He DOES seem more chipper. It seems like a kickass environment though. He is in HIS space, and damn... Woah.. I just caught myself commenting on a COMMENT on an OLD INTERVIEW, and then pointing all of this out, MYSELF. MY GOD. WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE.. . . haha 😎
ufoenthusiast I see and would you care to share that reason? Also, curious as to why you'd watch this video without liking Maynard (or Tool presumably).
I suppose. Obviously there are a lot of jokes on Coldplay's behalf, but I honestly don't get it. Their first two albums were actually pretty solid.. Now if he would have said Maroon 5..
They are not "Shit".. But... It's just like, you know.. So you probably all heard a few of their tunes on the Radio... Probably your dad or something driving you to school, it was probably raining so that set the mood right for Coldplay.... Radio music, nothing more nothing less. I was quite fixated about one song they made, and that was a year ago but do people even really listen to Coldplay ?.... I know that they do but for me it's just that band that i heard in the Radio (When forced to listen to the radio)... There are so many much much much better bands to listen to, i guess that explains it. The music us just not that interesting unless stuck in a car with the radio on.
Aaaww, Maynard has such a nice smile. I've never seen him smile like that until this interview. Before that, it was either half smiles or a closed mouth smile.
Dont you dare compare coldplay and DMB with nickelback. Nickelback is fucking terrible compared to the previous two. Yet again I have really low standards in terms of what I consider good music so I might be talking out of my ass but I still stand by that statement.
Tool has been struggling in a devastating lawsuit that almost destroyed them. This was only resolved very recently. (in 2016) That's the number 1 reason they have not been putting out music.
Tool is still my all time favorite band, but Maynard does get too much credit by the public. Most people don't realize that he has no part in writing the music. It's all Danny, Adam, and Justin. He just comes in later to add vocals. In my opinion, if there's a true "genius" in Tool, it's Danny.
Jonathan Vieira I really love MJK because although he might not write the lyrics, he adds so much emotion and power to the words that not many artists can. But I totally agree, Adam and Danny especially are amazing at their respective positions. Personally speaking my head would implode at the attempt of covering lateralus on drums...
Gamertrip4life maynard does write the lyrics. He just doesn't write the music. Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic vocalist. I just hate when I hear people call Tool, Maynard's band.
2:33 "Open up that weird scab..." brings to mind lyrics from "Forty-Six & 2", possibly in his mind he is "listening to his muscle memory" for the roles in each different band; all speculation. I hear a lot of references to his songs in interviews with Maynard, gotta love the guy.
find Maynard to be very insightful and intuitive. He calls it like he sees it just in a poetic way. Plus he's educated on his thinking pattern which is way more than I can say for some. Can't wait to taste his wines.
Did anyone else just think that he has his own personal opinions and not relate it to being arrogant? Seriously, being famous doesn't mean every opinion you have is you putting yourself above everyone else. He just doesn't like Coldplay, whoopdie fucking doo.
You can tell a difference when he likes the person interviewing him. This was the most relaxed and present I've seen Maynard in an interview (which he's said many times that he hates to do).
I'm sort of glad I was into ten billion other bands before going into Tool, including Coldplay. It means I won't get too loyal to just one genre of music. There's something to appreciate in all bands (except maybe the ones that just got popular because the members are hot or something).
I've seen this before and wondered how these two got together for an interview. Just watched the Lars Ulrich "It's Electric" interview with MJK and apparently these two go way back. In the early 90s, Maynard hung out with a bunch of the up and coming "alternative" comics like Patton Oswalt, David Cross, lots of people from Mr. show etc. and tried to get some sort of Tool/comedy hybrid show going but the Tool fans weren't having it at all. Interesting stuff!
+wonderwall135 coldplay is one of the shittiest all girl bands ever. saw that pos prancing on the tv 2 nights ago. what a vag. coldplay is utter shit. if you think otherwise the question arises, who wipes your ass?
+wonderwall135 well damn now I feel bad for being a shit. wonderwall135 I'm sorry I made fun of Chris Martin, he however in point of fact does prance, i looked it up the definition in the dictionary sorry I was a shit, it's not moms fault. she likes Coldplay btw.
