also FINALLY SOMEONE WHO LOVES ASPIRATIONS AS MUCH AS I DO. i’m still confused as to why the writers only used sedusa three times in the whole series, she had so much potential
Probably because she was a pretty risqué villain for a kids show but I still think her story arc was handled pretty well and capped off PHENOMENALLY!!! I dare say Aspirations is the most underrated episode of this show.
At 8:53 Blossom was probably just an allusion in that scene because we did see both Blossom and Buttercup's nightmares before we saw Bubble's having a nightmare.
@@HackiePuffs Yeah she probably would react like that because this is a later seasons episode. But to be honest this is out of character for Blossom because she's often nicer towards Bubbles, at least during the earlier seasons.
When I grew up watching the show around the girls age on Cartoon Network, my favorite girl was Bubbles, then Blossom, and Buttercup. As an adult, I prefer Blossom and Buttercup to Bubbles, and feel irritated that they didn’t get more individual screen time because Bubbles was clearly the writers favorite to write centrics for. Also, she tended to get away with being a brat or doing bad things her sisters would get punished for doing in their centrics in her centrics, such as “Bubblevicious,” “Helter Shelter,” and “Neighbor Hood.” Even in “Octi Gone,” Bubbles was being a brat by locking everyone in the house at a dinner party to interrogate her family and all their guests about who took Octi from her, and no one called her out for being very rude by interrupting everyone. All she really got in “Bubblevicious” was a “What the hell, Hero?” from her sisters after shoving her sister roughly to the ground during a game of duck, duck, goose at school in response to her light teasing of babying her, mercilessly beating up the talking dog nearly to death for creating a traffic jam by talking on his cellphone at a go-light, and beating up and/or terrorizing innocent citizens for littering, walking on “No walking on the grass” zones, and parking in no parking zones. Yet, Bubbles’ horrifying behaviors and choices here are mostly played for dark humor that shows her going off the rails. It’s sort of framed as wrong because she gets a “What the hell, Hero?” from Blossom and Buttercup, and she rejoins their team after apologizing for leaving, presumably going back to normal. However, she never actually pays any sort of negative consequences for the wrong she’d done, and gets forgiven much more easily and quickly by her sisters than her sisters do by each other when one of them does wrong in their centrics. In “Helter Shelter,” there’s a build up for Bubbles actually getting in trouble, learning a lesson, and being punished by the Professor for doing something wrong in bringing home a baby whale that she and her sisters store in his lab after he forbids her from bringing home more wild animals. He goes pretty easy on her for bringing home the whale, and tells her that if she really loves these wild animals, she’ll set them free. Granted, I didn’t have a problem with that part because it really did seem like Bubbles had learned a lesson, but then they made her do something really uncharacteristically stupid by setting all the animals from the zoo free for laughs. The Professor was angry about what she did, but she’s not seen on screen when he yells her name from the house, so she essentially gets away with the wrong she’s done, and still gets a place happily in the end screen. “Helter Shelter” had a lot of funny moments like with how Bubbles starts prevaricating and changing the subject on purpose when the Professor gets mad at her for bringing home wild animals and she acts like she has no idea what he’s talking about to avoid getting in trouble for something that she doesn’t want to get in trouble for, which is such a relatable kid thing to do, that “It’s Mr. and Mrs. Squeakers, they live in your sneakers” line, the girls trying to hide the whale from the Professor in absurd ways when they hear him coming home, and the Professor getting angry after walking into his lab, seeing the whale, and getting all wet. However, the episode was still a wasted opportunity to actually let Bubbles learn a lesson, or get punished. I could get past the part about her not paying any negative consequences in the episode at first because it seemed like she had learned a lesson at the end, but then the writers copped out on it by having Bubbles take the Professor’s lesson way too literally by setting all the animals free from the