a few which had grown quite large and replanted throughout my borders. I’m adding other planting which complements the ferns and the difference it makes to my birders is quite striking. Dividing was fairly straightforward as they seem to lift fairly easily and don’t have roots that are too extensive. They seem to be doing well so far. I wondered if you’ve divided any of your ferns, which I must say all look wonderful, to free up space or just get extra plants for free.

It will be interesting to see how you get on moving the tetrapanax as I want to do the same thing. Mine got cut right back in the wet winter so I went to nobridge and bought 2 more, one of which I put very near my old one. I was quite surprised that the old one has since surpassed the new one, but I know they tend to "sulk" after being moved
