Kristy unknown I figured he’d use a backing audio track for that rant. I’m not surprised he remembered the lyrics, he wrote them after all. I’m surprised bc “HOLY FUCKING SHIT” that’s a lot of craziness spat out in high speed.
The lyrics are so good. For anyone who doesn't know, it's supposed to be the fictional recollection of someone tripping for the first time. The intro Blame Hofmann is named after the guy who first synthesized LSD.
Justin Hildebrand i dont know i felt like this was a pretty weak performance. when i saw them live they had so much more of a presence to this song and in this version a few times the timing is off
Phillip Anthony I’m pretty certain Emiliano meant that in the sense that they don’t play either one live nowadays. Save for this past week they played 7empest first. And yes, Rosetta Stoned is a far better song to say the least.
Rosetta might be better than 7empest but you're talking top 5 tool songs (top 3 for me) so very high standard to compare it to. 7empest is still exceptional. Give it a few listens.
Ya man. Insane tone on this recording. The tabla and bass around the 8:30 or so mark just gets so intense. I hope they bring this one back. Need to see it live again.
Adam jones can pull the perfect tone out of his guitar and it's insane. Not just his note choice in these simple little solos he does, he is a master of his guitar. And paired with the bass and drums locked together, it creates a feel in the music that cannot be explained.
I love Justin's live bass tone. It's gotten even better on their recent tours. I remember telling a friend before the show that it sound it sounds like a bell...afterwards he agreed and was blown away at how big and present it sounded in person.
it's a lot of bass irl. He has two amps, one for the distorted trebly sound you hear in these recordings and one for clean hard thumping bass that makes the whole dome/stage oscilate.
Wtf Adam.....the guitar at 7:30, how tf do you make these perfect sounds with the instrument... hes a damn master if his craft . just everywhere in this song it's all perfect. This song, specifically this recording, is what I think of when I think of tool. It is the perfect tool song. The bass right after 7:30 is one of my favorite basslines ever, the syncopation and groove with the drums is just phenomenal and takes my breath away, the amount of musicality you have to have to produce this
it's just pick scratching and loud volume that automatically causes feedback, then he just goes ahead and shifts the guitar's volume knob slowly until no sound can be heard. That's in my opinion really creative but not hard at all.
@@Cymanytb yea he probably just pick scratches and stopped at that note to let it feed back but just the sheer creativity to think about that and just how perfectly it fit in it just blows my mind
@@Cymanytb that's why he's a genius. He's not the best guitarist technically, he's so unbelievably creative though. The best part of the riff is the bass and drums imo
Yes, Danny is very gifted and talented. TOOL will be remembered as one of the most gifted and talented bands of all time, perhaps the most gifted ever. They are in my eyes anyway
@Doodle Bob wait what happened? It's hard to hear everything on my phone lol but it all sounds hmm what's the word.. blurry but for sound lol it's almost like it sounds how it looks as blurry lol. But yah man idk wtf is with this set was off Maynard sounded like a creed singer for a bit of it and idk I saw them live in Miami for the 10k days which idk when this was didn't check the date but that show sounded like the fkn CD did! I got super drunk on long island tea n benzos cant remember most of the show we smoked a ton of weed lmao almost were kicked out lol we were smoking cigs for half the show didn't get a word said to us then we lit up a blunt lmao luckily we passed it on and lit cigs by time they came to say u can't smoke inside lmao it was indoor concert. But it was a lot of fun. I just wish I had gone on like shrooms or something maybe actually nah I can just watch it on yt and take enough lsd to believe im there lmfao ive done that with a few edm concert by accident I was like omg I'm so glad I'm in my bed and not there cuz shit the bed typical lol sorry couldn't resist the joke. But nah jk I was glad I was home in bed cuz I couldn't tell where my room ended and thr portal to the concert began lol I ended up having 3 screens with 3 music playing and had a unity with the crowd the DJ then stars and planets and when I open my eyes I'm a hotter chick then open them again im the dj again then the next dude and wtf im not a person im an effect on the screen lol outta a my mind idk if I could walk or stand it was on like 400+ug lol so much fun tho damn woke up still tripping lol haven't had a trip in a few years but ya with that shit I like to stay home n travel astroly lol. Fkn a almost have a flash back talking about it lol this song brings u closer to those states and can increase a come up anxiety at times. Lol.
