Same here! I was in the ninth grade 14 years old not a care in the world, I had my paper route and making money. Great times back then I think the rock and roll of 1973 and 74 were the best. Grand funk, Deep purple And Pink Floyd.
I was 5 years old and remember ALL of these song. My mom always had radio on and so did I. The 70s 80s and 90s wete great times for music. I enjoyb40s 60s and 60s and some early 2000s music too. Then it seems the music died.
Born in 1963, so I was just hitting my teens when 1975 came around. Fantastic music; Rhinestone Cowboy was one of the first songs I taught myself on guitar.
My last year in high school 1974 so I know and remember all these songs. I was also lined up well for the 1980s decade also in music, so I consider myself fortunate in that respect.
I was right there with you! I turned 18 in '74 - we grew up with the best music ever, spanned the 60s thru the 90s I remember hearing Skynyrd and Van Halen's first songs, so lucky!
Born in ‘67, these were the melodies of my childhood. Filled My memories, when times were simple, groovy and the music was astounding! All Anthems. Man, I Miss the 70’s!
Thank you for this video. Three songs which could have been on this list from the year 1974 are Rock The Boat, Billy Don't Be A Hero and The Night Chicago Died.
George McCrae. What. A. SONG!! Sparks! brilliant The Hollies - brill Bob - I never knew he played live near to me in Edmonton in the 70's. Waterloo! I remember watching Eurovision with my bro and we were in awe!! Superb.
I Forgot about loves Theme. I don’t have the nerve to pick a favorite. But B.B. King . The Thrill is gone would have to be up there. It’s not from the 70’s but Telegraph of Love is in that group.
I play this a few times a week. I only first heard it about a month ago. What a loss of time. I'm sent on a trip listening. It reminds me of my impression of my hometown, NYC, in the 60s. I don't know why. But I love it
Thanks for the memories 😊. 9 yrs old (Aussie), my first ever album, a Xmas gift from Mum - Explosive Hits '74 - many of these great tunes, some still playing regularly today, a lifelong love affair with music begun. Blue Swede - Hooked on a Feeling, ZZ Top - La Grange, Suzie Quatro - Devil Gate Drive, Hot Chocolate - Emma, Ross Ryan - I am Pegasus and the wonderful The Air That I Breathe.
Aussie built 1958 how good were all these tunes just brings back great memories every time you put them on. How some people aren't into music I'll never know I couldn't live without it even now I'm 66 going on 18 😂😂😂
@neilmckenzie4692 Photo album opens in my head whenever I hear these tunes 😊. Totally agree, life without this music would leave a massive void, I don't want to imagine. Keep on rockin' 😎
Its amazing to me how much I listened to these during there days. And how much I have the dates messed up I graduated in 73 and was in the military right after. 😂
David Essex - Rock On Gordon Lightfoot - Sundown Brownsville Station - Smokin' In The Boys Room Terry Jacks - Seasons In The Sun Golden Earring - Radar Love BTO - Takin' Care Of Business Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number
Weird. I was a teen in the 70s and thought I had heard everything but I never heard of This Town Ain't Big Enough. I looked it up and listened to the whole thing but it was completely unfamiliar. Maybe it wasn't that popular in the U.S.?
Hey! Redbone, with a genuine Coral electric sitar, made by the defunct Danelectro (pronounced “DAN ELECTRO”), and sold under the brand name “Coral”. I got a new one around 2022, and it said “Danelectro” on it. But it’s exactly the same as the 1960’s Coral models. Someone bought the rights to the defunct company’s name and product line (one guy made ALL the electric guitars in BOTH the catalogs for Sears, Roebuck & Co. AND Montgomery Ward!) and they started by making Danelectro guitar pedals. People liked them, and many who remembered the guitars started asking the salesmen at their local music stores, “Why aren’t they making the guitars, too?” So they did. I don’t know if they still are, but like when you’re buying any guitar, it’s a crapshoot. Either it sucks or it’s good-to-GREAT! Either way, it was hard to beat the price of a Dan-o.
Midnight at the Oasis and Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me. Also kind of like Clap For the Wolfman. But the summer of '74 was my favorite ever. Oh, and Annie's Song.
Doobie Brothers, Black Water. Dolly Parton, I Will Always Love You. I know more people remember Whitney's version but Dolly wrote it and sang it first. Billy Preston, Nothing from Nothing.
It’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll (but I Like It) - The Rolling Stones Can't Get Enough - Bad Company Black Water - The Doobie Brothers Already Gone - Eagles Fox On The Run - The Sweet Burn - Deep Purple
Sylvester wasn’t a one hit wonder. He had two other Top 40 hits in the States - Dance (Disco Heat) and I (Who Have Nothing). Amii Stewart had another big hit in the UK, “Friends”
My top 5 from 1974 in no particular order, Smokin in the boy's room - Brownsville Station Hooked on a Feeling - Blue Swede Rock on - David Essex The Joker - Steve Miller Band Takin care of Business - BTO
