Catches inside 30 yd circle are best catches when compared to boundry line. Reason being fielder will have no more that a few milliseconds to react and the ball would be travelling. Boundry catches, fielder has time to judge it, he can get a run up and time his dive but 30 yd, its instinct , take off from where you stand in the direction of the ball and make it stick, then the landing should be soft else ball will pop up.

When u decide best catches category ,if these taken in first circle on the field,you should choose only hard hit shots by batsmen and most of these those catches should have been taken near boundary ropes, because while taking those catches fielders attention towards boundary rope makes these more difficult

I saw a catch in under 16s when I was playing my team-mate hit a flat ball was headed for 6 and the fielder and captain had to run, jump, catch the ball on his wrong hand upside down and land on a hard as nails sheep paddock and hold onto the ball. Now there have been better catches most definitely but for the supposed skill level for a small town kid, the fact he played in the summer only and once a week, and the surface he caught it on makes it the best catch I have ever seen, easily. 20 years ago and I still remember it vividly.
