I heard a story from someone I know that Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy were really open to suggestions on-set, even from extras or background characters. It's so great to hear that even such successful veterans are willing to learn from others!
Alexis and David’s sibling relationship is probably one of the best portrayals of siblings ever done in a TV series. Ever. Between Dan’s brilliant writing and the chemistry he has with Annie, there’s nothing I’ve seen come close.
A scene that makes me cry every time is when Moira shows up with the Jazzigals at Alexis' graduation. Alexis' smile is every kid when they see there parents at a play, etc. It reminded me of my mother who worked and was barely able to attend events like that but once showed up to the Christmas school play and saw me in the Christmas Carol. 😭😁
What kind of feeling is it? My mom was SAHM but I didn't like my mom coming to anything because she would always say something mean. She never smiled when she was there.
i don't care for musicals. I often find them boring. Animated or live actions. BUT, when Emily Hampshire sang that song in the play, i legitimately teared up.
I will be very honest, I have seen Schitt’s Creek pop up on my Netflix suggestions to watch for the past 2 years. The title of the show didn’t pull me in. When the stay home order began in March of this year. We needed something to watch because there was nothing to do. I began to watch it and it was kinda rough for the first few episodes. But it got so much better!! We finished the whole show in the Spring and we already watched the whole show again. It’s the best show that I have seen in a while.
A friend of mine told me about the show when it first aired on Netflix and like you the title didn't do anything for me but because she kept insisting that I watch it, I looked at the first episode and couldn't get past it. It wasn't until the show won al of its Emmy's I thought I must be missing something and after getting past the first few episodes I binged watched it in record time and whenever I need a laugh (given today's climate is a lot of times) I go back and watch it! The Emmys were well deserved!
The same here bro, althought Netflix try to suggest it very common but i didnt click it until one day. At start , it is a little bit weird but it really keeping me at the last episode of season 1. And the chemistry of Patrick and David in season 3 - 6 is really the best. I cant stop rewatching their scenes
During the shoot of Noah Reid performance of "The best", they had to re-shoot it several times because Catherine o'hara cried so much for how amazing the scene was... 🙂
I'm a singer/musician (so naturally- it makes me a picky. Judgemental bitch...lol) and i can honestly say (IMO) that that is one of the best co ers of all time. It truly is "SIMPLY THE BEST!" (Im getting chills thinking about it right now)
Normally I'm against shows doing a spin off because it can devalue to quality of a show. But I feel like Schitts Creek has a lot more story to tell and I would rather have a reboot. If we were to get a spin-off, it'd need to be a prequel following Alexis and her travels. Getting kidnapped around the world, doing her reality show, just fun light content.
I agree, I think there's still a lot more story to explore. I guess that's a testament to the writers and the actors for making the characters feel so real. Although with everything going on in the world, at this point, I'd be happy with a web series like the Inside Schitt's Creek one they had
I know I need a spinoff! I need it because I have watched Schitts Creek 12 times now. I have a friend who has watched it 29 times! On fb groups it is so fun to be part of something we all have in common. I love this show and all the characters forever!
'critically reviewed; limited reality series´ is such a great line. It gives so much insight into Alexis; dumb on the surface; but actually kinda brilliant.
That's one of my favorite lines in the entire series. It's just too funny. If Alexis was the one who thought of describing her reality series as "critically reviewed limited reality series" then she really does belong in PR. 😂 Alexis may not be book smart, but she did manage to escape some really dangerous situations somehow lol (and not just through David's help with getting her passports and such).
I was amazed at how her intelligence would come up at the very times it was needed. But her character development was phenomenal. She turned into such a kind person. Maybe not “turned into”. It was always there but it took genuine relationships with small town people to bring it out.
My dad died a few months ago. A week or so later I started watching Schitts Creek. It was an escape and helped me through a horrible time in my life. I’ve watched the entire series a few times now. I wish I could tell Dan Levy how his show helped me get through many rough days. Thank you Dan.
Annie Murphy is so lovely to watch.Funny and sweet.Seeing her character develop and mature is very entertaining. That said, every one of these wonderful actors has been an utter joy to watch. The "Simply the Best " scene and the Graduation scene arecso heartwarming.
I finished it last night, me and my mom finished it in about three weeks. I CRIED at David and Patrick’s wedding and all the goodbyes 😭 best written show ever
Eugene Levy reminds me of my father who passed in 2005. My father had that same hair and brows. I miss him so much and watching Eugene's portrayal of a great dad is so comforting.
Schitt’s Creek grabbed our hearts and souls. As a same-sex couple, my wife and I just bask in the beauty of Patrick and David’s love story, and Alexis and Ted’s love story. Love is love. Thank you Daniel Levy for this magnificent ode to love. We will be forever grateful that you shared your genius with the world.
chess the shih-tzu If you tell me to fold in the cheese one more time... 😂 This show has saved my sanity this year, I think! I just started to watch it right around when everything was shut down. Now, I am savoring the last season. Haven’t watched the whole thing yet! Here’s to hoping you and your family stay safe, sane, happy and healthy! ❤️
@@WatchMojoLady My sister told me about this show from season 1 but I never got the chance to get into it. Too bad it took so long to get the recognition that it so deserved but glad that it finally did.
