I have a question. If I use one of these controllers without MIDI outputs and use an interface will it reduce latency? I mean when there's 2 USB devices on the computer one being MIDI controller and the other is an interface.

Can't decide between Novation Launchkey 49 MK3 and Arturia KeyLab Essential 49. I'm a beginner at piano, I'm normally a guitar player and I want to learn piano, I found these 2 models that are quite the same price and both of them look pretty interesting, but I can't decide which one should I buy.

Can you give me some advice on the Alesis V49 vs the Akai Mpk mini 3? I'm a guitarist and if like to start making beats and music on FL studio. I don't have experience playing piano so I figured the 49'Key would give a better base to learn?

I would always go for a 49 key midi keyboard. With 25 keys, you will feel like an upgrade is needed in a few years, but with a 49 key you'll never have to upgrade and waste money.

49 key is big enough to play chord progressions/melodies a 25 key is not tbh . Unless you play small basic chord progressions then the 25 should be fine.

What about the latency of these products. I've purchased a couple midi keyboards but my problem mostly is the lag between hitting the keys and having the note register in the daw properly. I want to get the novation launchkey mk3 49

The only way to change your latency is to get any audio interface. Connecting a midi keyboard to a laptop with no audio interface will create latency. With an interface... all midi keyboards won’t have any latency 💪🏼

@@EdwardSmithMusicnot really the ONLY way it Depends on if your running a potato system really and it can't handle lowering the buffer size in the Audio driver , if your in windows and not using Asio drivers then it's automatically gonna be bad lol , so you don't neeeed an Audio interface to get latency down if your computer is halfway decent but if you got the money and need it for something else also go for it

I'd recommend the Nektar Panorama T4 or T6 instead of the Impact. I returned an Impact because I didn't get on with the velocity sensitivity. On the Panorama you can adjust it.

My Oxygen 49 had a major malfunction with the drum pads, where they would trigger randomly despite not being pressed. And eventually the port for a sustain pedal stopped working. Not sure if i just have bad luck or its common with the oxygen 49

@@francescopagliarini5085 THERE IS ONE THING ABOUT THE LAUNCHKEY MKIII. People usually tell that if you play piano or are used to regular keys, dont buy it. It has a weird feel to the keybed. If you have a higher budget, get the novation SL MKIII. But if u are okay with the keybed then get it. I honestly think that the Arturia Essential is great. It's not only affordable but it is reliable and comes with the Analog lab software which comes with Arturia midi keyboards

im still trying to see if i get the mpk249 or Alesis VI49. Although ive owned the Akai MPC 3000, now the mpk2 mini, and work with the mpc software, i dont mind working with new stuff. Im so interested in the maschine mk3 and its software.. Ugh! Decisions, decisions! lol

Your review is called "BEST"midi controllers, and then you forget to put the high end controllers in your list? the 3 keyboards with most tactile feedback due to a large screen, which also have the best integration with your software? I am talking about the Novation Sl MK3, teh NI komplete kontrol S49 and the Nektar panorama P4... next to that all 3 of them have aftertouch and both the Novation as the NI one have the best fatar keybed available. What is your reasoning not to put these in your top 10?

Hi Edward, great video, I hope it will help me to chose ... my first idea was to buy a Roland A-500 Pro as I do believe Roland is the only one pro brand among those you presented which has decades of experience in keyboards (my first Roland was in 1991, a D10 Synth ... 🙂 ) ... however apparently this model is 10 years old and I'm not sure it's the best choice compared to newer models like M-Audio Oxygen 49 MKV (for instance) ... what do you think about this? Is the current A-500 Pro the same as it was 10 years ago or Roland renew it? Thanks Edward if you give me an answer ...

@@buenso80 Hi, I discovered that Roland A-500, still sold today, is the same of 10 years ago which is, in my opinion, a bit too much ... there is another boundary which I didn't considered before, the physical space on my desk below PC screens ... so, at the end of the story, I moved to a simple (and cheaper) Icon ikeyboard 5X, for its dimentions but also for the half weight keyboard, very nice to be played because of its soft (but not too much) touch ... and now I'm happy with this choice ... 🙂 ... and, by the way, if I had a bit more physical space I would chose the Novation Impulse 49 ... 🙂

Only a few affordable keyboards have both semi-weighted keys and after touch.

Would be useful to have an idea of price differences. Also any kind of idea about features that set each of these apart. Could do a ranking, or at least your favourite and why. E.g. the M-Audio Keystation doesn't have any pads or faders, so it's more of a simple midi controller. And do any of these keyboards have any common issues, e.g. the wheel sticking or whatever? Also stop calling it a 49 kimiddy keyboard.

@@rajkamaljangir3618 No not at all. Latency will depend on your buffer size set in your DAW. The smaller your buffer size the less latency.
