That effect that Adam is using on his guitar during the drop is called a talk box. It's tube that is inserted in the guitar players mouth and he adjusts the tone of the guitar via manipulating the inside of his mouth. Peter Frampton is the guitar player who made those famous.
I’ve been with these guys since 1993, the best ever. All four of these men are masters of their trade and together they make some absolutely mind blowing music.
Lateralus by Tool! Do a basic research on how the song was made and the Fibonacci sequence and how it works with the lyrics. You’ll be blown away dude. They’re the goats of creativity
@@Interionisim He sings about his worldly success, "but you changed that all for me" is one of the hints that this is someone who came along in his adult life
@@GrimrDirge you confusing jambi with H both are about his family but jambi is more about having achieved success but willing to give it up for family where as H is directly about the birth of his son changing him to be a better person.
The sound effect is called a VOCODER, or "talk box". its tied to the guitar and powered by talking through a tube. Same thing Peter Frampton used for his hit "Show Me the Way"
JAMBI is the name of the Genie in the Pee Wee Herman tv show. That’s why Maynard references “wishing” throughout the song. The is about the birth of his son Devo and how scared he was about becoming a father for the first time. And also the state of the world he was bringing him into. Was he going to be a good father but he was willing to give everything up for his son.
It’s a guitar with a voice box....you put a tube in your mouth and move your mouth to get different effects while playing the guitar...the BEST use in a song is Peter Framptons song do you feel like we do....it’s a must listen...
Maynard is definitely a unique voice. I love it so much. He has a way of being powerful without sounding like he’s straining. He also shows a very different side of himself in his other band Puscifer.
All of their songs are great on acid, shrooms, or any other psychedelic you would like. Changed my mentality growing up to where I was a superficial asshole like most people end up being. They made me think about things on a whole other level. Glad you are back on the Tool experience.
The guitar effect is called a Talkbox. I think it works by sending the guitar sound up through a tube to the guitar players mouth. Then the sound is varied with the guitar players mouth. This sound is then sent down through the mic. I could be wrong about this.
This song is about what matters None of his power and money was as important as being grounded and centered and he would wish it all away to protect that
Watch Danny (the drummer) play Pneuma if you really want you mind blown. Not only is it a great song, but you finally realize Danny only has two arms lol
I interpret the song to be about human struggle (addiction, selfishness, lust, etc sin). With the line "two become one" sounds like man and wife (rather, a couple) becoming one in unity... "Divided I'm withering away" ie: Love, will save us all. 💞
Watching all these videos in a row makes me laugh with all the different intros. I know I recommended Lateralus and you gave me the link, and I watched it, but I don't think you knew that the timing of all the band members was 100% based on the Fibonacci Sequence. That's what I was requesting... listen to it again knowing that info.
This is why I love Maynard. I see you pondering his ethos...his meaning. I love it. The way I interpret this song is like this...this is a song to his mother. Judith Marie, his mom, was/is a driving force in his life. She passed away. Hence, the title of the album. 10,000 Days is how long she lived after a life altering event. She died prior to this album's release. The beg like a hooker...all the line's in the beginning of the song "feast like a Sultan I do..." is all about his rock star status. Girls, money...and I'm sure--drugs, because why not? Yet, he would wish it all away if he thought tomorrow would take her away. Meaning, he'd give it all up for one more day with his mom. Beautiful, honest...Maynard. For my money, he's the best lyricist ever...EVER...and it's not even close.
2 live songs that youll love.. Talking Heads: Life During Wartime and Dio: Rainbow in the Dark. Gotta be the live early 80s versions though. 🤘😎 Dio is a guy you really need to deep dive on. One of the single greatest singers in rock history. 5 foot 4 but with the voice of a god.
His other band “a perfect circle had a song of a much different tone about her religious beliefs. Song was written shortly after her diagnosis. Songs name is Judith. His mother is Judith Marie
Disposition -> Reflection -> Triad... Reflection is just out of this world good. I've been hooked on that one over the past few months and just can't get enough of it.
Yeh the guitarist appears to be using wot i think is called a talk box. A tube is connected to the guitar up to microphone stand and guitarist puts mouth over the Talk Box and kinda makes sings or makes vocal noise to which guitar coverts to this sound effect. Richie Sambora used it famously in Bon Jovi used song "Livin on a Prayer".
I believe it's about his first born son. He was living the rock star life, but after his son was born he was ready to give up all the excesses up for fear of losing him.
The album 10000 days was about his mother are her struggles with her terminal illness. H survived 10000 days after her diagnosis and it was 10000 days of living in hell as he saw it. She was a devout Christian and her faith was a huge part of her life. Wings for Marie was written for her
It's called the wakening. Its when your spirit is waking up from this fake reality. Tool is that. The drummer Danny uses a lot of tribal poly rhythms that gives fuel to the soul for the wakening. I've been listening to them since 92 when I was 11yrs earth strong. Have turn back since.
Depending on who you talk to, but out of all their albums almost everyone agrees Lateralus and 10,000 days are their best work. I love anything from Aenima onward, but 10,000 days is just wonderful though.
Ahh, the guitar voice thing... React To Peter Frampton's Do You Feel Like We Do As far as I know, he was the pioneer of that. There's a 13+ minute version of this song that was the first I heard and it was on a radio station. Blew my mind. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DON-4ZubYbg.html
About the newest tool album, I shunned it for a while and when I finally bought it, I really liked it obviously, but one thing I may say about it now is that it is dominated by the instruments, and the emotional aspect that comes from Maynard seems to be sidelined, it's just not there like it is in the other albums, I don't know why, maybe that's just what happens. I think it is time to have another listen to it soon.
It's not really the beat switching up like you said. The song is mostly played in 9/8 or alternating 4/4 5/4 bars, i believe. Not the craziest time signature tool has used. You should really check out songs like lateralus and schism! Pneuma has some weird stuff going on too.
