I've gotta recommend "Times Supermarkets" for their daily plate lunches. Each Times location has a different daily menu selection (Mushroom Chicken, Beef Stew, Hamburger Steak, Fried Chicken Wings, Roast Beef, Steak, Hawaiian Plates, etc.) with various sides (Rice, Mashed Potatoes, Steamed Veggies, Toss Salad, etc.) (choice of three!). Talk about "Cheap Eats", they have to be in the conversation, most plates run between $6.99 and $9.99... and includes a free drink! Trust me
I love these refreshers bc my brain forgets! Lol! You have showcased so many really good places to go , the full spectrum, from cheap to gourmet and all facets of local grinds!!! Love these! Glad to see you are feeling better, Amanda! Enjoy your bloopers always ! Hard to believe you guys have bloopers when your end product is so smooth and polished!! Great job!!!👍🏿💕😀
Aloha Amanda & Felix. It's amazing how inexpensive these dishes are and how much food they give you. I got a kick out of the first part of this video with Amanda's hair short and both eating the food in the car. Mahalo for showing all of these great places in top 10 form. I'm going to look into the sponsor's product, it sounds like a great thing to have on hand for hydration.
Hey Paula! It really helped me get through my through my sickness (then and current)! By no means a miracle worker but I was surely hydrated the whole time 👍🤙
Just got back last week from Oahu...we went to many amazing places thanks to your videos! Seeing this video just makes me want to go back ASAP! Thanks for the great videos and recs!
Love it!! Your suggestions and good eats are the best hands down. Thank you for sharing. Keep on sharing, look forward to all your videos. Have lots of fun.❤️🌺😋❤️
What a great list of suggestions! I guess you really shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Good looking food from humble looking exteriors. Definitely gonna try a few of those spots. Thank you!😋
Hi guys, I just watched Felix‘s birthday dinner. What happened to your left arm? It’s good to see you eat at a fine dining restaurant, not just plate lunches and take out. I must say I have been eating escargot for years, but I am still a newbie at it. I had no idea that you were supposed to top it with a piece of bread , Wait for the bread to soak up the garlic and butter. Then use the seafood fork and pop it in your mouth. You learn something new every day.😮
I was drooling watching you guys eat the plate lunches from one plus one in Moiliili! I also never knew Richies drive in was an actual drive in lol, and I lived near it for like 10+ years. Yikes! Great video
Hi, that was my wife calling Lucy earlier tonight on Kona. We would have stopped if we saw you earlier but it was too last minute. Hope we didn't startle you. We were happy to finally see Lucy, our dog Rio was excited too since we were haha.
Long time ago I used to go to the Aiea bowling lovey and drive into get my Hawaiian plate lunch on fridays, they would be laulau, Kailua pork, little bit of poi and Komi salmon. Oh man I mulish that place.
Yes, ditto on a thank you for reminding us of more places to try. Wow; impressive new sponsor; I bought a pouch of the Liquid IV at Walmart to take on last vacay but they would be perfect to rehydrate as you did during your stomach flu bout. That is almost as valuable a tip as the foodie places to try.
My go to for Bahn mi is the Bale Le inside of Don Quijote in Waipahu. They serve it on the regular bun or crescent roll. My choice is pate, steam pork, with some spring rolls on the side. So ono !!!
Hey guys, I just got back from Hawaii (Oahu and Maui) but i was a little disappointed that i didn't have enough hours in my day to eat everything! my fiance and I watched your videos all the time leading up to our trip but we just couldnt't try it all. PLAN AHEAD everyone!
Nothing better than sitting out on our hotel balcony eating Foodland Poke recommended by you two… and I can tell you it was twice as good and half as expensive as the stuff we had at the Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai bar last night.