I LOVED Stevie’s scene singing the last song in Cabaret. As Stevie’s character is quiet/shyish /not super confident and you see the shock and surprise in her face at the end like “I just did that” ugh I loved it I actually was tearing up for her!
I agree. I was recommending the show yesterday to a friend and one of the highlights was that it has the best romantic relationship on TV period. Left it vague. Next text said the show is simply the best which you’ll understand when you watch it.
Stevie's performance always chokes me up because of how much she puts her entire soul into it! And I listen to Noah' s recording of that song quite often because of how beautifully he sings it!
Their are so many great characters in this show, but Catherine O’Hara is my favorite. Her scene trying to film the wine commercial, was my absolute favorite.
Alexis stated her album was "critically reviewed". Notice she didn't say "critically acclaimed". Hahahahaha Plus, I love how Moira IMMEDIATELY nudges Jocelyn with her heel to indicate to say, "Told you her singing's a hot mess".
I laughed myself hoarse binge watching this! I knew 40 years ago that Catherine O'Hara was a comic genius. I am thrilled her breakout role finally arrived! This show is "Seinfeld" great!
This isn't Catherine's breakout scene. Yes, her talent on SCTV was evident decades ago, so that is her true 'breakout'. Yet they called Home Alone her breakout role, then A Mighty Wind, and so on.
@@myswanktrendz Catherine O’Hara is iconic. The role of Moira feels like her breakout role because of the freedom she was given to make that character her own. She is a fricken comedic genius. I never knew until recently even though I had seen her in Home Alone and of course SCTV in the old days. My respect for her is through the roof.
Shouldn't have taken Emmy awards to bring this series to the public eye. It is the perfect human story in every way. And yes, we all need further episodes.
Ugh. I hope Dan brings everyone back in a couple of years, even if it's a tv movie! Alexis and Ted need to get back together, and I would LOVE to see if David and Patrick have a kid. Hopefully, Stevie finds true love, and see if Twyla explores to the world, see if Mutt takes over as mayor from Roland, have Jocelyn and the Jazzagals go on tour, see how successful everyone is or isn't. Maybe that they finally find a buyer for Schitt's Creek or something, who wants to demolish the town, as point of conflict. I miss this show already!
I watch this from season one to season six in one weekend… the most emotional and happy time I ever had. It was beautiful and sad at the same time. Love the show.
So I've watched the entire series at least 3 times and now I think it's time to watch it again. Its just so perfect. I was sceptical going in because I figured it would be the standard "fish out if water" plot, but its genuinely just a staggering piece of art. It doesn't fall on the tired sitcom tropes that you've come to expect- it zigs when you think it will zag. I love it so much.
the part about the audience - yes! at weddings i always look at the groom when the bride walks in bc everyone is looking at her but his face seeing her for the first time is always just the best ❤️
This is one of those shows where if you lost any of those characters, the show would not be as good as it is. It's rare that a TV show has so many strong characters that you just couldn't do without any of them.
I’m still sad Ted and Alexis never managed to make it work. Like, she can travel to New York but can’t also manage to commute back and forth to The Galapagos??! Why???!!!!!
I thought their story arc made sense. They were both very mature about it at the end, in a way that highlighted Alexis’ growth. It was a kind and loving breakup. She has new goals for herself and he was following a very different dream. I don’t see how it could have worked.
Dan Levy explained it best in the short documentary they made for the show, they separated, not because they didn’t love each other anymore, but because opportunity got in the way. It’s quite realistic to real life
If anyone deserved an Emmy, it’s Noah Reid. He is a broadway performer, Actor and Musician. The guy is straight but played a gay role really well. David’s role would not have been what it is without Noah Reid as Patrick. I can’t believe he didn’t win. Dan Levy to me gave us a typical gay guy act on TV.
One of my FAVE things about the show (aside from the show's brillance itself) ars the FANS! I have watched SOOOOOO many videos/posts abour Schitt's Creek and always look through the comments and EVERY POST- the comments are ALWAYS beautiful, positive and LOVING loving comments. It'S rare that u can go ANYWHERE on the net anx not see some negativity...but i literally have never seen ANY in ANY of the (zillions) of videos/posts Ive read the comments for. And to me- that speaks volumes about the fans AND about the show itself and the impact it had on it's audience and the type of people it attracts. Such a beautiful show.... And a glimmer of light in a dark time. ❤
LOVE this show, its been so long since i have fallen head over heals for a tv show. I binged the entire 6 seasons in like a week. I love Patrick and David's relationship... and Alexis' and David are the most real sibling relationship i have ever see on tv. the Love hate is great.
I've told so many people to watch this show and I always tell them to give it at least 5 episodes and, if they're not into by then, maybe it's just not for them. Every single one of them has been glad they stuck it out. Personally, I loved it from the first scene. I've watched the entire series at least 6 times now and I still cry at the same scenes. It's legitimately one of the best shows ever made.
The whole cast is so fun and the show is addicting but Moira has to be my favorite character. Her accent makes me think of SNL's Mo Collin's as Stuart's mom but high-brow. XD I love it!
