Your enthusiasm for this amazingly presented album is bubbling so close to your surface! I've been a Tool follower for way too many years to recount and this release is just so powerful and thought provoking. It brings me to tears often. I received my vinyl version on 8.6.2022. The pressing solid, warm and exacting. I simply love this band!!
Hey , your channel is fantastic. I just found you . Could you elaborate more on why you didn’t buy the super deluxe 5 album . I need this album on vinyl . I’m not sure whether to buy the 5 album or 3 album . Thanks
Well often times, records that are etched on one side become dished and I was afraid that I would be unlucky in that regard. But I think in the long run the single sides will be the more collectible version. That said I’m very happy with the 3lp.
Great commentary Bob, agree completely! You're making me want to go pick this up ASAP though earlier this year I found a 2lp boot....By far my favorite Tool album.
I bought a bootleg while waiting for an official release of FI on vinyl. I was initially impressed by the quality, but there is no comparison to the "Deluxe" 5 LP box set I purchased when it came out. I'm tempted to pick up the 3 LP as well because I'm that much of a fan (and completist).
Hello Bob, I picked up the 5 lp boxset and you are right Chris Bellman outdid himself on these records I have always been a CB fan but OMG, and the artwork is phenomenal I just wish Tool would knock it off with the etchings on the records. Great video!
Well, Lucille that five disc etched box will be very collectible to the diehard tool fan (there are many) I feel once it’s sold out we won’t ever see it again. So rest easy knowing you definitely made the correct decision as far as collectability and monetary value is concerned. If I see one of those boxes on deep discount Amazon or whatever I’m buying it and leaving it sealed . Cheers and as always vinyl luck to you .
Aloha Bob, Thanks for the amazing record review. I'm going to purchase one, I'm just debating which one? Amazon has both, 5 lp set is now $100.10 or $53.99 for the 3 disc, both with prime shipping. hmm.... Thanks again Bob, looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
This is one of my favorite recent reviews of yours. You brought your musician side as well as your additional research (from which I learned a few things...including about that $4000 Blue Bottle mic Maynard uses)...all in well under 10 minutes. You also featured the art work extensively (as this package seems to deserve) and touted it's "high water mark", Chris Bellman cut sound quality. It made me immediately want to pick up the 3 LP set (though I've recently had to be much more selective about what I pick up). I'm not an uber Tool fan but I caught them back in the day on a Lollapalooza side stage (92 or 93... I saw both) when Sober was making the rounds on MTV (or moreover MuchMusic/ Musicplus up here in Canada). I used to have much of their earlier releases on CD but I have yet to add a tool record to my collection; I think I've been waiting for an official release of 10,000 Days (I hope we don't have to wait until 2026 for a 30th anniversary...) but after your excellent review, I just might find myself pulling the trigger on this expensive but excellent looking/sounding 3 LP Fear Innoculum set. Thanks for all you do on your channel!
As a newbie when it comes to vinyls, how does the music sound different as compared to a cd/digital? Can one vinyl sound different from another vinyl from the same band/album?
Yes different pressings can sound different depending on the source material, who pressed it and who mastered it. As far as different from cd, absolutely it does. A lot of it is dependent on your playback system. That said, in general yes the sound is different. Cheers
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL Thank you for the response! I bought the same album you reviewed in this video not long ago, i find it so interesting that this pressing will sound different.. Thanks for teaching me something new!
Richard in the long run that five lp version will be worth an enormous amount of money. Tool fans are rabid and when they are gone they are gone. I’d guess it won’t be reprinted. Just a single poster from a show can sell for hundreds … just wait… and of course enjoys it. If I see it on blow out I’ll buy it and just hold lol . Cheers
I am one of the idiots that forked out a ton of money for the box set that a sealed copy is worth half what i paid now and doesnt fit on my shelf. would have prefered this 3 lp but there is no way I am forking out more dough. It does sound great though. An official box for their entire catalog I would buy if that ever happened. Something similar to what mars volta did.
The past releases need reissue badly. Have no fear over time the 5lp box will be far more collectible and valuable, that said obviously not near as convenient. Cheers
Scored a bent-corner copy for $40. The 5 LP thing was gorgeous but also obnoxious, I thought. No one can get anything pressed and here's Tool doing tens of thousands of single-sided discs and the most ornate packaging ever. Glad I passed on it and could get the 2.5 LP version, albeit 3 years after the album originally came out.
My corner was bent as well no discount, doh! Lol it’s not bad. I hope they do the other records like this one. It seems lots of care of taken on this release. Cheers
