@@rossmusic25 Not regarding music theory and key changing and creative use of instrumentation. Love Tool, but they play in D or E frigean/aeolian almost every song and you are not going to find creative key changing. I don't thing either band could write eithers band's music. Some of that is the times, but they shine in very different ways. Very different.
Z06M6B613 then you’re clearly not listening to Tool. They have completely random key changes all the fucking time. There’s no one like Tool. But yes, I’ll agree with the Beatles and Tool probably not being able to write for one another
As Tool is my most favorite, watching your reactions as they climb into your soul is like watching your baby take its first steps. Much love. Keep Tool'in on 🙏😘
just wrote on another comment, I got hooked lol, it's like your buddy said "ok, I've got a free day and some intoxicants, show me what the deal is with tool"
I'm new to the channel, but I think he would really dig Pink Floyd. I think they have a very similar feel to Tool - musical geniuses and lyricists who make every note feel like it was made just for that song.
Just face it man, at this point its just worth it to give every tool song a listen. I personally haven't heard a bad one yet. One good one that comes to mind is Rosetta Stoned. Kind of a humorous, tongue-in-cheek one.
Metal music is and always will be a misunderstood music. Most people that like R&B and such music, are the main ones thats say "WHAT IS THIS STUFF" turn it off, but in fact most metal, rock, grunge, industrial is a very mature music. Thats why people still talk and listen to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, Over Kill, Black Sabbath it will live on for another 60 years. While stuff like nicki minaj will dye in 6 more years. Glad you take a liking in the metal world, keep it up. Oh you should check out some Rage against the machine.
Hello King KTF! I absolutely LOVED your reaction... This is my first time on your channel and this is the best Tool reaction I've seen... I feel like it really gave the band their due credit for how amazing they truly are. And hello Ramvat! I have to say that I completely agree on what you are saying about the different genres of music and the sterotypes that have seemed to have been built through the years regarding metal music, R&B, rock, grunge, industrial, etc. I have always been one to appreciate all different genres of music but the one that I love the most is metal and one of my favorites of all time is definitely Tool for sure! They are definitely very mature in all aspects... You never grow tired of them either... But what I am trying to say is it is so great now to see black people branching out now and starting to check out this band and truly appreciating this amazing music and experiencing a whole new addition to their usual sound and format of lyrics that they are used to hearing other than the typical rap and sampling offered by gangster type rap, not that there is anything wrong with that... but I just love to see the multi-cultural thing happening with everyone... it makes me smile... I have been trying to share Tool with my black friends for years... maybe they will take more of a listen now... I believe that by people like King KTF making videos like this that break out of the stereotypical mold, more and more people will start thinking for themselves and quit following what everybody else is doing. So glad you are giving the metal music a chance! It is awesome to see open-minded people... You truly have excellent taste in music... A few more bands you might want to check out are The Gathering, Jinjer and Lamb of God... Peace
I'm influenced by Pink Floyd (who isn't?) but that's no reason to regard me as the Pink Floyd of this era. The same claims have been made time and again about bands being the new Beatles and it's always cringe-worthy. Maybe in 40 years time if Tool are as universally admired as Pink Floyd are today then maybe (just maybe) we could start drawing comparisons.
I'vebeen saying tool is our generations pf for a long time. Not that they're similarsounding but what they are to us and the details, layers, and depth of the songs
Not the first time I've heard that particular analogy used. They throw WAY too much at their fans and then give them 5 years between albums to try to figure it all out.
I consider Tool to be our generation’s Pink Floyd in my opinion. Just saw them live for the first time a few weeks ago. Such an epic show, scratch that off the bucket list! 🤘🔥
Most of Vicarious is in 5/4 time. That's why its throwing you off like you mention at 5:05. Count to 5 from the downbeat a couple times and you'll feel better
Preston, great reactions man! Just love seeing you discover and appreciate all the music, that's been important to me for so long. And I can absolutely understand, how you feel about Tool, because I still have the exact feeling every time I hear them, too. It takes you to another place, like a soul journey. Keep it up, you gotta take a look at Tool - Schism sometimes, too. my favorite song of them, and I know you'd love it!
Dude! You can't miss their official videos. They are all classics! Watch the Aenima video. Too great to miss!! Btw, I would be glad to take you to a show!
I disagree. The official music videos would really throw some people off and take away from the music. Some other youtubers got turned away from Tool after watching their videos. It’s the music that’s the important part, the videos bring nothing to the table. However, you should do lyric videos for Tool from now on
At 5:03 where you're talking about the guitar in the back throwing you off a bit. That may be because of the reason you've felt a bit odd about most TOOL songs... they are usually in odd time signatures. Most songs are in 4/4 and some in 3/4 (waltz style). This one is primarily in 5/4, with a few 6/4 measures tossed in here and there. The song Schism has something like 47 time changes, and I don't think a single one is 4/4. But it sounds cool as hell!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Bingo! The 5/4 count is what gives the song it's unique feel. It's tricky even for seasoned music listeners to catch it unless you're actually trying to count out the timing.