zoo, and got away with it. In “Neighbor Hood,” they really flanderdized Bubbles naïveté by making her give all that money from Townsville’s bank to help that Whimsical Willy guy from her TV show. Granted, she realized her mistake at the end, and gave back all the money to Townsville bank. However, the premise of the episode is that we’re supposed to believe Bubbles doesn’t deserve negative consequences for the crime she committed because they made her too stupid to realize that she did it, which is annoying. I don’t hate Bubbles. In fact there are a lot of centrics of hers that are genuinely well-written episodes of her selflessly helping someone or something in need, her learning how to overcome her fears, or her learning how to express her feelings positively, such as “Boogie Frights,” “Octi Evil,” “Stray Bullet,” “All Chalked Up,” and while “Mime for a Change,” “Helter Shelter,” and “Bubblevicious” have their flaws, I also can’t deny that they have a lot of hilarious *moments.* I do feel sorry for her in episodes where she gets teased by her sisters, and I’m glad she does get to come out on top in the end of them. I just feel like she got off way too easy in centrics where she did something wrong in comparison to her sisters, particularly Buttercup, who always get punished in their centrics where they do wrong, such as “A Very Special Blossom,” “Fallen Arches,” “Down ‘n’ Dirty,” and “Moral Decay,” because she is “the cute one,” and that doesn’t seem fair to me. As for Blossom, yeah, she could be a little bossy, hypocritical, and vain at times, particularly post flanderdization in S5-S6. However, I actually really feel like a lot of those negative traits of hers were a mask to cover up just how deeply insecure of a perfectionist she was. She wanted to be the perfect citizen, daughter, the perfect sister, the perfect hero, the perfect student, and the perfect leader, but she’s not. It generally devastates her when she can’t live up to perfection. It also doesn’t help that both of her sisters aren’t very emotionally supportive when she’s either better than them in some way, making a mistake, or not perfect enough, such as in “A Very Special Blossom,” “Fallen Arches,” “Ice Sore,” “The Mane Event,” and “Not So Awesome Blossom, and that’s why I feel sorry for her. Granted, her sisters do have reason to legitimately be angry and/or irritated by her in some of those episodes, such as “A Very Special Blossom” and “Fallen Arches,” but they also don’t try to offer any sort of comfort by telling her that she can still be worthy of love and greatness without being perfect all the time. They never tell her that it’s okay if she can’t be perfect all the time in those episodes like “Fallen Arches,” “A Very Special Blossom,” or “Not So Awesome Blossom” when they notice she’s feeling insecure or not living up to perfection. In fact, Buttercup kept gloating to Blossom about her failing to execute her her plan to stop a monster in “Not So Awesome Blossom” when she saw that she was feeling insecure over it, which was OOC for Buttercup in my opinion, but it was still needlessly mean. In “The Mane Event,” Bubbles and Buttercup rather guiltlessly butcher Blossom’s hair, then laugh at her with the rest of the city and the monster without telling her what they did until the last second. They kind of got on Blossom’s case for petty reasons of jealousy in “Ice Sore.” Granted, Blossom’s new ice power did start going to her head a bit in that episode when she started making a statue of Ms. Keane and made snow cones for everyone, but she was genuinely trying to use it to help people in need at the beginning during a heat wave at school. She wasn’t deliberately trying to rub it in her sisters face at the beginning. They were being needlessly mean to her at the beginning. The good thing about Blossom’s centrics, though, are that she does get punished for when she is wrong in them, she usually does learn to push her insecurities of falling short of perfection aside in order to save her family when she’s feeling down, her dad is usually there to offer emotional support when she’s feeling down, and/or her sisters usually do come around at the end, such as in “A Very Special Blossom,” “Fallen Arches,” “Not So Awesome Blossom,” and “Ice Sore.” She also gets centrics where she gets to show off just how brave of a leader she can be, such as “Abracadaver,” “Stuck Up, Up, Up, and Away.” “A Made Up Story” didn’t really do her character any favors, though that episode did happen post S4 when flanderdization set in.
