I have been following your flowering advice since I started watching you. Last year I had a few blooms and I'm hoping this year for the BIG BLOOM TIME! A recent clean up revealed a few plants looked like a they needed a little drink so I used a turkey baster to deliver a few drops to the soil. I hope this didn't didturb their winter break.
I bet you will have a blooming lovely Spring and Summer this year Mick :-D and thats perfect that you have given your plants that needed a drink a bit of water, its safe to water any that are showing signs of shrivelling or in need of a drink, thanks so much Mick for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday XXXXX

Now should be when the last of our cacti come into flower. Most of mine have finished too, just two cacti left with buds on, (including an Astrophytum). I stopped fertiliser in the middle of August and am now already on a reduced lighter watering schedule of 14-21 days as well now. Temperatures are a little bit down compared to previous years by several degrees although lots of sunny spells. I particularly enjoyed your opinion of this list and it's nice to see your cacti at this time of the day with low light coming from the side. Thanks for posting! J.
So happy you enjoyed the video James :-D and thats wonderful you have a couple of cacti with buds left to bloom, I can really feel Autumn now and it been so much cooler here now especially at night, the cacti are definitely slowing down now in preparation for the coming Winter, YUK I hate the thought of it LOL! thanks so much for your wonderful support and comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Somerset for a wonderful new week ahead XXXX

Thank you so much Lynn (spelling correct???). So educational and your green house looks like a desert plant store! Very lovely. Thanks for showing us the blooms, stunning. I've got my list ready next time I go shopping.
So happy you enjoyed the video :-D and love the green house, my name is spelt with just the one n ( Lyn ) haha, although most people spell it with two nn's haha
If you are in Northern Ireland ,you get the same sort of weather conditions as i do in north east Scotland, your back garden must be very sheltered to grow those plants as well as you do .
Hi Mike :-D haha yes its certainly a challenge growing these plants in our weather conditions :-D we are quite sheltered here by the other houses, and it traps a lot of the winds, and we have a heater in the polytunnel in the Winter, but bring in all the cacti that need warmer temperatures in Winter into the house, thanks so much Mike for your wonderful support and comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Sea for a wonderful new week XXXX
So happy you liked the info Dear Kathy :-D and thanks so much for your wonderful support and comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful new week XXXX

I just adore your collection, Lyn! I've had no flowers from any of my desert friends this summer. My E. Obesa put out quite a number of buds but they never opened and just fell off. My little Echinopsis which I've had for a year might be too young to flower? Hmmm. There's a thing called patience which perhaps I don't have enough of. But looking at your wonderful green sanctuary I'm hopeful that maybe next year I'll have more luck? Living in hope and plant power! xxx
So happy you love the collection Jutta :-D and I bet next year your plants will all be blooming lovely, thanks so much for your wonderful support and comments and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Belfast to Dublin for a fantastic afternoon XXXX

Great video Lyn! I actually bought a Madisoniorum Matucana on Saturday and it has a little red bud forming. I am excited! Just a thought, but if this video is popular, maybe you could do one on succulents too. Cheers

Hey Lynn, I was wondering if you could suggest any beautiful types of cacti to me. I am filling out a seed order and was wondering if you could suggest some types that I should try to grow from seed? I already picked some astrophytum’s, ariocarpus, and lophophoras & Copiapoas but I was wondering if you could suggest any beautiful gymnocalyciums’ and any other that you think would be good to grow from seed and are interesting or beautiful? thank you in advance! hope your summer is going good 😊
Hi Anna :-D thats fantastic news that you have filled out a seed order, its so much fun and very rewarding to grow cactus from seed, you have chose so well with the Astrophytums and Lophophoras and Ariocarpus and Copiapoa's they are all wonderful choice of cacti to grow from seeds, Gymnocalyciums are amazing to grow from seeds too, and good choices would be Gymnocalycium baldianum and Gymno mihanovichii and Gymno spagazenni as it has awesome spines, but all of the Gymnocalyciums are wonderful bloomers and grow well from seeds, Mammillaria's are fantastic to grow from seeds too, but your choice you have chosen would be my top choice too :-D Good luck with growing your wonderful seeds and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a sunny Sunday XXXX
Hello one of my small cactus I've had a year is sitting wobbly in its pot. It seems healthy and is in a terracotta pot with drainage. Their are 3 stems and on one it's ever ever so lightly softer than the rest of it and some parts are paler green. What do you think could be wrong? Honestly I have very little experience and am not sure on what kind it is. I could send you a photo? When looking online it's hard to find an answer as there is so many different kinds! I'm just not sure on how to look after it at this point! Edit... I should also mention it has been wobbly ever since I repotted it when I got it
Hi Rebecca :-D so sorry to hear that you are having problems with your cactus, it can depend on the type of cactus etc, but if you could post up a photo onto the British Cactus and Succulent society Forum page or the Irish Cactus & Succulent Forum pages on FB, we can all have a look at the photo and see how we can help and the best advice, the forums are open to everyone around the world, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
thanks so much Ziggy for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful new week XXXX
Hi Marc :-D could you let me the time in the video where the plants you are asking about are :-D it will help me to ID them for you, thanks so much for watching and have a fantastic plant powered Monday XXXX
Hi Anabel :-D the Domino cactus is quite slow growing and they grow more taller columnar as they age rather than wider, there are quite a few different types of Echinopsis that can grow larger like the Echinopsis oxygona, but the Domino variety is smaller and slower growing and grows more columnar as they age, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
I use a waterproof permanent pen that I get from the Artist shops, but I still find the ink would fade after a year or two, I now prefer to use pencil to write out the labels as that doesn't fade, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday XXXX
@@lovinghobby9072 the pencil I use is one that comes in the label pack already and writes on well, I buy a pack of white plant labels with the pencil already as part of the pack, I buy them from 'Poundland' XXXX 🥰🌵

Hi Marc :-D haha yes its a Echinocereus scheerii gentryi ' and has thick hanging stems, I am pretty sure thats the cactus you mean :-D Here is a link to a video on this one in flower: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EtPA-MQjp6s.html I have two of them and the one has much shorter spines, its a beautiful cactus and has amazing blooms, the stems are like little hanging cucumbers haha :-D XXXXX
haha, the good news is most of the cacti and succulents I have I have bought over many years ( 40 yrs ) otherwise it would have cost me a fortune LOL! :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