Yes!, you absolutely need to get into the lyrics of Tool songs, they are always many layered and deep. Try Parabol/Parabola it’s quite a journey, or The Grudge. Basically they are all great, you can’t go wrong. Great reaction, this is also one of my favorites and I also agree on Right in Two, it is my favorite Tool song too.
I know this is an old video but seeing you say "Tool is my favorite" just made me feel good. Something about relating to depth and insight with someone is so powerful.
"I wasn't ready for that. I kinda wanna start the whole thing over." Welcome to Tool man, I get that feeling too but usually after the song is over. Love your love for Tool and really music in general. Keep up the good work sir.
"They the best to me man" yea they really are special. and this is coming from a total non fanboy, they are just a truly unique band. keep it going with tool bro!!
I grew up on Tool, from the early 90's until now they've always been my favorite band. I feel like each album they released spoke to that particular point of my life. I just can't explain adequately how much I love Tool.
The only band I know that have no a single bad song. Tool is the best band of XX and XXI century at the same time. I'm pretty sure you'll dig Deftones too. Deftones - Digital Bath Korn - Wicked Tool - Jambi
“PREACH! TALK TO ‘EM” I loved the standing ovation haha tool is loaded with messages. Even after years of listening to the songs I still find deep meanings in the songs I’ve listened to thousands of time. No other band has really done that for me. That’s why they are my favorite
You should react or just listen to Tool Wings for Marie and tool 10000 days. It’s like a prayer to his mother , who was bed ridden for 10000 days after a stroke. I saw on your other review of Right in two, you should listen or review this whole album. It’s called “10000 Days”. It I tools last album, came out in 2006. They finally are in studio and have a new album coming out next year. Keep up the good work. I love your reacts, your the best in the business. Peace and Blessings!!
Every time I see a reaction video or hear of someone getting their first exposure to a tool song, I find myself envious of that first impression and how every experience of that song thereafter will never be quite like it again... I live vicariously through you, Preston.
Beautiful. This is one tool song I never was able to connect with. But I found a new appreciation for it from watching you. You should do a reaction to Parabola if you haven't heard it yet.
I have been watching your vids for awhile. I even rewatch some because you make me so happy. I wish I had a friend who I could show tool to who would get it like you do. They all just fake smile and nod at my attempts. Cheers bro
My first comment on youtube - so much love when you realise tool might just be your favourite... have watched about 4 or 5 of your earlier tool reactions and it built up to this revelation.... i'm watching all of your other tool/perfect circle/puscifer reactions right now - my man!
I love watching these videos because I get alot of satisfaction watching someone enjoying something I enjoy. Tool does make one feel a certain kind of way.
I liked the video as always. Vicarious is a really good example of Tool's brilliance. It's hard to hear this without Jambi right after. In fact, you might just want to listen to the first five or six songs. If you do that, you'll probably finish the album. 10000 days is great from start to finish. I'll be looking forward to more Tool...keep up the good work.
I just found your channel and was immediately drawn here. I’ve loved tool for years and years and to watch you take it in for the first time reminds me why I fell in love with them and real music as well. Look forward to many more of your vids, awesome job. Love your passion.
Man I'm super happy that you dig them. Love watching the tool reactions. You absolutely have to go see them live. Most of the 10,000 days album is ridiculously musically refined. Lateralus is really the holy grail though. Their next album will not disappoint. Everything they do is gold though so you're in for a treat. Nice little find to have for the rest of your life. I bet they change it for the better. Have a nice trip.....if you get bold enough, make it a lysergic one....totally worth it.
It's been 25 years since i saw Tool live performance for a first time. Bro, by watching you makes me feel the way i felt for the first time. If there's a band i adore, it can't be anything but Tool.
I’ve been a huge Tool fan since 1992 when I was in 8th grade. It’s cool to watch them evolve with me and my tastes in music and art. I love the way you said you just can’t quite put your finger on it. That’s EXACTLY the way I feel about their music. It has an almost mystic quality for me. Not every heard/feels/experiences it that way. It always gets me going when I hear someone say they’ve listened to some of Tool and truly loved it. Keep up the good work my friend.
Hell yea, he should also do the lateralus album. Is an impeccable classic. Tool music is like getting knowledge and wisdom fed directly into your ears and into your soul. I can’t believe I slept on tool for so long. I feel like I missed out.
This guy gets it (subscribed). I'm going to check out your other Tool reaction videos. I'd recommend you go back and do all Tool songs with the lyrics. They're all good and deep. And literally, you can listen to any tool album from start to end. they are the best
Anyone else jump back to "relive" his reactions as he's pausing and jumping back? I've been telling friends about this, and I have to say, it's like re-experiencing the magic of discovering music that I've held such love for, Vicariously through you. 1000 thumbs up wouldn't be enough. Keep doing this and I'll keep watching. :)
You remind me of an old best friend that I had, and in our earlier years, we would spend hours in the car, smoking a little green, and he would let me go with a song, and then I would let him go. I will never forget the impact Tool had on him, and how he felt it to his core, with chills, and almost tears for certain songs. ESPECIALLY this one. He did the same for me, with rap, and hip hop, and old jazz and blues. It was always a beautiful experience, and while we PHYSICALLY never did much, mentally, we both got to some insane levels of understanding each other, and the world a little better. Keep going man, love it!
