I absolutely LOVE Bane! I've even had some PCs take the Magic Initiate Feat just to get it. Being able to affect ALL of a critters Attacks & Saving throws, on 3 critters, for a full minute, is incredible and pairs wonderfully with a host of other spells. :)

Shocking grasp could be pretty useful for an Aberrant mind sorcerer. If they succeed against your Tasha's MW or Dissonant whispers, it seems like a good quickened cantrip to fall back on

I think Hold person is pretty good too , bc the paralyzed condition is strong , only downsides being that it only targets humanoids and gives them a chance to recover at the end of its turn . but for a 2nd level spell i dont think its bad especially when fighting a single creature.

Hold monster is one of my favorites. Granted it is a fifth level spell, but just being able to inflict the paralysis condition on a failed wisdom save is pretty good.

As someone that played a Fiend Blade Warlock from 6-20, Spell Sniper for Shocking Grasp can be absolutely devastating against any creature with Counterspell. Either you can bait it out with casting a spell, or you can hit and eat their entire reaction, and in either case you still have your Bonus Action and movement. The only trick is that the DM has to have the monster predict that you're going to open your turn with a cantrip instead of something big possibly followed by a cantrip.

As far as cantrip debuffs, I used chill touch to defeat a cleric bbeg and the next bbeg and mind sliver to help defeat the next bbeg.

A Circle of Spores druid would have it always prepared. If you can get a strong ally to knock the enemy prone, you will have an easy source of advantage that combines well with Elven Accuracy.

I’ve based an entire home brew campaign arc around the spell as an invisible area of effect with a tiered saving throw for how many of the effects they suffer while within the field. Sums up how cool the spell is and the fact that it is useless as written

What do you mean? Contagion is a bbeg buster. It applies the disease on the successful hit. They have to succeed 3 times before it goes away, and if they fail 3 times it lasts 7 days with no more saves. Also, it's a disease, not a poison, so immunity to poison wouldn't apply.

A favorite combo of mine to use with heat metal, is to shoot an enemy with an arrow or a bullet, then its incredibly difficult for the enemy to pull it out or use an action to pull it out.

If I'm reading contagion correctly, the disease takes hold on the hit. The 3 con saves are to determine how long they're diseased, so a minimum of 3 turns up to the duration which is 7 days. This spell is much better than the narrator is portraying.

I am surprised sickening radiance is not on the list. Exhaustion is an insane debuff especially if they fail more than 2 saves

There is nothing in the rules stating that if you cast heat metal On a weapon that has a wooden handle You can't use it as an offensive buff.

The wording of the spell says they have to be in contact when you cast the spell, meaning you can't really use it that way

Top 10 best debuff spells: None. They won't stick long enough to matter. U're gonna lose concentration or they're gonna succeed. So burning a spell slot on a debuff spell instead of just buffing the fighter is a stupid choice.

Nah Faerie Fire is good. For the cost of a 1st level spell you get advantage on whatever targets fail. Say you've got at least 3-4 targets you use it on, that's a good chance it'll proc for a few, then you double your chances of you and your allies beating that target by getting to roll an extra dice. Some 1st level spells affect combat on a small scale. Things like magic missile and thunderwave that are reliable forms of damage. But they're only slightly better than average damage. A well placed Faerie fire doesn't do damage but it can guarantee a win.
