Took My Rusty Car To A Classic Car Show - People REACT To My 1956 Chevy 

Had such a great time at the first cruise night of the year! Thanks to everyone who came & checked out the car. Had a good laugh editing this one 😂 ALSO a lot of the people in the video are good friends who didn't know the car was mine. They gave me permission to use their reactions in the video

Funniest 2 things captured, 1. The probably oldest guy was the only one who knew it's an LS. 2. The little girl saying how do they drive it.

My brother and I go to the mopar nationals and get tired of looking at the shiny polished trailer queens. We always end up looking over the station wagons and barn finds, they still have a history to them.

This is something I can see myself doing. Pulling up to a car show in a car I found and got running, Redo the brakes, do an oil change, get a fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, get new tires, get it aligned, and Change nothing else.

Don't worry about all of those negative comments Olivia. Just use them for motivation to build a kickass car! I know you will too! People will be eating those words someday! ;-) Every build has to start from somewhere. You are lucky. Yours is pretty solid underneath. It's definitively better than a lot of Tri 5's that age. You'll make it happen!

Most of them dont know what a fuel cell is i wouldn't expect them to know that is a LS motor 😂😂😂

Nice 56. Olivia, you can put a few pieces of charcoal on an aluminum pie plate inside your car to help with absorbing moisture and getting rid of moldy smell. Sounds crazy, but try it out.

Cheeta is a fiberglass kit car from when everyone wanted a Cobra or Corvette but could not afford one. Good on you guys for getting out to the car show and driving what you got!

I took a friend to car show he wanted go to in my 69 Camaro. I built the entire car in my carport including engine. Jerks with their 2 or 300k resto’s were bunch of idiots never touched a tool and thought they were so bad ass

My camaro is still in primer. Was just in a show. Procharged 355, solid cam, old school. When i fired it up a large crowd showed up.

I have a 51 Chevy Panel and a 68 F100 4x4 that I have been driving for over 44 years. Both are mechanically solid with absolutely no rework on the bodywork or interiors. There are rust holes everywhere. There is a very distinct group of people who appreciate them as is. I couldn't care less what others think.

I live in a hot rod rich town. Shows are every weekend. Nobody looks at the perfectly restored muscle cars anymore. They flock to the beaters and rats with rust and dents.

This reminds me of hanging out at the track on a test night, having a bunch of people telling me how to race or work/build my car "the right way". Been doing it my whole life, but glad you came out for your first night and are that much of an expert already 😄 My favourite is the guys who bring their girlfriends and explain how drag racing and car stuff works, but it's all wrong. I just let'm all talk and go along with it. Good entertainment.

WOW! Thanks, This video brought back lot's of great memories of the 60's! The "Run what you brung" days! This would have been an everyday driver to school, work and Drive In Friday nights! Saturday nights back road drag strip, farm to market road, NHRA approved spray paint start/finish line...LOL! High Tech finish, first fender over the line! Most of the time we would have an officer from SAPD (San Antonio Tx. Police Department) or county deputy with us. You mentioned brakes, that's how I earned money in Junior and High school. Drop it off at my house after school or work. I'd tear it down, drop off drums and brake shoes at "Reds" auto parts on my way to school, he would turn the drums, reline the shoes and kits to rebuild master and brake cylinders' then drop them off on my front porch! Can you imagine complete brake overhaul for under $20, that included parts and labor! Will be watching your progress!

Awesome! Love the run what you brung cars over the mega dollar queens. Doin same thing here. Son's first car, 54 Belair moredoor, engine is a cobbled together Frankenstein from what was sitting around, 96 ZZ4 short block, 65 corvette humps, mystery highrise intake, hot lunatti cam, power drums, overhauled front steering/suspension with 94 power rack, and a 57 highway gear rear end. She ain't the prettiest flower in the garden, but he is proud.

The car has Mad Max rat rod appeal. I would explain the windshield, my husband was a bank robber, this was his get-away car.

