Thanks! just subscribed to you - I'm starting this YT journey and just setting up my gear, thanks to your solid advice! I have both the Wireless Go/VideoMICRO, before your video I would've spent the money on a Rode shotgun, (too bulky for this camera!)
I loved this video because of your transparency about the accessories that you currently have and recommend and the ones that you don’t have and recommend. I subbed because of that! ♥️
Have been using ZV-1 for a while and these are great and practical accessories for the cam. Your channel’s super underrated. Thanks for your recommendations!
I just ordered this camera for easier top down shots and quick vlogs. Was looking for some tips on accessories and landed on this cool video. Enjoyed it man, keep up the great work!
@@KyleWattsTV That’s exactly what I thought, so light! I am a Canon shooter (R, R5), but Canon doesn’t have any great vlogging cameras. Not really anyway :). I recently built a little RU-vid studio on a stand and this overhead solution will be the finishing touch 😅
great vid! Subbed! Im confused how you don't have more subs. Should I assume you don't care for the 'vlogger accessory' stick they package with the zv-1 since you didn't add it here? I'm thinking of picking up a used zv-1 just for something quick and easy to have on hand to vlog instead hauling all the Stuff with my a6600 but i wouldn't get the bundle discount on that stick and $150 seems like its not worth it. I'm loving how inexpensive most of the kit you show here is.
The vlogger remote handle to me is a waste. It’s too short and doesn’t allow you to get it away from you. The idea of the remote is cool but it’s just as easy to hit the record button on the camera. Although it does give you an extra custom button which could be handy for adding a quick ND filter on/off.
I just admire how you boldly do the review very informative! really love it now im going to the mall to get my zv1 and the accessories LOL! thanks bro! more vlogs and videos to come! shout out from Philippines!!
Love the Rode Video Micro but if you are vlogging with multiple people check out the Diety D4 Duo and it has a shotgun mic that points in front of the camera and behind the camera at the same time.
Great video. I picked up the screen protectors right when I saw this and then just ordered the Rode VidMicro, Selfie Stick, and Extension base plate. I know these will all be game changers!
Dude im on the second item and I have to say, You might only have 4k subs rn but you are ganna go places. I went to look down and hit like and sub at 02:48 and was shocked you didn't have at least 100k. Keep doing stuff man. You're about to make it on here dude keep making good content like this and dont give up. Cant wait to see you living your best life succeeding.
Great video! I prefer a battery pack. Yeah you neeed to be tethered to a usb cable, but you can continuously shoot for many hours. I tried that lens. The stickers failed in time. Wasn't worth the width. When you use a gimbal you can turn off stabilization, and stabilization crops the camera. So the gimbal actually also provides more width. The Crane is the best gimbal, you're right. I tried the Moza Mini p first, and it stopped working almost immediately. The crane has been great.
When I used it, I didn’t have the base plate attached but it should still work with it. It would shift the camera a bit to one of the other mounts but it would really be only about a 1/4 inch from the factory mounting point. Also small rig makes a arca Swiss quick plate that replaces the m2 plate
@@KyleWattsTV Awesome. I have been looking to get some upgrades to my ZV-1. I enjoyed your video. I know I want batteries. I have contemplated getting wide angle lens but what you said about the size has me on the fence. But I do want cleaner shots. Do you know if that gimbal has a tripod stand? I guess I could just follow the link.
@@Natayi the battery door opens with the base plate attached. Depending on how wide of tripod you have it on it should still be able to open. If you are talking about while it’s on a gimbal you will probably have to remove it from the gimbal to get to the battery
Just ordered this camera today after dropping my Sony WX500 in a river and it was fully submerged. It has started glitching out so much! I am going to be a lot more careful with this one xD I ordered the Rode Microphone to go with it too!
I have my own channel, im looking to upgrade to the ZV-1 from my iPhone as my main camera, this video was really useful the ulanzi is definitely being taken into consideration.
Great video! I have my camera on the way and this was a big help. Would you have any recommendations on a compact flash for the occasional stills? I found the Sony F20M but there has got to be a smaller option right?
Luckily the accessories are pretty reasonably priced! It’s a small investment but having this and the rx100 line before I absolutely hated the handheld tripod having to come off every time a battery needed to be changed. That base plate is a game changer for this camera
A VND is actually made of polarizing filters, one fixed to the lens and one that rotates to vary the brightness. K&F has a new VND which which also allows you to rotate both polarizers simultaneously so you can adjust polarization. You first move the lever to set brightness, and then rotate the ring to adjust polarization. They call it VND+CPL, but it really it a VND with a way of rotating one or both polarizers. You get CPL without adding another piece of glass in front of your lens.
All kinda depends I guess. Some of my videos I’m using a 16mm lens on my a7siii on my desk and some I’m using the 24-70 about 5-6 feet away zoomed into around 35mm. In this video I was using the a6400 with the 18-105 zoomed in a bit
I got the lense, the ulanzi tripod and I’m happy as a clam. I’ve added Diety wireless mic and that changed everything.. the diet has a lapel mic also. next shoot I’m trying to run the camera off a tubular battery bank. Last time battery died.
Hello, one question for my understanding. Tell me what is the diameter of the ring adapter need for ULANZI WL-1 ZV1? If the diameter of the ND filter is 72 mm, it is OK?
Great review! 👍🏾Just purchased this camera and the recommended accessories. 👌🏾 Thanks for the great tips, especially about the base so you don't have to remove for battery change. 😉 Thanks for sharing!
Hi! my zv-1 keeps going to sleep when using to stream on zoom after about 35mins. I have the high-temp setting turned off, and its plugging into the wall to continuously charge. Any advice?