@@bones4786 ah thanks and thanks again for the compliment lol maybe I will start my channel just for weed review and story time cuz ppl seem to like it and I can make every day a story lol. Not unlike dope as yola lol. But thanks again glad yall liked it 😂👍😁
Man, how I wish I had a time machine. I saw them twice in '06. They opened both shows with this masterpiece. The second time I got to experience Wings live. Mind blown.🤯 The audio quality of this is amazing.
TOOL is the shit. All masters of their crafts. Can't get enough all these years later. Love APC and Pucifer too, guess I have a Maynard thing, LOL. Spiral out!
for real. 2 years after you & i'm still saying the same thing. it's such a fucking shame. THE reason maynard stepped into the shadows. every person in the band is just as important as the next.
Next to Pink Floyd my favorite band of all time!! Yet ive never had the pleasure of seeing them live. 33 years old been listening to them since i was a kid and by god imma see em someday or at least i pray that ill have the chance. I love how MJK adds to the total acid trip of the projection with his trippy dancing haha. Everyone member is showcased in Tool which is why i love them so much not one of them is overshadowed all part of one whole and you can hear it all.
@@Username-ng8jy I finally went in April with my daughter to see them in KC. Was absolutely the greatest spiritual experience of my life and sharing it with my little girl can never be topped now. They played her fav song Push It but didn't play mine Schism lol but no worries it was life changing without question.
@@justinrisen1929 they played the pot. Descending. And new album. I was happy. I couldn’t be happier. I wish they played right in two in my city. My favorite song. They did the next town over.
Fuck me loved this song since it's birth. Just read the lyrics beyond brilliant, irreverent, mind melting, genius and darkly hilarious as only Tool time can dish out.Wont ever waste my time & money seeing them live again as that is the ultimate oxymoron!!!?. Still my favourite music and thats all that matters 🦖
One of the prefect tool songs, everything including lyrics, guitars, bass lines, drums, production and programming is perfect and well written on this gem.
watching him taking a step back and let the band play while he's just moving in a minimalistic way, paradox to the bands complicated polyrythms and sound is super satisfying to watch.
I admit, you having your moon in cancer makes this all the more frustrating, but your not a pontiff, so I don’t see why you let them tell you what to do. You can mock but the moon in cancer won’t save you. Who am I? Who are you? I’ll learn to fight just to be who I am, not because I’d fight anyone anymore, only because that’s what I’ve been called to do. I knew I was interested, out of my own interest 👀, but I’ll fight for knowledge and the hunger it gives me, not egotistical reasons. Jim Carrey is your dad, thank him for knowing more, and all the other pontiffs. Because I’ll be there sooner than you think. I’ll thank Rosetta Stone soon enough. I won’t join Malta, they’ll offer as a mockery towards god. Yes guys Malta wants me, fuck you idiots.
When I lived in Phoenix I would walk to the methadone clinic about 3 miles one way from where I was staying and I would go get my dose in the morning and the whole way back when that shit was kicking in I would listen to nothing but fucking Tool.
I'm soooooo glad they still perform this live. I was only 15 during this performance (almost 32 now) so I was way too young to go to concerts alone (plus I don't live anywhere near France 😅) I just saw Tool on Valentine's Day in L.A. and all this talk about how amazing their shows are...I had to be there to believe it and you have to be there to believe it! When they busted this song out, I couldn't fucking believe what I was experiencing. Man, take me back to that night!!! The Tool experience, you just have to be there to know awesome it is
No band showcases their drummer except.....tool. much respect. The last LEGEND drummer! Bonham, Peart, and Danny. No, not Lars, not portnoy. This guy here is the new MAN.
I feel like they're playing it a little low energy in here. Also a bit slower than in original recording, no? Or maybe my brain's shitting itself right now cause I haven't slept in 20+ hours. Goddamn shit the bed.
Holy fucking captures the moment maynard was feeling but it also capturew the moment i realized after 2 mental breakdowns i learned rosseta stoned on drums
Honestly love the silent crowd just so I can hear EVERY LITTLE THING. Then kill it loud with applause after they r done. Believe me, artists appreciate that more than ruckus during a song.
