As a rustic artist and a wood sculptor one of my best friends is a dewalt variable rotary sander 5” sanding discs. Uses like 40 grit bulk pack sand paper, rips material down , has some flex to it. Can’t even guess how many years I’ve beat the bloody hell out of this tool.

Ryan, I am SO GREATFUL for your videos. I have only been carving for a little over one year. As I told you before, I was first inspired by Mark Colp. But my learning, and progress, come from carvers like you, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I do use Stihl, but really would like to get the small echo set up you have. I will look in your description, in Hope's you have left links, to follow for purchase. I have followed you, since your very beginning days on saw dogs. Thanks for staying with sharing your art! ❤

Thanks for sharing your workshop. I am looking forward to have so many tools as you. Unfortunately I live in other country(Mexico) and prices are really high from here(taxes and shipping) and some of them really difficult to order to my country like manpa tools and canon carving bars and 1/4" pitch chain for chainsaw, but I have the basic tool and chiansaws for carving. Keep your good work bro and inspire more people with your art!

Dear Ryan, I cannot agree more with you about Makita tools. You pay a little more but in the long term they deliver consistently and reliably unlike cheaper knock-offs. I firstly tried using air die-grinders at the cheaper end of town and they were hopeless. They do make quality brand name air die grinders like Shinano but my budget didn’t stretch that far. I’d love to be able to take one for a spin.

Hey Ryan...Please answer this question for me. Many carvers talk about using LoPro 3/8" chain on large blocking saws. At 3:24 you use 3/8 LoPro on a CS620 with a 28" bar. All the research I have done only rates 3/8 lopro chain up to a 42cc saw. The CS620 is a 59CC saw. Am I missing something? Is there LoPro chain that is rated for a large powerhead and a 28" bar? If so I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance!

I like old Homelite saws because I think they are cool but definitely heavy. Funny thing is the only working saw in my possession is an xl-101 Homelite. On the side it says "the lightest saw in the famous xl series". I have never done carving art before but I like running a saw a lot. Maybe art is an excuse to fire one up regardless if its an older saw. It has an 18'' bar and no chain brake or guard. manual oiler and leaks fuel. Any suggestions before I carve?
