I am so happy for you. Next month, September 19, 2022, 4 days after my 51 Birthday I start a CNA course. After this 4 month course, who knows I might go after Nursing. After reading your comment I feel even more encouraged. Thank you!!
You go girl. I am 47 and started nursing school this year in April 2020. Starting my physical assessment with clinicals and Pathophysiology this Monday. Love it so far although getting tougher but loving it. We got this !!! Would love to keep in touch with you Nicole. Send me an email Yoya1068 @ Gmail
I think age doesn't matter as long as you aren't on pension and able to learn something new. I will be 30 this coming april and currently doing a level 3 Diploma Nursing course in Oxford which I've applied for University for 2020 already, In my class there are people older than 40 to 50years and all learning to become nurses. Never let age stop you from reaching your dreams.
The oldest in my class ( BSN ) 2016 was 68 . He’s awesome n still working . I know more people in their 60s n 70s with tons of energy . More than me ! I’m 42 ,. ..prior to becoming a nurse; I. was a international flight attendant same hours ~much less pay . I worked with many many geriatric employees no issue ! They walk hard fr the most part . One guy was 82….
Just turned 50 and I am in my first year in the nursing program. Most of my classmates think I am 35. It’s never to late to fulfill a part of your destiny💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
@@MariaLima-qg9jz thats my only problem. but i know God can fix and do anything. so im determined to even learn agajn. I may have to take the ACT again
I’m 38 with a husband and 4 kids. I’m finishing up my medical assisting program with one more semester to go. Then I’m starting pre-reqs for ADN-RN program. No time for second guessing and limitations in 2020. Great video!!
I'm 41 and I'm taking pre-reqs (algebra & biology) just to get into the actual nursing program pre-reqs ( a & p, statistics). I just failed algebra and lost my financial aid 😞. I'm gonna take 2 classes and get on a payment plan this upcoming semester. I WILL be starting nursing school next Fall. From my mouth to God's ears 😀
Ms. Smith no worries. Delayed but not denied. I’m retaking pre-reqs to get better grades. Hoping to turn my C’s to A’s. I no longer have financial aid. After taking my TEAS exam this summer I’ll be applying for the program this fall. Touching and agreeing with you...this is OUR time!!! 👩🏽⚕️
This summer I’m officially done with all my pre-nursing classes ! I’m taking nursing math now and literature , i will have chemistry left in the summer. So far i managed to get all B’s in all my science courses and A’s in my elective courses. I didn’t do well the first time i took my teas this January but im determined to study my butt off and score high to get accepted in a nursing program. I’m aiming for the RN program in my community college because it’s cheaper but if i get accepted in an LPN program I’ll still be just excited and bridge over to RN when I’m done. I willing to sacrifice all that i need to get to my goals. I know i might have to move back home because i will have to cut back on hours at work to focus on studies. I been a patient care assistant for 8yr now i should be taken school serious in my younger 20’s now I’m 28yr old and want nothing more than to succeed and make my family proud. I don’t have any kids but i want to start a family soon and i know i need to have a career where i can provide and give them a comfy life. I pray every night God keeps me focused and helps me get accepted in a nursing program soon🥺🙏🏻
I'm 28, 3 kids a daughter & twin sons, and a husband. I'm leaving my full time job to start nursing school on 1/13 and I need all the motivation and tips you can give.
Patrice Lashay congrats 😍😍😍 you are not alone I’m also a mother of 3 with a husband and preparing to start nursing school in January as well. As long as we let God direct our path we will be just fine 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Me too girl. I have 2 kids and I'm 27. I also start 1/13. I'm cutting my work hours to part time for now but i know it's going to be hard af but this is what i know I'm supposed to do. Good luck.
I just passed my NLN exam. So sending in my application and praying I get chosen. And it’s never to late if it’s something you want to do go for it. My mom went back to school when we came here 22 years ago. And she was in her late thirties she went to school for nursing and she has been a RN for almost 20 years now. And she did it with 6 kids, having to work and go to school! If she can do it anyone can ! If nursing is what you want to do then go for it.
Yes! Support is so big. You definitely can move differently when you have support. I am 44 and I had to wait because of the lack of support. My pre-reqs are almost complete. Nursing School here I come. I never gave up on myself no matter what. It can be done.
I feel that there is no age in Wanting to go into nursing. I’m 23 and this was my second time in my program in my school. Unfortunately my mom and I were in a really bad car accident 2 months ago, my mom and I are fine physically but emotionally and mentally we are working through it, which caused me to withdraw. So this fall I’m transferring and continuing on .
