The best winter sandwich is grilled cheese, tomato and bacon, best summer sandwich is fresh tomatoes, cucumber, cheese with mayo. No doubt easy fulling and affordable for the family. In the winter add soup with the sandwich and you've got a nice meal.
The "Poor-Boy" (Po-Boy) sandwich was created to feed hungry streetcar operators that were on strike in New Orleans in the early 20th century and did not have a lot of money to spend on food. The original "Poor-Boy" sandwich was just hot French fries with roast beef debris (roast beef gravy with small pieces of meat) on an entire 36" loaf of "French bread," and they are still made that way to this day with the name "French fried Po-Boy." The "Poor-Boy" was only $.05 USD, so the strikers could eat all day on just one and stay on the picket line.