My first time to watch your vids, will watch others to get more info. My first car was a '57 sedan that my Pop helped buy in 1970. 283 4bbl w/3-on-the-tree. Had a blast with it during high school. Been in love with Tri-Fives and a Chevy guy since. The '56 has the coolest OEM access to the gas tank! I have old-school bookend 1972 Chevy's now, a Corvette and a Z28. It's a disease that I'm satisfied to live with. Noticed both '56s with fenderwell headers. I had them on mine with same muffler setup as Liv's, especially with the phantom LS that most couldn't ID. Lack of a distributer and other clues threw them off, huh? "Is that a V6?" You guys have great chemistry and thanks for the update on the local car scene. Subscribed to discover more. A good friend of mine went to Back to the 50’s here in Minnesota a couple years ago, walked by every painted and polished car there to check out all the rats. “Hey there’s some rust over there!” I love cars like this WAY more than the pretty ones. This thing is perfect!

Ok when you take off the hood pop the springs off so the hinges dont stand up or just unbolt the hinges with the hood on it.....

Older folks need to modern up boys. I will conceide that without coilpacks and the carb it could be confusing. The give away are the valver covers and serpentine system. Good story, thnaks for sharing.

Good for you..."Run what you brung"...We do ol school..Studebakers with rust..We have fun with "Studebaker Butchers Club"..but mottos to remember.."Kustom because Stock Sucks"...And "Built..not bought"... As long as YOU are having fun with it..Remember ..it doesn't leak...It marks it's territory!!!Funny thing is...I purchased my '62 Studebaker 4 Dr Lark in Poway, Ca.. 24 years ago with a 170 ohv six..no headlights, no gas filler and a tree had fallen on the roof..For $900 and drove it back to South Bend, Indiana..Still drive that to shows...rust and all.!

I think it awesome having a rusty runner. Don't have to worry about stone chip and just drive the wheels off er'. Left a show one day and the guy next to me was acting like a prick. Guy on the other side of me said ''he's mad because that ol' tank you got, got more attn' than his''. Guy had a 32', cherry red, roadster. I've seen dozens just like that. My 53' plymouth however, is not common in my area. No problem with a red 32', but don't shit on my car cause it's simply less common. Of course it'll get some attn. Anyway, i miss that ol' girl. Got a 63' Bel Air now, aboutthesame condition. She runs decent and is too much fun. Drive what ya like and have fun. 🤘

Went through the same thing . I am the second owner of a 66 hemi charger, was my dads car . She’s rusty , leaky but runs like a beast. I’m 58 had the drive line rebuilt and well it gets laughed at till I slam the skinny pedal to the floor .

In 1986 the Best of Show at the Oldsmobile Club of America Nationals convention in Santa Maria, California was a late 1940s Oldsmobile sedan that was a rust bucket, as if the people had fled the Midwest for the west coast in the only jalopy they owned! There was zero paint anywhere! Beautiful car.

If you don't have a key for your Trunk use your Oil Dipstick works every time. LOL

As a 50 year old car guy, I'm a little saddened that only one person knew that was an LS and it was probably the oldest guy there. Not a lot of die hard car folks there if they can't spot an LS from a mile away. People only been building them for 20+ years now. My Mom had one just like this as one of her first cars. She's in her 70s now and regrets ever selling it hehe!

cant tell if it is a Chevy, Mopar, or Ford very funny to hear the reactions. At time stamp 5:20 and a few shots after you get a view of the engine. To me it looks like a LS engine with the spark plug wires coming right from under the fake valve cover and no sign of a distributer. Neat how you found an intake to fit a LS engine and top it off with a carburetor. Cool custom right there. Glad people still come to car shows.

It’s hilarious how judgy people are! I like the rat rod look. I had no idea anyone was putting carburetors on LS motors until I saw this. Now I have to study up on it.