I graduated in 2009 obtained my MA. Went back to get my CNA in 2010. Now I’m managing a Homecare agency. I’ve realized I’m a Nurse without a license. Had concerns due to my age, I really appreciate this video and everyone’s comment. 🙏🏿
Hey Mercy💕💕I’m undecided between going to nursing school or pursuing my music career. My mom is about to graduate from nursing school in her 50”s🙌🏽. She always thought nursing would be perfect for me but idk. I’m thinking bout taking a few courses and doing my singing on the side but I know nursing takes a lot of studying, meanwhile I have a 5 year old and 1 year old and a husband! I’m just gonna pray on this one lol
Wow, thank you for that! I needed to hear that. I'm 40 and feeling sorry for myself thinking I'm to old for the nursing program or to pass the entrance test. Thanks
Age means nothing I had 50 year old lash in my nursing school program heck sometimes I had to tell myself like she pushing threw Lataysha you can do lol you don’t have excuses ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I grew up with a family of nurses. mom, her siblings and their mother were all nurses. my sister is a Cna and going both of us are in out late 30s getting our Bachelor's degree this year. I am tired of posts, and videos age shaming people when they do things. Or using age to clickbait. While I support this video, there shouldn't have to be videos on why age shouldn't be a factor. I had my daughter at 35 and probably won't have my second kid until 41 or 42. if I want to start a company at 72 then I'll do it.
I’m honestly thinking about going back to school to finish up my prerequisites courses and hopefully get accepted into the nursing program. I don’t have motivation around me so watching your video is definitely going to give me that push
No I was 26 going into nursing school thinking I was too old and wanted to start life. Well I got my wish and failed and had a baby now I’m hustling trying to get back in. You are NOT too old. Just think...you will be done in 3 years. Either you can be 29 with no degree or 29 with your RN
Just seeing your video. Thanks for the encouragement. Im 54 and just yesterday I went to make enquiry on how to start a nursing carrier here in Nigeria. The doctor smiled. When I met other staff nurses and told them what I came for, they laughed at me but I was not discouraged. I have made up my mind to go for. Thanks once again for your enlightenment.
Yessss sis! I am about to be 24 and tryna go for my BSN and I feel so old lol😁😁 thank you for sharing because sometimes we tends to think that we are too old to pursue our dreams but that’s not the case, it’s all about puttin in the work and go for wat u want!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been going back and forth about finishing school. I went for nursing and dropped out got married and started a family. The only classes I have left to take is nursing courses. You have motivated me to finish.
Wow you have just inspired me some more. I am 36 with 3 kids two boys 12 and 9 my daughter will be two in February. I love nursing and want to do it but don't have a strong support system, I am new to Canada and though my husband is here not so much of a help.
I just graduated on the 19th and im 30, im prior service my husband is active duty and we have a 6yr old and 5yr old the oldest in my class was 40+ and im still not done as i hope 2 obtain my MSN
I'm only 20, like I JUST turned 20 last week. I'm a sophomore in college and decided to change my major to nursing to follow my true passion. I really felt like if I didn't get to nursing school asap that it would be too late, so this helped me so much. I'm planning on going in the spring or the following fall semester of 2022 and I was really getting discouraged!
Hey beautiful age doesn't matter as long u love school and understand the information even though some haters will tell u it's a waist of time. Also, education change people lives. So, let's keep pushing. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for making this video, you are truly inspiring. I’m 21 years old and I’m currently taking my pre reqs for the nursing program at my college. I was feeling super insecure about taking pre reqs because I’m a first gen college student & I felt out of place being that I don’t come from a family of nurses. This video has given me the boost of confidence I needed. Thank you for making this video ❤️.
@@jaqita53 I took the first step. I know what I need to do and what I need to get to enroll. I've been out of school for 20 years and I have 3 daughters. I want to show them never give up and it's never too late to follow their dreams. Thanks!!!
Well said Mercy but i believe before going into such an intense program one must make sure she has a backup plan. Mostly for those who have kids because if you dont have a reliable backup you might end up being kicked out of the program and find yourself in debts with no degree. I know a lady who went into nursing at chamberlain and was kicked out because at some point she could not find a someone to help with her kids after daycare... It is a big decision that involves alot of aspects.
