For cheap $1 tacos, I go to Leo's Taco Truck, which is located in the parking lot of a gas station on the corner of La Brea Ave. and Venice Blvd. I recommend the Al Pastor tacos, which come with roasted pineapple.
I've seen some of his videos already. I gotta say that Chris is very informative and helpful regarding all things L.A., including the info in this video about the top 10 affordable eateries in L.A., which was the most helpful for me because i'm a struggling music artist, therefore, when i'm out and about in L.A., when i move out to L.A. i can grab a bite to eat at any of these eateries Chris mentioned in the video. :)
One thing I discovered there is that LA is a total Burger Town...there are burger joints everywhere. And the other even more surprising thing is that there are really good Doughnut stores on every block...way more than any city I've ever been in.
Best tasting and affordable Mexican food in Los Angeles is Cactus! There's one on Beverly Blvd near Western Avenue. You got to try their Super Fries and Super Nachos. You can have Carnitas, Lengua & Asado. My favorite is Lengua! There's another good eats in Los Angeles called Gran Burrito at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Vermont Avenue. They're open 24/7! I always order Lengua Burrito. Bomb!
I really like your practical tips like the cleanest bathrooms or shortest lines. I'm making tons of notes from your vlogs. Pity I won't get to try these places till our big trip in 2020! I'll probably have a book full of suggestions by then.
I’m a Los Angeles native and he only mentions overly hyped places. Most of these are not cheap either. First of all The Grand Central Market was never ran down. It was mainly occupied with Latino food and candy stands. There was also a spot called China Cafe (which I love) Los Angeles is now very gentrified. He only seemed to mention places that attract gentrifiers. Even king taco has changed. I can give you tastier and cheaper alternatives to everything he mentioned here except for Portos and In n Out. Those will forever be a classic.
I’ll vouch for Philippe’s, Suehiro. Philippe’s and Suehiro are local with Phillippe’s near Chinatown and Suehiro in Little Tokyo. Philippe’s has free parking near the restaurant and at the parking lot across the street adjacent. Be prepared the hunt for parking at Suehiro. I also recommend: Langer’s for their #19, often imitated never duplicated (Capriotti’s Capastrami comes to mind), Cassell’s hamburgers is a local burger joint not far from Langer’s. Langer’s is in MacArthur Park while Cassell’s is near Koreatown. Langer’s does have validated parking about a block away. Be prepared to hunt for parking at Cassell’s. Chain restaurants that are worth mentioning are: Tommy’s Hamburgers with the original location at the corner of Beverly Blvd and Rampart, Yoshinoya (if you’re interested in rice bowls) which originated back in Japan has multiple locations in Southern California, Zankou Chicken (roasted chicken) with multiple locations in Southern California.
Some of our grocery stores have pretty good food courts! I highly recommend Northgate Gonzales for Mexican food. Various locations. And also recommend Mitsuwa Japanese Grocery store. Various locations too. The ramen at Santouka is great! Bristol Farms and Gelson's are higher end grocery stores with cafes that are worth a visit as well.
Thai Town in east Hollywood has several great cheap restaurants, AND they stay open late unlike a lot of restaurants in LA. My mouth is watering as I type this!
My current fave is Crispy Pork Gang at 5253 Hollywood Blvd. I love their noodle soups. Their spicy sliding scale leans toward the hot side so order accordingly. Medium spicy is hotter than usual. Yum!
Everything looks so delicious! Whenever I visit California next time, I need to make sure to visit In-N-Out Burger as I regret not going there when I went to San Francisco two years ago!
I like to hit up "Carnitas Michoacan" near Lincoln Heights. Open 24 hrs . Love their Carne Asada nachos after long night of drinking. 4AM crowd is the best Also for cheap eats, the HAT has been a good go-to. They are known for their Pastrami sandwiches and Chili Cheese Fries for really good eats for cheap, you have to go with Vietnamese Sandwiches (aka Banh Mi) . These will make you wonder why you would ever pay more than $5 at generic Subway.... when you can have glorious and heavenly Vietnamese Sandwiches... check out these places in SGV : Bánh Mì Chè Cali, Ba Le, or Banh Mi My Tho
Grand Central used to be "run-down"? lol Grand Central Market used to be where my family and I would go eat for a plethora of options on a bunch Hispanic/ Latin American food. It's where my grandma would go to buy extremely inexpensive produce and bread. It's now established by a ton of "hipster" food stalls that are way overpriced. Great video, but as someone who was born and raised in L.A., I find your research on the location a bit misguided.
My research on Grand Central is also from personal experience visiting it over the years. Just because something is rundown doesn't make it bad. I go to plenty of rundown foodie spots in SD that are delicious :). And yes.. it's a bummer that much of the food in Grand Central Market is expensive in comparison now.. the new stalls have brought way more people to the market. Those lines at Egg Slut are crazy!
Exactly, I live in Downtown LA now and I made the mistake of actually thinking I could find several produce vendors. Boy was I wrong! Only two out of all of the stalls and only one fish vendor? This means only one thing, the gentrification thing of trying to turn Downtown LA into another Manhattan is slowly ruining a lot of the original stuff. On the flip side, I wonder why he skipped Egg Slut which is right in front on the Broadway side? it's almost always recommended by any and all food sites and it's cheap.
east side market is way better than philippes, it's a few blocks from phillippes, try it it's an Italian family owned deli since the 30's.try the D.A. sandwich,or the popular #7.
Coming from LA myself I can say this is a good list. Another good Southern California burger place is Tommy's which makes a great chili burger and has amazing fries. There are some rip offs like Tomy's or Tom's so be careful.
Cheese burger or double cheese burger with chili. also the chili cheese fries or if that is too much chili just a regular fries. they also give out pickled chili peppers that are about as hot as pickled jalapeños. so pick some of those up or ask for them if you like spicy stuff.
Hi cracyrace.. nothing about San Francisco itself. I do have a video about Napa Valley where alot of people take a day trip from SF: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6hWcdFTHcIA.html
@@YellowProductions it is not a restaurant. It's an evening pop-up place. It is open from 7:00 p.m to 12p.m. Thursday thru Sunday. The address is 5424 Cahuenga Blvd. They are on Instegram. Thanks Cris. I leaned something knew about French Dips (a favorite). I love Pinks and visit whenever I am in Hollywood and have the time; good to know they have a LA location. I may have to explore LA a little more.
love pink's but i do the cheese burgers they know how to cook a burgers right and juices without smashin the hell out of it ..with fries/orion rings half half
lived in glendale for 12 years, never been to king taco though i love tacos, parking at universal citywalk is pricey so i would rather go to pink's by melrose and la brea, other cheap eats are norm's or a hotdog and soda at costco, for chinese i like full house in chinatown, sanamluang for thai by western and normandie, yoshinoya, sizzler
You must of been in L.A. for just a week because non of those places are cheap and stop giving the wrong price.. The best places that is cheap, large quantities, and delicious is in the hood. Check it out (at daytime)!!!!¡!! 😋
Check out Chef Roy Choi's Restaurant in Watts. It's called "Lolcol" Its chef driven fast food you'll love it! and its cheap! On a side note,Great video!
Speaking of burger, my friend once took me to Fuddruckers in Buena Park. I was amazed by their large selection of meat (elk boar etc) and sauce. We had a very enjoyable meal that evening. By the way your tips are so useful! Thanks!