I absolutely love what these reaction vdeos have done to people and music. They are opening the eyes ( well ears) to all colors, races, creeds, Religions, sexual preferences, whomever else to all music types. I mean 99 times out of a hundred people will just look up what they like and not just what they like but what they know. However with people being able to suggest bands and songs to the listener, it has opened a massive solid iron door between the majority of the world to the "Eden" of music. KTF most likely you would have never fucked with TOOL for a second, but the suggestions have gven you a gift not just t them but many others. I say TOOL because you went from not knowing them at all to them being "your favorite". I fuckin love it. I am so elated for you that you were given this gift as we all have. All I can say is welcome to the family and NOTHING but love for you and yours bro. Keep on listening!! PEACE!!!
Man, seeing your reactions to Tool makes me feel like its my first time. It makes me appriciate their music on a new level seeing it through someone else's viewpoint. Beautiful. I adore how you react to the deep lyrics...TOOL gets in your blood, in your mind. They inspire me so hardcore.
Your genuine reaction to Tool reinvigorates my love for this band. I get to live vicariously (pun intended) through you. I remember having my "ah ha" moments with tool and the more you listen the more you dissect the musicianship and the poetry of the lyrics!
As a musician and producer of various genres I'm always pleased to see people experience new styles of music and broaden their horizons. Tool is definitely one of the best groups out there for this. I don't generally watch reaction videos but I've enjoyed yours quite a bit. Keep exploring and I'll keep subscribing.
I'm a forty-something Black woman and I LOVE Tool! I got introduced to it when my kids played it on guitar hero and I just got hooked. Tool is an experience. It really is.
You have some of the best public comments I've heard so far. Don't stop thinking about the lyrics and their relationship to the music. Tool is one of those rare bands that combines tragedy and hope for redemption in such a way that can change your life.
That was fun watching you really get into and appreciating one of my alltime favorite songs from an incredible band. Just goes show, keeping an open mind can turn you onto things you never thought you'd like.
The fact that 4 such unique musicians coincidentally found each other, and (sometimes sooner than later) decided to create such pure art, never giving a single shit about what anyone would pay money to hear or have it played on the radio 10 times in a day, chopped into digestible 2-3 minute snacks, is indescribable to me. Each one of them so creative and unique at their craft, Danny Carey with those insane rythms and tribal sounds, Adam Jones with the crazy effects and different string-pulling techniques, as in the Jambi intro, Justin Chancellor also using some awesome effects and pedals, and just over all amazing basslines (Reflection, Schism, H., Jambi...), harmonizing so amazingly with the Guitar of Adam Jones, to the beats of the absolute Monster that Carey is, topped of with a voice that can sing you into a high with some ancient fckn singing, like in Parabol, and screams that wake you up from the Dead (The Grudge, H., Tick & Leeches, Third Eye.....). And then they converted all of that shit into Music, where basically every track is a trip, just taking you along for a ride, building and building until it explodes and jizzes into a musical climax thats just so one of a kind. Nothing comes even close, i'm gonna go pry open my third eye now.
Bro I've watched all of your Tool videos, it's amazing the feeling you give me feeling like I'm there with you experiencing Tool for the first time. Keep it up the genuine honest reactions they're much appreciated 🙏🙌
I had this CD when I was in HS and this was my favorite song. My dad told me about tool when I was in like middle school. You never hear anything else by then anymore.
Okay, you got me. Subbing. This is my favorite song from my favorite band and this guy gets it. I'll never be able to fully rekindle the experience of the first time I heard this song, but I can feel that you feel it, too.
You gotta check out his other band a perfect circle as well they have great songs with a lot of meaning...Judith, passive, the outsider, 3 libras, weak and powerless a lot of great stuff 👍
Just when I thought I loved your hip hop reactions you come with Tool reactions. You have been my favorite reaction channel on RU-vid and this just confirms it.
Tool is 'church' for me, exactly because of the reasons you give for being a fan. The lyrics are deep. They mean something. And the music is heavy as hell. So happy to see another new fan of my favorite band.
This is already 3 yrs old and ive only watch 3 of your vids on tool. Top 5 to now favorite.. Its like a spirtual awaking. True harmonic rhythmic vibrations that r powerful. Youve evolved. Its not just instruments and pop music ... Now u know what level of musicians ur dealing with.. Now go watch interviews with Maynard. He still spitting wisdom about growth. Thus his retirement
Man for real....I am a huge tool fan...love your vids....you HAVE to listen to third eye by tool with lyrics...my favorite song by them ever! Keep up the great content!
The experience only becomes better from here. Looking forward to you experiencing more of their music, learning more about who they are as talented individuals, their concerts (including their positioning on stage), and other features of the band you will eventually learn and run into as you move forward in this journey. Happy listening.
