I think the one thing stopping the Blimp from being more universally loved is the missed opportunity for it to have a unique weapon like Egypt, Tokyo and Hanger 18. Although I always imagined the lightning pickup being Calypso himself pulling an Emperor Palpatine on the contestants! Nice list!
my epik top 10!!11!1!1!11 1. Sunsprings California 2. Sunsprings California 3. Sunsprings California 4.Sunsprings California 5.Sunsprings California 6.Sunsprings California 7.Sunsprings California 8.Sunsprings California 9.Sunsprings California 10.Sunsprings California
Love the creativity with this list. Small Brawl's level design is really top-notch. Even bonus levels like Buster's Lanes and Holiday Havoc are addicting to play. They really hit the sweet spot w/ the size of levels in SB.
If this video idea ever gets revisited I would appreciate music being factored in but it’s just you doing a 5 second beatbox/acapella of your favorite part of the song haha Great stuff Nick! Also my vote would be for Neon City! Carried by the music which I’d proudly sing along to the guitar riff in my car LOL
As for the comunity picks: I choose Junkyard. But my top 10 is: 10. Riverpark Rumble (TM1): showing some love for the OG and it's the one that stands out the most outside of rooftops. 9. Rooftops (TM1): Speaking of the devil, here it is, the level that set the standard for rooftop levels in the series. 8. Junkyard (TMB): A good way to test your skill, if you can't pass it reconsider your choice of difficulty level. 7. Bedroom (TM4): Twisted Metal Small Brawl before it even exist. 6. The Blimp (TM3): A great way to end the game, has a unique gimmick and a good boss battle, the only issue is TM3 physics. 5. Mini Golf Mayhem (TMSB): Everything I love about Small Brawl, very Gimmicky with an another good boss fight. 4. LA (TM2): The ultimate starter level, gives you a chance to try everything the game has to offer. 3. Carnival of Darkness (TML): I was about to put the Carnival from TM4 but this is superior in everyway. 2. Russia (TMHO): love the atmosphere, the design, the secrets, it's the things that makes me love Head-On so much in one level, even though the mini game sucks, killer guns code will do it because Axel won't unlock himself. 1. Paris (TM2): The most Iconic level in the series for a reason, it's the "Twisted Metal in a nutshell" level.
Between those 2, i say Neon City. It's dark but bright enough for everyone to see in tournament or Deathmatch. as for my top 10 they are... 10. Minion's Maze. (No Joke} 9. LA (Head-on) 8. Paris (Head-on) 7. Blackfield Asylum 6. Skyscrapers (Black) 5. Tokyo (TM3) 4. Construction Yard (The original Junkyard) 3. Now Slaying (Not sure why) 2. Hanger 18 1. Tokyo Rooftops (Head-on) That's all that i have on top of my head without going into details.
5 months late but here's my top 10. 10. A three way tie between Downtown TMB, London TM3, and Hong Kong TM2 9. Black Rock Stadium TM2012- I find the gameshow inspired death traps and the grind housey feeling coliseum exceptionally charming. 8. Mini Golf Mayhem TMSB for the reasons you stated 7. Cyburbia TM1: Many would say this map is needlessly massive but with the cut throat enemy AI of TM1 you will appreciate that extra room to let you choose when you want to confront opponents. 6. The Blimp TM3- Once again a nice mix of verticality and providing corridors to contrast a wide open but satisfying to fight in area in the top platform, plus the generator diversion is a nice touch 5 . Prison Passage TMB- Variety of environments is the reason again, Incognito proves to be masters of the bait and switch. 4. The Carnival TM4- Very esthetically pleasing to me. Many find the haunted house portion to be terribly linear but it proves to be a handy escape from the wide center battleground as well as the circus tents and Rollercoaster adds verticality 3. Easy Death Oven TMSB: I would consider this #1 as well if some of the hazards were more useful against enemies. 2. Freeway TM: B - The many different environments make up exceptionally well for any annoyances that come from the civilian traffic 1. Amazonia TM2 - The wide open layout and lava hazards just prove to be a perfect combination.
As soon as you said there'd be more Small Brawl maps in the list, I immediately called both. I said it was going to be either the treehouse or the kitchen that you'd go back to SB for.
Junkyard wins the community vote for me... But by what margin? 01: Buster's Lanes (TMSB) 02: Paris (TM2) 03: Playground Peril (TMSB) 04: Junkyard (TMB) 05: Easy Death Oven (TMSB) 06: Neon City (TM4) 07: River City Rumble (TM) 08: Los Angeles (TM2) 09: The Blimp (TM3) 10: London (TM3)
Easy Death Oven getting the love it deserves. I can't remember who said it, but I remember seeing a video where someone said the level was bland, and all I could think was, "Lmao! How dare you?!" Probably my favorite level from TM:SB. As for the question at the end, that's actually super tough. Both levels are really great. While I prefer TM:B as a game and really wanna say Junkyard, I think Neon City is the better level. Between the train, the special area, the rooftops, the unique aesthetic, and the excitement of encountering opponents in narrow pathways (like Minion's Maze but not crap), it's just a really damn good level. So I'm gonna go with Neon City. My personal favorite level in the whole series, however, is Metro Square in 2012, which I know is probably kind of a hot take. I just always find myself having a lot of fun on that map. It's snowy, it's Christmas-y, it's got a lot of different unique areas, it's got a subway system, and the map layout itself always made for some strategic fun whenever I played with friends. It's just the perfect map to me.
My bias is gonna show hard 'cause Small Brawl is my favorite game in the franchise lol so for me it's definitely Easy Death Oven. The remixed TM1 music was my ringtone for years, as a kid I would play with my toy cars around our own kitchen, and I'm currently working on a stupid MS paint creation of the loading screen. Small Brawl has always been my go to game in the series and I'm glad to see it being recgonized more in this weird community. Paris is great too, and that music was hilarious the first time I heard it but honestly dude, this list read my mind. F it, I'll make my list: (Edit, I thought it was between Easy Death Oven and Paris for some reason lol, in that case, I think Paris has my vote between that and Junkyard.) 10. TM Black - Snowy Roads 9. TM4 - Bedroom 8. Small Brawl - Buster's Lanes 7. TM Black - Suburbs 6. TM4 - Carnival 5. Small Brawl - Playground Peril 4. TM 2012 - New York 3. Small Brawl - Treetop Rumble 2. TM2 - Paris 1. Small Brawl - Easy Death Oven
I love Junkyard form Twisted Metal Black as for Twisted Metal 4 it's one of my least favorite games in the franchise and Neon City is one of my least favorite levels in the game
