Top 10 Amiga Point'n'click Adventure Games

It's another one of those controversial videos where it's just impossible to pick the top 10 without upsetting someone. One way or another it's my list and it's the games that I consider being the best on the system. It's dedicated purely to point'n'click adventure games so no mixed genre adventures will be found here. And no games with parsers where you type in commands rather than use the mouse for actions.
Some games I either couldn't find or get running or had technical issues with. Four to be precise. I've used recording for them from other RU-vid channels providing my own commentary. The said channels are clearly indicated in the video and I'm also listing them below as they are run by really magnificent and talented folks who deserve recognition and your sub:
World of Longplays:
ru-vid.com
I AM IRONCLAW!:
ru-vid.com
ReignOfVictories:
ru-vid.com/show-UC9YBkkwwG6GP4LzY7xqA1Cw
I make all the videos in my spare time and currently work towards replacing a mic, couple of bits here and there in my rapidly aging editing rig (as it has developed a nasty habit of crashing my editing software on a totally random basis) and hopefully a camera. So, if you like what I do here and feel generous, I would appreciate any help towards these goals. You can donate either via PayPal or Skrill or support me on Patreon. You don't have to though if you can't or don't feel like it. A like and Subscribe is great too!

For the purpose of creating this video I've used WinUAE emulator which I recommend to anyone at least semi-interested in Amiga gaming and not willing to spend money on real hardware. All that is required to play the games is:
- The WinUAE emulator (winuae.net)
- Amiga's kickstart file
- ADF files with games
ADF files are disk images corresponding to floppy disks used for Amiga games. You can easily find them with a bit of googling usually by typing something akin to "game title adf amiga download". Same could be said about kickstart files but these can also be purchased via Amiga Forever website with one of their packs (www.amigaforever.com) or even cheaper (last time I checked it was $0.99) on Android as a part of Amiga Forever Essentials. And these files can be easily moved to PC.

Got to say I really like Flight of the Amazon Queen. Beneath a Steel Sky sometimes gets criticised for it’s very British humour but I’m British so I like it. I have to admit I’ve never played the Goblins games but you can bet I’m going to after this. Dream Web was ahead of it’s time & is less shocking/controversial now than it was back then. The SCUMM games all play great & Lucas Arts made great games so it’s no surprise the engine has been ported to everything. Secret of Monkey Island remains one of my all time favourite games that I still go back to from time to time. Great video again, thanks.

I love British humour (also lived in UK for close to 8 years between 2001 and 2009) ever since I laid my eyes on a first Monty Python sketch back when I still was a kid. "Every $perm is sacred, every $perm is great" ;)

_Flight of the Amazon Queen_ is clearly based on aviation fiction from pulp magazines of the 20's and 30's, not _Indiana Jones_ .
@OldAndNewVideoGames

That might just be. I'm not familiar with these however.

But Indiana Jones is based on characters from pulp magazines from the 20's and 30's. So he's not far off. "Indiana Jones is modelled after the strong-jawed heroes of the matinée serials and pulp magazines that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg enjoyed in their childhoods (such as the Republic Pictures serials, and the Doc Savage series). Sir H. Rider Haggard's safari guide/big game hunter Allan Quatermain of King Solomon's Mines is a notable template for Jones"

I claimed the game on steam. For anyone curious, it was Frederic: Resurrection of Music.

Nice one! :) To celebrate the release of the next video, I'll be dropping a pretty good game in the next code. Well, at least I think so. :)

You just took me 30yrs into the past to relive the frustration of the little red flag in Future Wars 😆

nothing beats point & click games, thanks for the recommendations! I just started playing Beneath a Steel Sky. I guess Amiga never got Browken Sword? the first one is still my favorite point & click game to this day :) what a timless genre, good thing the genre got a bit of a revival in recent years.

I'm gonna be starting a new Amiga series very soon. It's gonna be only Amiga exclusives. So, some p&c games gonna be there too. No doubt about that.

1) I am new subscriber from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮. 2) I still own the original Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 computers + games 😺👍🕹️. Especially the C64 games on the tapes and disks. 3) The old retro games inspire me to draw my own comic fan arts - mostly the furry comic arts 😺🐰🦊 - and share them on RU-vid 😺👍. Thank you 😸😺👍!

Thanks a lot for subscribing! I too still have my old A500. C64 sadly no more. But eventually, as the time goes, if I've any expandable income, I'll try to rebuild the collection again. And good job on the art! :)

Thanks a lot! It was fun making it too. If you're into it, check my other videos too as I upload at least once per week and there's a lot to choose from. Ps. I subscribed to you, your channel looks like fun. :)

A lot of the later games like The Dig are Scummvm games. So they can be played on an Amiga. They may require AGA graphics.
@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames Месяц назад
Sure, but they are very late and came out after Amiga was "long gone". Also, it's an incredibly long video, and it would've looked a bit different today, I think. Not entirely, but some titles would be replaced.

You have NOT upset me! I like your selection - great video! I also did a video on the five best point and click adventure games (from LucasArts) and like the overlaps we have. :) Video liked and subscribed to the channel. :)

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it! I took a look at your channel and it looks interesting. But I don't speak German, so wont be able to participate. One way or another since you're more or less into the same things, I'm giving you a sub too. After all, every little helps, right? :)

There were adventure games with same perspective as Dreamweb - Valhalla series. Simon the Sorcerer is available on OCS/ECS (I did played it on my A500 in the days)

I never knew about Simon the Sorcerer releasing on basic hardware. I gotta look it up, thanks!

I really like your videos but you should consider a bit changing your sound setting. Your voice comes way too low and as a result the audio from the game drowns it so while music plays orloud effects you can barely be heard over it. Excellent job otherwise.

Thanks and noted! :) Next videos will be more balanced sound-wise.

Best is game Universe!
@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames Год назад
Universe was technically stunning. They actually pulled off 256 colours on the screen at the same time on A500. That was unthinkable at the time outside of some graphics editing software or still images.