Hi guys! I just wanted to suggest some places for you guys to visit and feature: Cheap Eats: Fort Street Cafe- located in the heart of downtown, they are famous for their garlic chicken; they have an extensive menu, offering many Thai, Vietnamese, and local foods; food is high quality, but prices lower than the average restaurant $$ Eats: The Pig and the Lady- I've always heard a lot about them, but haven't been there myself yet, so it would be nice to see your informational video on them Teddy's Bigger Burgers- I'd love to know your favorite orders and/or go-to combinations there Aloha Cones- attention to detail sets them apart for me. Their poke bowls don't just have fish and rice, but also pickled ginger, imitation crab salad, edamame, cucumbers, and more, with beautiful presentation and freshness. They also offer beautiful sushi cakes, but I've never tried one. Shaloha Pita- one of the few street-food style Israeli restaurants in the state, the owner is a gruff middle-aged guy from Israel. I recommend the Shaloha Plate for anyone who hasn't been there before, in order to try a wide variety of their items. Supermarkets: Another idea that I had was for you guys to do a local supermarkets video. I love learning new hacks or insider tips about institutions that have been around for a long time, especially about plate lunches, poke, and specialty items. I bet there are hidden gem items and hacks that even long-time locals don't know about. Thanks for reading!
Please go to "Iron Grill"🌈 This plate truck is open from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm from Monday to Saturday in front of the multi-level parking lot of Don Quijote's Kaheka store😃 Garlic steak bento is the most delicious👍🏻
Damn it, I’m REALLY HUNGRY NOW! And I just had dinner 1-1/2 hours ago. Fantastic job guys! Really appreciate your hard work. Looking forward for your next video. Have you ever tried “Sunnyside drive in” in Wahiawa on Kilani Ave. My fave, chicken cutlet and for dessert any one of the pies.
Chun Wa Kam!!! Oh man...I love that place. I miss Hawai'i 😭 lol As always loved your video guys. I always appreciate your recommendations. Much Aloha to you both 🤙🏽
Thank you for this video, I will definitely share this with my Turo visitors to taste some local ono grinds on da cheap cheap! Also gonna order me some Liquid IV, thanks for working out that discount code. u guys da bestest!
Just got into the vid. As usual, it all looks so ono. Loved the seafood and prime rib. Makes me ssoooo hungry. Gd vlog guys, as usual. From caliente, nevada, that katsu from the drive in on kailiili looked and sounded so good and crispy. Gettin hungrier by the minute and still 3 hrs til dinner.

Hi Guy’s just tried this Awesome place in Kapolei?Broke Da mouth Grindz. Tried their garlic furikake fried chicken with Smoke meat and onions and adobo fried rice.My son had the Animal burger,he loved it.You will probably get Kanack Attack Action, you might have to check in To Aulani, because you might be tired driving back to Town.lol. Love all you’re videos.Aloha.
Hi Amanda and Felix, I just watched your roast duck kitchen & Jian Bing video. I love Chinese barbecue, but I’ve never had aJian Bing. Looks awesome. I must try it one day. I am curious as to what kind of Asian you both are? Amanda did elude ti her ethnic background in the video. As a fifth generation Asian living in America, Japanese mom and Chinese dad. I am Japanese Canadian, myself. Do you guys hate it when people try and guess what kind of Asian you are. I know that bugs me. I would prefer someone ask me what kind of Asian I am instead of trying to guess. Most people never say Japanese. I always get Chinese or Korean, even Chinese people think I am Chinese. Maybe in a future video, you guys can come to Toronto Canada. That’s where I live. Toronto is the melting pot of Canada. There are so many different cultures living here and so much food to experience. Everything from Ethiopian to Brazilian to Korean and everything in between.
What?! No PAMPANGA Kitchen and no Elena’s?! You hafta put dem bote next time you do anotha top 10! Aloha peeps! Great choices for sure and Felix had me at da mochiko chicken. I go home next week for two weeks and go stay in house in Kailua. Hope to run into y’all during your crazy adventures, but I can’t eat dat much though. Peace out it’s Ed from Pampanga!
Next week will come quick! Unfortunately pampanga kitchen wasn't as cheap as the listed places.. maybe in a top filipino episode? Stay tuned and Mahalo again! 🤙
As TRUE locals, You both should endorse more LOCAL spots rather than cheaper spots that’s been recently been open for the past year or 2, claiming they are local. Local means, born and raised in Hawaii. Not, born in mainland (my parents lived in Hawaii since 80’) moved here 3 years ago and now I’m local… really?!
We've featured over 100+ videos covering all sorts of establishments in Hawaii. Most are local, some may not be. There are "local" businesses out there that want to remain that way and prefer to be private. We are not in the business of disregarding these businesses' wishes. We are also not a channel that will debate on what a local and transplant local is. Mahalo for stopping by 🤙