Respect. Even if I love Bubbles I can see why some people might not. Bubbles is personally my favorite character because I can relate to her the most of all 3 girls. I love animals, drawing, and I just feel like my personality matches hers. That being said I can admit that she does have a flaw of getting away with a lot more than she should but I don’t really think that’s her fault it’s more of the other characters’ fault for creating this double standard. As for Blossom’s ego I just tend to not like characters that are pretty vain. Arrogance is just a pet peeve of mine. I agree that Blossom does have her good moments like in Ice Sore as I said but she also has her insufferable moments for me which drag her down. As for Not So Awesome Blossom I don’t know it didn’t really feel like Buttercup was gloating that much just felt like she was celebrating a victory. And hey a lot of the time Blossom’s plans are what ultimately saves the day so her having a little victory is something to be proud of. And here Buttercup noticed Blossom was struggling so she decided to step in and help by taking down the monster herself. And when Blossom ran away she tried helping by filling in for Blossom as the leader until she got back. Yeah maybe they weren’t the most helpful but gotta give her credit for trying. And I hate that this episode paints Buttercup as a bad guy just for trying to help. I wouldn’t have minded this episode at all and I actually would’ve liked seeing a more humble side to Blossom but I wish they didn’t have to paint Buttercup as the bad guy just for trying to help. But hey those are just my own opinions and again I respect yours. 💙💖
Yeah, I don’t dislike Bubbles either. I just wish that the writers didn’t play up the whole she’s “the cute one,” as if that’s an excuse for her to do bad things, and I wish the other girls had gotten more centrics too. I do think part of that is because Bubbles is the most kid-appeal girl with her bright, bubbly, girlish, and optimistic attitude. Digging in to Blossom and Buttercup’s insecurities were a little more serious. I think Buttercup got the worst treatment from the writers in centrics, though. It was like they did not know how to write a centric where she wasn’t getting into trouble, suffering, getting punished, being a butt-monkey, or having the world against her, whether she did anything wrong or not, or whether it was actually a fair punishment or not, even if it meant destroying either her otherwise sympathetic characterization and/or destroying the otherwise sympathetic characterizations of the other main characters, including her family, to do it. Blossom and Bubbles got pep-talks from their dad in their centrics when they were feeling insecure, and/or got some guidance and/or understanding from him when they were making bad choices. Buttercup didn’t in episodes like “Down ‘n’ Dirty,” “Cover Up,” or “Moral Decay.” I don’t doubt that the Professor didn’t love Buttercup too. He did save her a bunch of times, he never told her he didn’t love her, he never excluded her from family activities or outings with him and her sisters, and he did have that moment in “PowerProf.” with her where he was calling her the adorably embarrassing pet name “Butterbear” and starts babying her when they were fighting crime together because he thought it was super cute how tough she was fighting bad guys. I don’t think he meant to give her a middle child complex when he named her “Buttercup because it also begins with a B.” It was probably just because she happened to have a more subdued personality than both of her sisters, rather than a vibrant and outgoing one like her sisters that immediately stuck out. I highly doubt it was something that he did because he didn’t care about her. Also, it is ironically a fitting name in the end for her character because a buttercup is a toxic flower to ingest, and she is the “toughest fighter,” so it actually does work. I wish there had been an episode where Buttercup learns the meaning of her name, or what kind of flower the buttercup is, and realized just how fitting it was. But, that being said, hearing your siblings named something meaningful right before you, while you only got named something because it starts with the same letters as theirs, would make a kid feel less important to their parents than the other two. There’s also the fact that the writers didn’t really give her those moments of individual TLC in her centrics with her dad that Blossom and especially Bubbles got when they were feeling down on themselves or insecure. I wish Buttercup had gotten the same opportunity for those individual pep talks and understanding that her sisters got in their centrics. I let it go in “Down ‘n’ Dirty” because really how much else was the Professor supposed to do to force Buttercup to realize she had to take a bath? She has superpowers, but he doesn’t. She’s not like a normal five year old, who he can pick up, while she’s kicking and screaming, to force her to get into the tub. She physically overpowers him. Kicking her out of the house for refusing to bathe, even though she had become so dirty and smelly that it trailed behind her for miles, seemed like a scare tactic to me, not a long-term or permanent solution, and she caved in and came home to take a bath like a day after getting kicked out, anyway. He probably should have tried talking to her a bit more first, but I didn’t think that punishment was too bad, considering just how dirty and smelly she had gotten from refusing to bathe, and considering the fact that there wasn’t much else the Professor could have done to force Buttercup to take a bath. But “Cover Up” really was wasted potential for Buttercup to get a pep-talk from her dad where he reminds her that her strength comes from within, but she can still keep the blanket for as long as she likes AND continue to be “the toughest fighter.” THEN, if the resolution was still for Buttercup to give up her blanket at the end of “Cover Up” because she realized she didn’t need it, it would actually give her agency of choice in the matter, rather than derailing Blossom and Bubbles into bullies who pressure their sister to give it up by teasing her and shooting her dirty looks to make her give it up for no real reason at all, and frame them as “right” for doing that. I feel a lot better pretending that “Moral Decay” was a really messed up and twisted AU that *never* actually happened in canon at all because the sheer level of mean-spirited character assassination in that episode is just inexcusable, and I’m not just talking about in regards to Buttercup’s character, but her entire family’s as well in regards to their very uncharacteristically cold and/or mean-spirited reactions and responses to finding out about her crimes. Thankfully, it is actually one of those episodes that are *never* mentioned or referenced in the series again, and Buttercup mostly goes back to having happy and normal relationships with her dad and her sisters afterwards because I can’t begin to imagine how the level of dysfunction between Buttercup and her family in “Moral Decay” at the end of that episode could possibly be resolved otherwise. “Nuthin’ Special” just felt like a way to make Buttercup look unspecial in comparison to her sisters for no real reason at all. “Makes Zen To Me” actually wasn’t too bad, and I liked how Buttercup admitted she had a problem and had positive character growth in the episode, though I wish that Blossom and Bubbles could have acknowledged the fact that they too had had problems with excess aggression in fighting before, rather than *just* dumping on *Buttercup* for it.
