My favorite remakes in no order (except for some of the top spots. Also if it's a reboot franchise I'm only adding the 1st installment of it) - Man of Steel - Batman Begins - The Departed - Casino Royale - Spider-Man: Homecoming - True Grit And more
11.- The Fly (1986) 10.- Suspiria (2018) 9.- Planet of the Apes (2001) 8.- Ben-Hur (1959) 7.- Night of the Living Dead (1990) 6.- Let Me In (2010) 5.- The Thing (1982) 4.- True Grit (2010) 3.- A Fistful of Dollars (1964) 2.- 12 Monkeys (1995) 1.- Scarface (1983)
12 Monkeys is a good movie but I wouldn't count it as a remake. The only thing that really connects it to Chris Marker's "La jetée" is the twist. "La jetée" was a pure work of art whereas "12 Monkeys", with all its artistic value, is more a product of entertainment. In that same vein, I wouldn't compare Soderbergh's "Solaris" to Andrei Tarkovsky's movie (which is a must-watch)
I see your point and your pretty spot on actually. By the way I really enjoy that movie Solaris, but I haven't seen the original version, but I'll check it out.
