OK, so spend $35,000+ on tools, then buy $6890 in metal so you can build and sell a truck bed for $7000? OK, got it!! ROFLMFAO!!

@patrickm.8425 Actually, they cost me about 1200.00 in metal to build one. I'm in my tools somewhere around 12k in tools ... but it's based around people who already own a cnc plasma table and a welder. ..

Tools regardless of trade are an investment. Its either a time investment because they make the job shorter(if i sell something for 100 bucks and it takes 10hrs to build thats 10/hr. If i can get it down to 1 hour thats 100/hr). Or its an investment towards quality. I can drill all my holes with a regular drill, but knowing every hole is dead on straight just makes it all fit together a bit better. Better quality builds fetch higher prices for your work. Or its an investment in your whole life. Weve got thousands of dollars worth of tools in our shop, literally nothing i cant fix on my car or home. I dont think i have ever paid someone to come fix or do anything for me. Ive had friends and family ask me to help them do something at their house before, i say sure and i look at what they need, figure out what tools i need and ask them to show me to their tools so i can grab what i need. They will either take me to the garage or tell me to wait there and turns out all they have is some unopened molded plastic box of crappy tools from walmart. Also its not like you buy 35k+ worth of tools all at once. Its over time and getting the really spendy stuff at auctions and fb marketplace for super cheap. If you set aside some money every month to buy tools (and learn to use them) you will quickly find out you not only save thousands and thousands of dollars not needing to hire someone to fix your stuff, you will also have the option to make money with those tools making or fixing stuff for others. Seems like a nice little way to make some money if you ever really need it.

Never fails to have one jack ass in a Thread. You have to crawl before you walk. A lot can be done with a good grinder and cutoff wheels and a welder and ad to the tool list as you go. Like the chanel love what your doing.

People that complain about having to buy tools crack me up. How do you expect to build or repair anything without tools? Quality tools last a lifetime and work on job after job after job. A tool might seem expensive but it pays for itself 100 times over during the course of its lifetime.
