I expected war pigs, holy wars, architecture of aggression, one, disposable heroes, master of puppets, masters of war and brothers in arms but man I overlooked the strong lyrics of the masterpieces of BYOB and The Trooper. Heavy metal’s raging and powerful vocals delivers the message of antiwar so incredibly well.

ciao wutang The Trooper is only about a battle during the Crimean War. Inspired by the poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. They had other songs that were more directly anti-war such as 2 Minutes To Midnight, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Paschendale (another song about a particular battle)...a lot of their "war songs" were generally about certain battles. @Christian McGuire, Bruce and Adrian wrote 2 Minutes to Midnight. Steve just writes the majority of the songs, usually allowing Bruce and/or Adrian two or three songs per album. Steve's a bit of a control freak.

Well their stuff really isn't anti-war. They're more like Metal librarians who record the history of war in their lyrics, talking about the battles and famous (or infamous) leaders that took part in them. They don't really protest in their music.

Sabaton mostly writes songs about war not anti-war songs. Many are glorifying battle. Sure they sing about the "good side" winning most of the time, but they do not sing condemn war in their songs.

The song ends with this line chanted several times "you're gonna have to fight your own damned war cuz we don't wanna fight no more" Live4Love is a song about a fighter pilot who questions his orders and his own actions. edbadyt The only mention of the incident of Bloody Sunday is in the title and chorus. Nowhere else in the song is there any direct mention or description of the incident. In the song Northern Ireland is only used as an example. The lyrics can apply to any internal conflict in any country and the effects of these conflicts, whether you live in the country where it's happening or are just a distant on-looker. The song asks for the end of these wars. So, I think, that technically it is an anti-war song.

@@zsjb_ Dont mix simplicity up with talent the whole song is based on melancholy and being fed up its why the droning guitar in the back doesn't change its Meant to be like that. It would be weird to use a singing style used for funerals on a intricate rock beat that doesn't settle i am obviously going to be bias being from northern ireland and this being my childhood but the song has way more passion like metallica's vovals on the Day That Never Comes feel passionless and the band sounds like a new metal band but i guess its just subjective i get more from the simple chords it just makes it more enjoyable for me it has more of a memorable melody

There are 2 songs that are classics in Australia , sadly the rest of the world missed them . Both are on You Tube and are well worth a listen. The first is called ' I was only 19 ' by the band Redgum . The second is called ' The Band Played Waltzing Matilda ' by Eric Bogle . Both are heartbreaking first hand accounts of the horror and aftermath of war .

as much as i love Wind of Change, i always thought that it is more of a YAYFUTUREISNOW type of thing than an anti-war song.... plus, it celebrates the end of Cold War, and it's kinda.... very different from a real war where people die every five minutes... their White Dove song suits this list better, i think. but hey, that's just my opinion!
