Well thought out list. I use all but one you mentioned. I've found wadding up a couple of pieces of newspaper and positioning them under the charcoal chimney works just fine in lieu of the wax starter cubes.

Great list. I have a few must have items I use every time I BBQ. Mid size tongs, a work table nearby to hold accessories, plates, etc... and a cooler of bud light!

The Beer is required. One is just about right for getting the charcoal hot. I usually need 6 if I'm gonna cook anything.

Please let everyone know what are your top "must have" BBQ tools. This is my list, but I'm interested to see what everyone else thinks. What did I get right? What tools did I miss? Thanks for the feedback!

I think you basically covered everything, regarding the digital thermometer, have you heard of Meater+ wireless probe? Awesome probes in my opinion, make sure you get the newer + version though as they had a few issues with distance as far as reliable connection between the probe and your phone or tablet. I’ve just ordered one of the Meater+ probes which btw, even the charging case that is magnetised to stick to your fridge and it’s made of wood and actually looks like something you want on show. I also preordered their Meater block which is currently in development. Anyhow I can’t wait for mine to arrive, I always over cooked my thicker chicken schnitzels because I am never sure when it’s ready, with the probe I will know exactly when it’s ready based on its temperature, btw, the meater+ connects to a really nice looking app, not the usual dull designs of other probes.

theBBQtoolbox regarding those blue gloves, will they not melt by the hot meat?

Ok only thing you missed is a good set of tongs, different types make all the difference.

Great video! I suggest a FIRE EXTINGUISHER also Hand sanitizer, I would not start a bbq pit with out a blue tooth speaker. Thanks

BBQ is NOT cooked to temp. Chicken is the only thing cooked to temp. Everything else is cooked by feel. Thermopens are nice though and a good tool.

What size are your Nitrile Gloves & Glove Liners?? U said in your video that u use 5mil Nitrile Gloves ; but can u find r buy a 7mil Nitrile Glove?? If so what's better 5mil r 7mil??
@thebbqtoolbox2948
@thebbqtoolbox2948 5 лет назад
Hi DeWayne - I use XL 5mil gloves and for handling the hot food I put a one size fits all cotton glove liner underneath the nitrile glove. You can use 7mil, they are a little thicker, but I don't think it is necessary. I would stick with the 5mil, they are a little cheaper.

Digital meat and ambient temp probes are NOT needed. Franklin cooks 105 briskets + everything else with neither of those. If he can do it, you can too. You know how long the food takes to cook. Just watch the clock and poke your food with your Thermopen when it starts getting to that time. I also noticed that when I had a digital probe I started obsessing over the temp. It's much more relaxing without it. Get a Tel Tru analog gauge for your door to give you an idea of where your temp is, watch the clock and poke your food on occasion. That's what every top BBQ joint in Texas does and they cook hundreds of pounds of food a day.

Why is it such a bad thing to use lighter fluid? I pour it all over and chuck in a match