I completely agree with Buttercup and I do have a video coming up where I talk about her more in depth I’m just still trying to write out the script because it feels like it’s gonna be a long video. But for now I’ll just say that I do think Buttercup had the most unfair treatment of the 3. And that I did kinda like the ending of Nuthin Special but I don’t love it either. All Buttercup wanted was to find her special power and find something that made her stand out. And the whole time Blossom was shoving it in her face that she and Bubbles could do all the things Buttercup can. Bubbles for the most part didn’t seem to do it intentionally aside from one smug face but Blossom was blatantly boasting about it and shoving it in Buttercup’s face. And so at the end it makes me happy to see Buttercup satisfied with at least something. Even though Blossom straight up looks angry at Buttercup as she’s happy for finding her unique feature.
Buttrrcrush, The Powerpuff Girls Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever, Makes Zen to Me, Cover Up, Octi Gone, Telephonies, The Rowdyruff Boys, The Boys Are Back in Town, Child Fearing, Pee Pes G's, Boy Toys, Bubble Boy and Down 'n' Dirty are my favorites :)
I have no idea what that is 😅 but another thing I’ve noticed about that music is that it also manages to work in the gangrene gangs little jingle into it so that just makes it even better!!
"Because she's an egomaniac" To be fair, most five-year-old kids are selfish egomaniacs. It comes with the development. Kids literally start off selfish and have to learn to think outside of themselves in order to interact sociably with other people. And *Ice Sore* is a weird episode because Blossom doesn't really get all that carried away with her ice powers. She mostly uses it for genuine purposes, like to save the kids from heat stroke and to stop the flaming asteroid. Her sisters being jealous of her having a power they don't makes sense, but why would they get angry about Blossom helping kids not die out in a heat wave? They tell Ms. Keane "Blossom's doing something bad" when she totally isn't! Anyway, my favorite Blossom episode is "The Mane Event" as I felt the most sympathy for her getting a botched haircut and being made fun of for it. But then she finds a way to use the laughter to her advantage to defeat the monster. It's pretty relatable. *Buttercrush* is easily my favorite Buttercup episode and the Gangreen Gang are my favorite villains. They're so lovably goofy and quirky. Grubber's imitation of Buttercup with that face was so funny. I already shared my thoughts on *Bubblevicious.* This episode did cement Bubbles as my favorite Powerpuff with the added spice to her normally sweet personality but it also continues that annoying trend of "cutesy, childlike" characters getting let off the hook for actions that a less cute character would be skinned alive for. *Three Girls and a Monster* was a drag for me. If it were 7 minutes instead of 11 minutes, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad, but it's a lot of repetitive bickering back and forth between Blossom and Buttercup only to amount to a punchline that isn't worth the setup in my opinion. I think Him Diddle Riddle did a MUCH better job of setting up a punchline for the "Professor will pay" threat from the beginning. I will say that I personally enjoyed *The Boys are Back in Town* on an entertainment level much more than the original *Rowdyruff Boys* simply because the boys had much stronger characterization in the former as well as unique destructive acts inflicted on the girls in their "games" as giants. Also yes, I love Boomer too. He's such a dork, and it makes him stand out from his brasher brothers. In *Power Noia* I think they could've given Buttercup a better fear than a fear of spiders. She could've had a psychological one like Blossom, where she's afraid of her own strength or afraid of being the ugly duckling of her family, I dunno. *ASPIRATIONS!* Hell yeah! Not only was this easily the best episode of Season 6, it was also a great comeback for Sedusa, and one of the best villain team-ups with the Gangreen Gang. Once again, the Gangreen Gang prove themselves as the lost, lovable, underdog boys that they are, and even help the girls defeat Sedusa once she breaks their hearts. These are some good bois.
