Just letting you know it is the year 2023, and my wife and I just bought a whole bunch of stuff for this game. We are learning how to play through your videos right now, so far you are doing an excellent job!!
I recently late pledged the final campaign, and after reading up on how difficult the rules learning is, I'm really glad I found your video. Ive watched the majority of your playthrough and I really appreciate the clarity with which you explain every step of the gameplay. I feel like this will be enough of a foundation to much more easily get through the read when the time comes. Thanks for making this!
Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words. It took me a while to get the rules down as well. Still make mistakes. I am glad you found this helpful and that’s why I do it! Thanks so much my friend. Cheers!
Really nice quality video and a great tutorial. Just got my Too Many Bones (almost everything in the collection) yesterday and looking forward to giving it a go. This tutorial helped. Thanks!
Pretty good playthrough. I'm still learning the game myself. The only thing I noticed I'm questioning is at 45:00 mark, you move picket, shouldn't this have reduced your dexterity for that turn? So instead of rolling 3 dice, you should have rolled 2. Correct me if I'm wrong. Keep it up tho.
Hey hey! You are spot on correct. The movement cost me one DEX so I would only have 2/3 left for the roll! Thanks so much for pointing that out. Will add it to the notes! MUCH APPRECIATED!
Just discovered your videos and channel. Great production quality (coming from a career camera operator). Looking forward to more videos, especially Spirit Island and Mage Knight!
Hey! Thanks so much. Appreciate the kind words and glad you found us. Hopefully we keep getting better over time as well. I do t think you will have to wait too long for your wish! 😉
Thank you for this video! Very well spoken, I just bought this game and this will help me tremendously to go off of something as I’m learning the ropes! You got a new sub here
Great video my friend. This was a gift to all new TMB players! I was wonderng where you got the clear "stoppers" at the ends of the chips in the chip tray?
Great video. One of these days I'll save up enough or trade for this gem. It feels like it can be overwhelming to pick up and play. Your playthrough really made it streamlined on how to play the game. As always thank you kind sir :).
Thank you. I put this one off for such a long time. Nothing I saw really grabbed me or it seemed way too much. I regret waiting so long now!! I appreciate your kind words. I was hoping to achieve that very thing. Be careful. I started with trading for the base game and then boom!! I ended up with it all! 😂peace friend!
2 years later, I have now played Unbreakable at Gen Con, and now own it, as well I have the base game on its way to me. Will be here on Thursday. Playing pure solo with Unbreakable and been loving every minute. So good.
Sorry for the delayed response. IF I remember correctly, it is forgedgaming.com/collections/dice-trays If not, I still highly recommend. Use mostly these trays. Not sponsored, they don't know I exist. :)
Wow, this was so well done! Thank you! Very easy to follow and great production quality- subscribed! What are your thoughts on the Trove Chest? It hadn’t been available for a while but with the new campaign it’s up for grabs again. I’m new to this game but it hits so many of the right notes for me. Is the Chest something I should consider snagging now while it’s available?
I love the trove chest. I don’t think it is a must and it is expensive. However, with limited space it keeps everything in one big square rather than the mounds of boxes. Also with the “pick and choose” nature of the game when you have expansions it is well organized and easy to just grab what you need. I do keep the splice and dice box empty if I want to grab a few things and take to a game day at the local cafe or shop cuz. That big box ain’t moving 😂. If space isn’t a concern and you don’t mind pulling down a few boxes every time you play or mostly play elsewhere then I’d say skip it. If you like organization, consolidation, and a quicker time to go from grabbing stuff to the table playing then I would say there’s no question that this is the only real storage solution for everything. I got it mainly because I don’t see this being a game that I ever get rid of and I have everything for it minus a few promos. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching the sun.