Training in the US & Canada seems very complicated including registering over from the UK. If it wasn’t so expensive & complicated l would have definitely emigrated to Canada. I graduated when l was 30 and l wasn’t even the oldest, l don’t regret it at all, the opportunities & specialities are endless, the work is so rewarding just knowing you are making a significant difference. 😊
Angela Farmer I understand why some things are strict, we are essentially responsible for so much & so many lives but the hoops required to jump through are insane. I do have so much respect for US/Canadian registered nurses, you guys are like junior Drs the way you practice, your skills & knowledge plus you are well looked after by your unions not to mention your wages alone, the UK could really learn a few things from your system.😊
Hey Sis.. This is a motivation video, I start nursing school in March, I appreciate your thoughts and information that you have provided. It made me tear eyes and I think I'm ready now.. Hugs and kisses ❌⭕❌⭕
Thank you for reposting this video. I say reposted because the comments seem to be at least a month old. You are right you never to old to learn new things and there are many ways to do nursing. My kids are grown and all are out of the house so I am just going to put my foot forward and get it done. I appreciate you. Thanks again. I will keep you updated on my journey (not that it's a big thing but just want to be somewhat connected to someone that understand) my kids don't get it they think I should just be still with a cushiony part+time to pay bills and watch grandkids all day. uh- huh NOT.
Thank you for making this video. I’m not perusing nursing, but I am trying to fe in the Histechnician program at the same time taking the 5 more classes I have left to get my AS in natural science. I have two kids, single mother. Trying to make it happen. I have a bit of support during the times I’m going to school. My mother watches my youngest. But for study time I have figure it out on my own. And I do get discouraged... I wish I was able to get more down time to study more.
IM SO INSECURE WITH MY AGE AS 40 YRS OLD I DONT HAVE THE CONFIDENCE THAT M U BRAIN CAN HANDLE THE NURSING SCHOOL. ILL BE THE OLDEST STUDENT IN MY CLASS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Within the next couple of years I will be in nursing school and I often doubt I could do it because of various mental illnesses I have. (I have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety, and paranoid schizophrenia). I am being treated and I want more than anything to be a nurse because I am a very caring person and wish to help those that’s are less fortunate, but I’m terrified I will not be able to become a nurse. Any advice is welcome 🙏🏻
Am surely answered and satisfied before asking thanks for the encouraging message,,and next month in January surely am gonna start my journey to nursing
I hate my career that's why I'm switching to nursing I thought I was to old to go back to school I'm 34. It took my 18 yr old son to say aww I didn't know there was a age cap to where u can learn 😂😂😂
I’m 19 yes old,and haven’t entered school. I feel kinda insecure because my classmates are in school already like 200level,moving to 300level..... I’m still at home ,about to start a prerequisite....I just feel somehow 🥺
Well, I’m 35yr old with two kids ages 9 & 7. I have both a Bachelor in health care adm and Master in Public Health. I do love what I do now, but I just want a little more pay. I see a lot of nurses (RNs) going back to be NPs. I’m just not sure if I can jump to being an NP without not being a nurse first. Can anyone with solid information help? Thanks!
yes i was in domestic violence situation and took me awhile to leave and rebuild my life and had to deal with so much student loan debt. they used my SSN. idk takes awhile but ima try. back in the game.
Hey congrats to you. I am 35 and I did my high school diploma recovery program and graduated in 2017 when I was 29. After that I became a CNA and I'm currently working and going to start my pre-reqs for either LPN or RN, whichever is first. Step by step you'll make it. You will most-likely have to do your CNA when you start your Nursing program afterwards and you'll be able to work a bit as a CNA while in Nursing school. Good luck and I wish you well. It is never too late for us to be the person we were always meant to be.
Hey boo !! I see that you wear nail polish and sometimes acrylic nails in your videos . Does it depend on what career you choose or the location for nursing to determine if you can wear acrylics or not ?
what about people who flunked twice. different schools. i ended up with a little of my mental stability being off because of the gallbladder surgery got to my brain a little. please anyone on some encouraging words?
I must ask other people involved in something about age restrictions this: If you have no familiarity with someone besides having seen him/her/them around occasionally if at all, then how do you know that person’s age just by looking at him/her/them?! I can only say we have a lot of idiots in this world who might refuse to understand whatever is and isn’t their business!
very good advice your advice i'll share to my fiance she's from the phlippines. you are not from the US? i'm a iraq war vetran all my depdant's able to go to school for free. that part is covered for her. and she has 3 sister in law's retired RN'S