I’m not having that problem with mine. Are you using Sony imaging edge or did you download the new firmware update and are use of the new streaming mode? On mine I have usb power supply turned on and usb connection turned to mass storage. Also have pc remote function turned to on when streaming.
@@KyleWattsTV I’ve watched multiple videos! So thankful for your content! One question though.. i do plan on vlogging and i know it’s meant for that, but i do asmr as well. I’ll be making more stationary videos with my bee camera. Do you still think this is the best decision? I can even stretch my budget out to $5k.
Loved your video, suggestions, and tips! Found your video so so useful and it definitely helped me navigating how to get for this camera. Keep doing what youre doing! 😊
This was super useful! Just bought the camera with the Sony tripod as well! What are your thoughts on the Sony tripod vs. the other gimbals? It of course doesn't have the stabilizer, but would it be worthwhile getting another gimbal? Thanks for the in-depth description, was super helpful!
I have been shooting my last few travel vids using GoPro Heo 7B.. thinkimg of getting an additional camera for video recording.. Will this serve the purpose of travel video recording?
Yes it’s a great camera for filming travel videos. The first link is a video I made about it and the second link is from a RU-vidr who only uses the zv1 for his vlog videos ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oSsyhdD-19k.html ru-vid.com/show-UC7Pbq16d8psk7S41UAHwQ4Q
Yes you can add it onto the wide angle lens. The thread size is a 58mm. So you can get a filter that’s 58mm or a larger one with an adapter ring. (58mm- what the filter size is)
Man makes me want a ZV-1....another great video! I love the rode wireless Go and I filmed with the M2 with an a7iii and the 28mm f2 lens (with Se Park, video is on his channel “A Day With Se”) and it worked like a charm! That gimbal is a mini beast! Great job dude!
@@KyleWattsTV ya the a7iii is the limit with the 28mm f2 lens.....But shows to pure power of the little beast. Works fantastic for the RX camera's/ZV-1
This is an excellent video! I would like to buy this camera next, and I have saved this video for when its time to get the accessories. You should have more subscribers! I've subed. Thank you.
I’m sure that is a possibility. But I will say that the wide angle lens won’t always be living on the camera, only when you need it. But you do bring up a very valid point
@@KyleWattsTV yea, I have the same set up except the lens. Also I use a comica boom xd. Im getting that tripod that you shared. I have the shorter one. Anyway good stuff, subbed and liked.
I've found the lens to be pretty resilient so far. I haven't banged it up too bad, but I think it can hold the lens no problem. If you record from a mount, hang it upside down every other time to even out the damage lol
The Sony GP-VPT2BT or INKEE IRONBEE shooting grips should be a MUST have. Being able to take a photo or start/stop video without using a second hand is great.
To get the photos of the cam and charge the battery, can I just use a cable? I don't want to take out the battery or sd card, just charge it on the go? My laptop has a mini sd card reader only too...? Thanks in advance 🐱
Both great options, if you go for the a6400, get ready to buy lenses. Other wise the zv1 is a great choice for RU-vid and has active stabilization which the a6400. Not sure when I’ll finish it but I have a pretty comprehensive Sony camera shoot out coming out
I already have the Rode Go mics - can you advise on the lead and jack you used? And do you remove the clip to the mic so as to fit it on the shoe? I couldn't see how you did that.
Thanks for this detail can wait for my kit. I have ordered the WL-1 Lens. Can I screw a ND filter directly to the front of it? As I haven’t got one and could try and find the correct size. Or will I need another adapter? If not what’s the width of the WL-1 base plate as could hopefully screw ND to that without the wide angle lens. Thanks again for the content I’ve subscribed
The thread on the front of the WL-1 lens is a 58mm so you can use on that size. I already had a polarpro Peter McKinnon variable nd filter in a 77mm so I had bout an adapter from Amazon (58-77) so I could just use that.
I need to do a video using all of it still, but I’m pretty happy with the new accessories! I think when you can get the camera further away and wider it is much better for vlog content. Any new videos coming out from you Dima?
Thanks new sub here and was wondering what to get for my cam didn't know about the base plate I just added that and a few more to my cart used the links thanks!!
I would probably guess so. The body of the zv1 is definitely smaller but the lens would be close to the same size. The case I have in this video (not the form fitting one) fits both the zv1 with my ulanzi lens and the zv-e10 with the kit lens.
The Ulanzi tripod looks like a winner. My ZV-1 is rigged out with the SmallRig cage, arca Swiss mount, Mic and WirelessGo, so it's getting a bit heavy for the Benro selfie tripod. Wondering if this Ulanzi's ball head is pretty robust to handle the additional weight (total weight is probably nearly 2x the original camera weight)?
I does seem pretty strong. I have used it with my a6400 and 18-105 lens. I know that ulanzi does make a couple of heavier duty versions of this tripod as well. One of them is more of a small tripod made of carbon fiber. You could always just get it and return it if it doesn’t work out
@@onocoffee I’m looking at it right now and with my big camera set up the plastic part above the ball head kinda flexes and makes my a6400 with the big 18-105 lens bounce a bit. But this camera set up is way heavier and the long heavy lens put weight about 6 inches out from the tripod so that would explain the bounce. As far as the ball head if you tighten it down it doesn’t move
Patriot is probably the smallest for the profile but I’m not sure if it would work with the small lens. I honestly haven’t even looked at teleprompters in a couple of years. I got one for the a6400 but haven’t really used it
@@KyleWattsTV thank you! I’m torn between getting one and not. I guess the more I make videos it will be easier to stay on track and not wonder off on a tangent hence me thinking of a teleprompter but I may not need it.
Just found this video in 2022! Thank you so much for sharing! Been trying to figure out if the wide angle adapter is worth the investment and whether a variable ND filter can go straight on the outside of the wide angle lens. Is there a reason why you would want to get a step up adapter from the 58mm?