I guess you are right about kids being kinda egotistical but usually I don’t like characters that are egotistical because it just comes down to my personal tastes. I would say Bubbles and Buttercup are wrong for being mad at Blossom for saving the kids but I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily in the wrong either they’re just jealous of her getting special attention and to be fair Blossom does get a little bit carried away with her ice powers too but I like how she’s humble enough to where it just seems like she’s excited about her new powers and nothing more. I like how there’s no one necessarily in the wrong in this episode and everything works out in the end. I will be talking about The Boys are Back in Town in my next Powerpuff Girls video but I do have some other videos planned for this spooky season that I wanna get out of the way first. I agree with Buttercup’s fear it had potential to have a deeper dive into Buttercup’s psyche just like how we got to see Blossom is a bit of a perfectionist. I honestly wish we got to see that side of Blossom more often. I will acknowledge Bubblevicious has it’s flaws but as YMS said “it’s ok to recognize flaws in something and like it at the same time”. I understand the argument behind Blossom and Buttercup’s arguing being unpleasant but I plan to touch upon that subject in another video. And Boomer is my favorite RRB for pretty much the same reasons. Aspirations has almost everything I love about this show in that episode and I plan to touch upon it again in another video. As for The Mane Event I don’t know it feels kinda satisfying for me because it’s the sister episode of Fallen Arches and I have made shots at ribbing my least favorite Powerpuff Girl during it I won’t lie but I won’t deny it is a solid Blossom episode I just prefer Ice Sore as my favorite Blossom episode.
@@HackiePuffs If you don't like egotistical characters, then you probably wouldn't like Eddy from EEnE either, even though he's one of my favorite characters. Honestly, Blossom and Buttercup arguing isn't always unpleasant; it depends on the execution. I loved their argument on that space asteroid in the movie as it highlighted all of their frustrations. Also, Blossom just sat on Buttercup to calm her down, which is something that felt more diplomatic and in-character for her than literally zapping her with her laser eyes like in Octi Evil. Then there's Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever where their arguing is actually pretty cute and funny and they get over it quickly.
You’re right about Eddy I don’t really like him that much (my favorite is Double D if you’re wondering). And another thing about Blossom and Buttercup arguing yeah Blossom normally gets on Buttercup’s case for fighting crime her way “always the violent way ay Buttercup??” When Blossom has come up with much more evil plans and even hit first in Octi Evil. Blossom have you ever heard the saying “practice what you preach”??
@@HackiePuffs Double D is a lot of people's favorite but Eddy doesn't get enough love. He's an underappreciated character. He's not a bad kid; he just had a bad influence and that was his older brother who bullied, abused, and corrupted Eddy into becoming the jerk that we knew him as for six seasons and the movie.

power noia is my all time favorite its so good but i think buttercup’s fear should’ve been something like losing her sisters, that way we could’ve seen a different side of buttercup
I love it too!! That would’ve been a nice thing to see especially since a lot of people say “Buttercup is a terrible sister nyah”. Buttercup may play rough with her sisters sometimes but that’s her way of showing that she loves them since she’s not that into traditional affection. And since she roughhouses with Bubbles a lot that shows how much she loves Bubbles even if no one sees it that way. That was a huge missed opportunity but I still like what we got. Aside from a few bad moments with Blossom. But overall it’s a great episode and I actually love watching it around Halloween.
Blossom and Buttercup have always been my favorite, and Bubbles drives me crazy. Maybe I just like characters with strong personalities for some reason, haha! These girls both got spunk.
Respect your opinion. I know not everyone loves Bubbles but that’s okay!! I personally like Blossom the least but again to each their own. Also I don’t necessarily hate Blossom but my dog she can be a beach sometimes..
I don't remember Aspirations much since it's been a long time since i've seen it, so I'll have to rewatch it to remember how good it was. My favourite episode is See Me Feel Me Gnomey BTW.
