Im quite impressed with the functionality and quality of toolkit rc products. A member of my local aircraft club has the toolkitrc M6 150w charger and its capable of charging a small 6s lipo with no issue.

I like their stuff too. They've been making some innovative and cost effective products for a while now and they seem to keep getting better.

If you are charging with a battery, does it shut off at the battery cutoff voltage so it doesn't kill the battery? Also does it shut off once the battery you are charging hits 100%?

Does this cable works in reverse? Meaning can you charge a normal usb type c device using this cable by introducing power from the xt60 end

Thanks John for the informative and practical video. I have a question regarding the cable. Can it be used with a PD power brick to power up the DJI FPV Goggles?
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 года назад
It can be used to power anything you like. One end is USB-C, the other XT60. The spec says 20v and 5a are the power limits.

Can you change the presets on this to a lower amperage? Wondering if this can charge below 1amp.

I was thinking about using this cable and usbc pd brick and the isdt h605 air to travel charge my 6s packs. Think it will work?
@RCVideoReviews

Sure. USB-C on one end, XT60 on the other.

So I couldn't charge 4 x 350 mah 1s batteries on a series charging board since this charger can't charge below 1 amp, correct? Thanks for your excellent videos btw. You really explain things well.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews Год назад
Do you mean Parallel board? When charging in parallel you can add up the total current of all batteries. So 4x350=1400mah or 1.4a. So you can charge 4 350mah batteries in parallel at 1.4a. Usually we don't charge in series unless it's one pack with a balance lead.

@RC Video Reviews So, I purchased a tkrc m4 and a vifly whoopstor. The vifly unit seems so great and easy to use. My 8 year old will be using it quite a bit since he really likes to fly our whoop around. We also have an rc car that uses 2s 1000 mah lipo batteries. Would it be possible to parallel charge them with the m4? I feel like all the parallel charging boards out there can only plug into 6s chargers.

Thank you for your helpful video. I don't understand PD very well: if I've got a pd which is capable of USB-C output: (18W PD) 5V 3A, 9V 2A, 12V 1.5A, then how does the M4pocket decide which voltage and current settings to use? Also, if I just use the SC100 cable with my old ISDT Q6 pro and my 18W pd, how do I set what voltage is selected (i.e. 9v or 12v -the Q6 won;t use 5v as it needs between 7-32v)? I would prefer just to spend on the cable and use my existing ISDT Q6 pro, but I don't understand how different voltages would be selected...

Normally PD negotiation occurs between PD devices, given one end of the SC100 is XT60 I don't believe there is a negotiation between the power supply and charger; however, when I've plugged the SC100 in to PD power supplies, the PS has always output 20v so far.

@@RCVideoReviews Thank you, this seems promising! I've been doing a bit of research and it seems I can simply plug any lipo to the output/charging side of any toolkitrc charger to get lipo voltage and other basic info without the need to separately power the charger. This makes something like the M7 preferable to the MC8 for me as the price is only slightly different. The only seeming benefit of the MC8 aside from the smaller form factor being its ability to be used to power/charge other usb devices but... ...could the ToolkitRc SC100 cable (which has usb c to xt60 connectors and some king of chip, meant for allowing a pd/power bank to be used as input for a charger) be used on the output end of a charger to connect it to a power bank and then have the charger charge the power bank? (or would this fry something?!)

We want pd output like 20v.

CAREFUL !!! I got one of these today and I accidentally connected an input lipo that was at a lower voltage than the output lipo ( the lipo I wanted to charge ) - the thing started smoking immediately !!! Luckily I disconnected evrything in time and plgged it into a USB-C input , still working thankfully. Really wish it had a stop/start function rather than just immediately starting to charge when you connect a lipo.

Weird, I just plugged 3s in on the input and 4s on the output. It’s charging the 4s just fine right now. Wonder what else is going on there.

@@RCVideoReviews I checked the input Lipo later on and it had one cell at 3.1v and one at 4.2 ! Dont really want to try and recreate it again 😄 it’s been working fine all day on usb-c since.

We have to be careful suggesting the charger is at fault for something it isn't. Here is a picture showing the 3s5000 charging a 4s1550 at 1.5a and it works fine. ru-vid.com/show-UCcJwn8V3MTsib2LjAcTnargcommunity

Can you change the chemistry?
@RCVideoReviews

Only by selecting the cutoff voltage.
@pfeerick

Looks like it's lithium only... You do have the different termination voltages, so it's good for normal and high voltage lipos as well as LiFe and Lion batteries. Note that it is a charger, and *not* a discharger, so is only good for charging your batteries up to storage, not for discharging them. Nice to see they put a proper bi-directional USB-C port on it. Would have been nice if it had been a proper USBC-PD port, or at least capable of more than 1A/5V, but it still looks pretty good value for it's price and size.
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 года назад
Incorrect. It does discharge down to storage from a higher value.

Why do chargers these days have to be so small? You still need the power supply to power it and that isn’t exactly pocket sized 🧐
@RCVideoReviews
@RCVideoReviews 2 года назад
I could easily fit that in my front pocket. It's a DC charger which means no built-in inverter and usually results in higher wattage for less space.

It can be used with a small powerbank otg. The real problem I have with this little charger is that all my batteries are around 500mAh and the M4P can't go lower than 1A, which means 2C charging. Unfortunately figured this out after I bought it.