Hey. Sorry for the late response. Vacation. Thanks for the comment and kind words. The character trays come with the trove chest that Chip Theory sells. However, they do now sell them separately chiptheorygames.com/store/#!/Too-Many-Bones-Gearloc-Tray-2-Pack/p/297347364?gclid=CjwKCAjws8yUBhA1EiwAi_tpEaatTnconeRdefPXKs5GPIjjLWQaEOZf6fVjYcVf9q8nxeptq1yEKRoCpoAQAvD_BwE&TMB-ADD-027 Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Like others here, I watched your video (which was really helpful!) as I'm thinking of getting into TMB with the new Gamefound campaign. I'm thinking I either want Unbreakable or Undertow (as I only play solo and am conscious of cost). I guess you haven't played Unbreakable yet, but from what you have seen, which do you think would be best for a newbie, considering the Gearlocs you get with each game and the battle mat mechanics for each? Or would you really just recommend starting with the Base game? Thanks for you vids and help :)
Hey Matt. Thanks so much for asking. I have played undertow and am in on the unbreakable campaign. I think unbreakable, being the final expansion, seems more targeted at experienced players and fans than those new to TMB. I could be wrong and of course it is stand alone, but that’s my impression. Undertow is great if you want to dip a pinkie toe in but is pretty limited. I am I. The camp that the base is still the best deal for starting. It offers enough variety and gameplay to last for a good while. Undertow is just less, smaller and cheaper. I also think that when learning the game, the base characters and bosses are the easiest to learn with harder/more complex bosses also being present. I think the route I would advise if $ is not the main concern is get the base game and then after you’ve learned it and know you want to keep it, get a couple of expansion gearloks that appeal to you at your own rate. From there you can decide if you want to go the undertow route or splice and dice. But honestly by that time, most people just want it all and know it’s their jam! Hope that helps! Thanks again and ask anytime. Happy to help out. 😄
Hi Seth. Thanks for that. Glad you enjoyed. I believe they come with the lab rats expansion but am a tad unsure since all of my stuff is in the treasure trove together. But it makes sense so you don’t run out of health chips in a 4p game. Hope that helps. Best.
@@MeMyselfDice thanks! I’d complain that your answer comes a day after the PM for Unbreakable closed, but the truth is my question also came a day after the PM closed. :)
Oh man. That is a tough question. I’ve been a huge fan of MK for a long time. It’s been in my top games since about a year after it came out. So my default would be that. But I think TMB is a legit contender. I plan on doing my top solo games videos after we hit 1k subs. That’s means I’ll actually have to sit down and rank my fav. Games and be able to actually answer this great question better. 🤪 thanks for watching and asking. I’ll ponder.
True solo can be easier but it can be a little more swingy. Easy to hit a wall. But that may be poor strategy on my part too! Never played with 3. Not sure my brain and table space can handle that. 😝. My personal preference is 2 just because it unlocks more strategy than 1 and I can never pick just 1 character to play! 😂 Let me know your thoughts and experience of you so true solo or 3
Thanks for watching Sean! I do wish that it hadn’t taken may wallet for such a beating but I can’t say I regret it. I have played Jaws of the Lion but not Gloomhaven proper so I can’t weigh in. 😄Knowing my propensity not to finish campaign games I do like the modularity of too many bones.
Hi David. Sorry I had to go find the dice tray to give you more info. I got it from my local game store but they haven’t had another from that brand since. The brand is die hard dice. www.dieharddice.com I like it because it folds flat but doesn’t have the pinched sides. Well made. I keep meaning to buy a smaller square one for videos! Highly recommend.
Paul, can I ask for clarification? I have Baddies based on the rules: Baddie Points=day you are on times #of Gearlocs. So on day 2 with 2 gearlocs 2x2=4 Baddie Points. That would be 4 1pt baddies and zero 5pt baddies. Am I understanding correctly? Let me know. 😃
@@MeMyselfDice it is the number of baddie chips that you have in play, setting up I seem to have 29 1pt baddies available, I have checked and they all have the symbols listed on Drellen, is it because I also have undertow?
@@paulheald6053 Sorry Paul, I didn't get a notification about your follow-up. Yes I took out undertow baddies for this playthough so I would only be representing the base game. So that cuts back a bunch of the baddies possible. So sorry for the delayed response. hope that helps.