When they swept the Emmys I was like “why did this show win every single award like was there nothing better? I get a few but why a clean sweep” then I decided to watch it and now I get why (Although I still really wish D’Arcy Carden won supporting actress because her acting on the good place is so challenging and demanding, and she does it brilliantly. I love Annie though)
So true!! I fell into the sitcom hole bc of The Office, then BBT, then I found Modern Family. And so, I was really in dire thirst of a new sitcom. And MF really had a huge impact on me when it comes to family sitcoms. And when I learned SC swept the awards I was intrigued. Although the name didn't clicked on me. I still watched it and goddamn. It deserved it's wins. The best of all sitcoms. To how it started, the comedy, the dynamics, arcs, growth, and ending! Some sitcoms tend to go stale but this one didn't. Even though it's just 6 season it feels so much more than that and I'm fulfilled at the pacing and growth they went through
this contains two of the best moira moments. Neither of them involved her talking and both of them show what a ridiculously talented actress Catherine O'Hara is. First, when Alexis is doing her song and starts the 'la, la, la', Moria gives Jocelyn a little kick under the table. Doesn't say a thing but you know what that means 'this is painful, I can put an end to it but you can Do it!'. Second, when Patrick is singing - David and Moira just had a conversation about how humiliating this will be (her offer to pull the fire alarm is so sweet), and then he starts singing and she grabs David's arm - again, no words, just a gesture that says everything. So sweet! Catherine O'Hara is a goddess. I want to bear her children.
The funny thing about the audition is that Moira knew how horrible Alexis would be but Joscelyn wouldn’t listen, so Moira was like “See, I tried to tell you.”
I didn’t care much for watching this show, but after it won all those Emmys for its final season, I gave it a chance And it was fantastic. Well deserved Emmys too
I want to hear the story behind naming the Mayor “Roland Sch.itt” aka Rolled in Schitt. Then his son Roland Moira Schitt. OMG my favourite name in the whole show.
I binged watched Schitts Creek yesterday to its last season and since then I'm watching all the RU-vid videos of it. It deserves a new season. David-Patrick need to have babies, Alexis needs to marry Ted, Stevie needs a partner, Twyla also needs a partner and Moira-Johny, Rolland-Jocelyn, Ronnie and others needs to grow more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@dwa3210 Hey, thanks for your reply. Well, I would love to watch how Moira who once was mean and dramatic had changed now after doing Sunrise Bay Reboot, it will be good to see her humanity at times. For Johny it will not be easy to set up the Motel business, we can have many scenes of him with Stevie and Rolland, planning things out and how they do it will be interesting. We never saw Ronnie's storyline, I believe she's Lesbian, how funny she is and how she lives her life with her lover will be interesting too. Jocelyn should become more confident, and it will be amazing to watch how she will handle Jake as well as Rolland Junior here. So they all have got so much on their platter right now. They can literally expand a lot in these characters. How will Moira and Johny behave when they become Grandmother/Grandfather. Roses have kind of adopted Stevie and she deserves love story too. We need to see how David adjusts with Patrick's parents. I want David-Patrick to have two babies, one from each. Alexis needs to marry Ted, because Ted was awesome for her. They can show how these days couple do long distance relationship and it can be handled if you really love a person. They can show her to be loyal to him.
I watched this show continuously when it was on Pop. Now I rewatch an episode at night before bedtime. In all this craziness of 2020, I need a laugh to put me in the mood sleep.... to set aside all the nuttiness..... I think I’m on my 4th rewatch and I’m now in Season Six. I see and hear something new each and every re watch. Call me crazy. This show is timeless, genuine and so sweet. Each and every character is perfect. If I had to pick one, I would say Annie Murphy. What an actress. Her comedic acting skills and her scene with Ted ending by mutual consent, was beautiful. I cried. I can’t wait to see her in anything.... drama, comedy, more Alexis!
I'll always be thankful of Schitt's Creek for introducing me to a gem of a human being, that is Noah Reid. What a specimen of a man, he is. Gorgeously handsome, and he turned out to be an incredible musician and song-writer. His music just brightens the day.
Re-watching Schitt’s Creek while bed-ridden with Covid during an ice storm in Greenville TX...with no electricity. The ONLY thing getting me through all this is SC (& and my hubby and our pups). Decided to look at RU-vid videos as well. Yours is the first one to mention that Daniel Levy said there was chance that the gang may get back together some day (paraphrasing). A girl can dream. Thank you for simply the best thing to look forward to...❤️🙏🏻
Watched the final episode last night. 😥 Wanted the show to just keep going & going. We found a 'lift' at the end of every episode. Numerous 'laugh-out-louds'. Brilliant writing and acting. A bright spot in the middle of a Pandemic. Miss it already.
I'm bereft after watching the last episode of SC, my life won't be the same after our nightly viewing ended last week. I love all the characters, they became friends in my mind and the last episode was so emotional I cried and thought about it for days afterwards. Maybe they were right to end it and perhaps it would spoil it if they brought it back but I'm going to miss them all so much.
