For years I would construct makeshift toolkits using bags that i'd gotten for free when buying power tools (think Ryobi / Milwaukee). This past December I decided to upgrade, and I did so in a bag way with the Veto Pro Pac TP-XXL. The bag is huge which is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand I have every tool I could need to solve the majority of problems that are likely to come up around my house. On the other, i've got this thing so packed full of gear that it can be a burden to haul around. If I had to do it over again, i'd probably opt for a smaller bag (though i'd still want a Veto bag).

I have the same exact bag and I wish it was actually bigger for more tools. I like the green khaki color and the bag is super tough and great design with all the pockets and tool dividers. I have more mechanical tools in my bag and I put it in the family car in case of emergency

Right on. One year later, I wish I had gone with a smaller one. Just very heavy when lugging it around the house. Still, beautiful bag made using high quality materials. I love Veto stuff

Nice video. For insulated screwdrivers, consider dropping the Phillips and picking up the Klein 2-in-1 insulated that has #1 and #2 Square tips, the #1 is are better for outlets, switches, etc. And if you do need to open a panel, the #2 is what you will need. I find that for electrical DIY, the squares are better and will keep you from camming out the screws. The insulated flat head is good for older non square drive outlets like I have in my old house. I really like the looks of the Ryobi suction laser and will be looking for one. I have the third gen Milwaukee M12 impact and I think it is the best battery power tool I have ever owned and having been in construction and DIY for 40 years, I have a lot of other cordless tools to compare to. I have been avoiding the Veto Pro Pacs because of cost, but I may reconsider. I am currently using an 14" open top bag with a rigid handle, but it is too big and becomes a catch all. Thanks again.

Will take a look at the square driver, and that 2-in-1 sounds nice! The Ryobi suction laser is a must have, sometimes I go look for stuff to hand just so I can use it 🤣 Glad to hear you've had similar results with the M12 Impact, big fan of the tool. Re: Veto price, can't deny it, they're pricey. In truth, I don't _need_ such a bag, but im confident it'll last me a lifetime so I was willing to pay up. Love the bag and great setup. I use the "Railer" bit holder and I purchased 1/4" hex to 1/4" drive adapters and was able to put "Metric" sockets on one side and "SAE" sockets on the other side all in one holder which saves me some space. I have not lost one socket yet so works really well for me. As always wish you the best. Kudos from NYC🗽.

Will checkout the "Railer", would definitely save me a bit of space. I originally had the Wera toolchek plus in this bag, but found it overly duplicative with a lot of bits that I already had, so i opted for the metric + standard rails instead.

I recently got a lot of hate for posting a "homeowner diy" kit built in a Veto bag on r/tools. Apparently they can't fathom why someone would rather buy good tools once.

People are weird, man. Folks want to gate keep “good tools” as being reserved only for those in certain trades. Though, at the same time a lot of folks want to argue that even if you’re in the trades, tool X performs the same as tool Y, but for half the price, so only an idiot would buy tool Y! I don’t totally get it, but trying to make sense of it will drive me crazy, so I don’t worry about it too much. I enjoy using nice tools, and it’s not like im asking anyone for _their_ money to buy them. My Veto bag has held up super well so far, and I do not foresee it breaking down in my lifetime . The only thing I’d have changed if I were buying the Veto all over again, is I would’ve went with one size down so it’d be a little easier to manage. Thanks for the comment, enjoy your Veto!

Hey Peter, I am new to your channel, thanks for your videos. I have really enjoyed them. Have you seen the new spring promotion for Veto Pro Pac? They are offering a free new SB-LD compact tool and meter bag after you buy a tier 1 product. Hi Buckeye - Thank you for the kind words about my channel. I have seen the promotion though i'm debating if I should participate or not. I actually like the Tier 2 free item a bit more, because I could see myself using that around the house with a Milwaukee impact. Believe this years sale ends on May 31, so I have a bit of time. If I end up buying a bag, I will surely make a video about it!

Morning Lee - thank you for the question. I have a 72 inch / 24 drawer Husky work bench that I keep tools in (and would like to review on the channel someday). The top drawer of that bench has 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 ratchets and sockets, as well as my wrenches. Ya nothing from veto is a good investment for a DIYer its way too expensive. I have had that bag for about 2 years now, it is an excellent bag for a professional but a homeowner would never in their entire life get their money's worth from it. For a homeowner i recommend a bucket with a bucket organizer like the bucket boss, I actually have one of these on my work van because its a cheap way to store the tools i need but don't use often and it have a total cost of like $25. I also think expensive hand tools like knipex pliers are a poor investment for a DIYer for the same reason as the veto bag.

Appreciate your perspective, though I disagree. This bag will outlive me, and thus if I amortize the cost over my lifetime it works out to around $0.01 per day to have the bag. That is, live to 80 (god willing), 33 today, it’s just over $4 a year or a penny per day. I don’t think it’s hard to realize that kind of value. My philosophy is generally to buy the best thing I can afford, for the things I know I need, but I understand that may not work for everyone

@@HeyDerFolks While it is an opinion on if it is worth it or not, it is a $200 bag and trust me they are not indestructible, I broke the shoulder strap clip on mine and had to replace the strap and several of the guys I work with have already had to replace the bag as a whole once and I hate to say it but it is unlikely to make it 47 years it will dry rot and become unserviceable eventually, for the cost of that bag you could replace a $25 bucket and bucket organizer 8 times. I kind of agree with you on the buy the best for the things you need however I think it is more appropriate to buy based on realistic use for example I am a rack refrigeration mechanic, for many of my tools I buy the best and my tools that I use every day are top quality but then I have tools that don't see as much use, why would I spend top quality price for a tool that sees use less than once a month it will just rust riding around in my van and the same could be said for a DIYer buying $50 a pair knipex pliers, it is a waste for them to rust in a drawer when the irwin ones will suit their actual needs.

It is a nice bag but I don't agree with the premise that it is a homeowner tool bag and a must have at that. The main reason is the cost, it is too expensive for the majority of homeowners. This is a bag for pros not your average homeowner and most of them will not want to pay over 200 dollars on a tool bag.

Totally agree! The title is more about the tools within the bag, than the bag itself. And even the tools, don’t necessarily have to be “Knipex” for example. At the end of the day I try and buy the best tool I can with the money I have, within reason. I try and consider how often I’ll use it, likelihood I’ll lose it, and probability someone will ask me to borrow it. As for the bag itself, it’s just a bag. I could easily have used a 5 gallon bucket with the tool pouch on the outside, a cheaper veto bag (in hindsight I wish I bought the smaller TP version), or any one of the many bags on Amazon. I decided on Veto, however, because I wanted to buy it once and never have to worry about it again. I’ve got a video coming out Saturday walking through a Carhartt tool roll I put together with 90% harbor freight tools. My hope is that folks can judge the contrast in the two.
