My favorite detail of gehrman’s arena is that it’s surrounded by gravestones showing you just how many hunters have gone down the same path as you but chose to end the dream, and soon gehrman will be one of those gravestones putting him to rest finally after living through countless lifetimes trapped in the dream.
Placidussax arena left me dumbfounded the entire time, a colossal arena with lightning all around it, while a 2 headed dragon just standing all up there, it's so perfect.
I feel like the lord of storms from the demon souls remake should be on this list seeing all those mini Manta rays flying over you and the fact that the rain stops when the lord of storms is above you is incredible

Orphan of Kos Is just amazing, The feeling that you reach the place no one should. And Is just a coast with a big Dead body and The nightmare moon on The sky, The color palette though, gives It a beautiful sight (In contrast with DSIII) and The Boss feels like a leftover of The world, even if he Is The strongest creature we Will fignt in The game, such simplicity and such a beauty, thats why Bloodborne Is a masterpiece
I would LOVE an arena top ten based around mechanics specifically! There are (mostly in the first few games) a lot of cool areas that add so much to a fight (think Taurus Demon with the dynamic arena that rewards you for being aware of your surroundings or Dragon Rider who can either reward you for completing the area or pose an interesting challenge of space). I don't see enough love for these types of arenas even though they make bosses so much better when employed correctly!
I'd also include Sir Alonne, we never had a similar arena from what I remember, the floor makes it look like he just finished polishing it and you rudely walk on it XD
Nah, Radahn became my favorite from my first experience fighting him pre-nerf with all the summons. Felt like an all out war and I loved it. But fighting him alone is also really fun. The true beauty of Radahn is that the game gives you the choice to fight him however you please.
Ok, just wanna thank you for this video dude. It's clear that alot of thought went into your picks and it shows. I enjoyed watching it :) Couple things though: Firstly, I feel like there quite a bit of recency bias in your picks. Bit of disappointment tbh cuz DeS, DS and DS2 really deserve more love. Even if they came out on older hardware and if they weren't as popular as the more recent titles, many of the best arenas lie within them. Secondly, I wanna share a few that are worthy of making the list too: 1) Morgott - Fighting at the foot of the Erdtree beside the Elden Throne was pretty epic. 2) Sif - One of the most atmospheric arenas fir sure. The attention to detail in the graves and the berserk references there are awesome. Definitely top 10 worthy. 3) Ludwig - the culmination of your journey leading to his arena does not disappoint. There's literally a long river of blood caused by his bloodlust. Plus the bodies slowly moving during the fight was a great touch. Shame I personally feel the arena is a tad too small though. 4) Artorias - You get to duel this legendary knight in an extremely fitting colosseam. Really makes the fight feel light a grand battle. 5) Orphan of Kos - again one of the most atmospheric arenas. Fighting him atop his dead mother was pretty unforgettable. 6) ORNTSTEIN & SMOUGH - C'mon man, can't believe you missed this one. It's easily gotta be one of the best designed arenas to date. It's still pretty gorgeous too. 7) Four Kings- Tell me your jaw didn't drop when you first dropped into the abyss. It was so awesome Miyazaki repeated this again in Bloodborne. 8) Darkeater Midir- I have my issues with this one but can't deny how beautiful it is. 9) False King Allant - A strong pick for most atmospheric arena. Culmination of the entire journey in Bolateria. The elevator before arriving in the room sets the mood perfectly. 10) Manus/Ebrietas - Can't quite pick between these two but at least one of them definitely deserves a mention for how creepy they are. Both requiring you to go deep underground to this sinister area. 11) Pricsilla- Again the area is beautiful, drenched in atmosphere and one of the few fights where the surface benefits the fight mechanically. 12) Fools Idol- The arena really helps the fight mechanically and the design of the windows in the chapel is just sooo good. 13) Gyoubo Masataka Oniwa- Great use of space in the arena as well as environmental storytelling 14) Stray Demon- For the pure shock value of crumbling through the ground of the Undead Asylum. Also fitting that the Asylum Demon's Stringer brother would be waiting below to trap you. I could honestly go on, there's just so many good ones 🥲
True Monk Bridge, Divine Dragon, Renalla Part 2, Isshin Sword Saint and Gehrman off the top of my head! Oh, and Champion's Gravetender! Nobody thinks about it because the fight stinks, but beautiful with the lore too!
We've got almost all the same picks! I considered Champion's Gravetender and it's got a much better Aesthetic than Friede's but is a bit less functional. Nice to see you as always!

I pretty much knew that either gehrman or isshin will be number 1 hands down I would personally put isshin but one can make a very very good argument for gehrman too
Everything about Ghermans arena/battle/theme is perfect. I love dark souls, I enjoy DS3/Sekiro and have a complicated but sustained relationship with Elden Ring, but whenever I'm questioned about why Bloodborne is and will always be my favorite, this is the sterling example.
I would say instead of picking last boss arena as a category, you just should have put Garden arena, Gerhman, Malenia, Isshin, Living Failure, Gravetander(kind off), Celestial emissary
I feel like there could’ve been more Bloodborne here tbh. The Ludwig arena was so goated, with the puddle of blood covering the entire ground, the corpses piled everywhere, and it was open enough to ensure you don’t really run out of space. Orphan of Kos was one I was sure would be on this list. The fact that you could go in the water which offers an advantage in the fight itself, the beautiful scenery, the orphan crying and looking at the view and all.
Ludwig Arena is the Staple Essence of Bloodbourne Meaning and Lore just like Laurence is the Centerpiece of Bloodbourne Lore according to All Bloodbourne Lore Freaks 😉😉
dragonkin soldier of nokstellas arena deserves to be on here. its my personal favorite in elden ring. if we fought a main boss in there rather than a repeat boss with zero health, i feel like it would definitely get a lot of attention

I agree with the zero hp part, but that dragonkin soldier has an unique second phase and is a very cool boss. I mean, the dude starts flying and shooting frozen lightning. He definitely deserves such a cool arena (and 50% more hp).
This seems more like a Top 10 Boss Arena Types than an a boss arena ranking. Not complaining, as it's an interesting idea; just pointing it out. The title could be a tad deceiving, though.
nah Gael's arena is much cooler than Radahn's. the introduction when you see the most beatiful area in the whole series (ringed city) is just sand, not ruins but sand which in real life would mean that aeons and aeons have passed, was it all an illusion? is there any purpose? as you wonder and walk and you see a dead man crying for help "the red hood is coming for us" and you see Gael THE UNCLE Gael, not a random someone he even help you and guide you through the ringed city. nah dude i love you but Geal's arena got to be number one
My favorite part of Gael’s is if you don’t beat him on the first try, the first and second phases will occur in completely different parts of the arena.
Disagree on radahn personally think the gael arena is cooler. You talk about radahn being a good boss but I’d argue Gael and his story relevant to the lore is even better and more awe worthy. Dope video tho
I noticed that you repeatedly referenced other boss arenas before telling us what your final selection was for all 10 rankings. Was this intentional? It seems like you didn't want us to skip over to each category and see what you selected. If so, it's an interesting tactic to prevent people from skimming videos.
Man… youre really showing your elden ring bias on this one huh? I appreciate the honestly at least but yeah i think this list couldve been more varied this might as well have been a best elden ring boss area list.
For me it's confusing the fact that you are making a top 10 while also separating them thematically. I don't think that works and I wouldn't do it in the future. It's either a top10 or a theme base ranking. Pick one, and stick with it. Just my opinion though. Good video otherwise.
no. overrated boss and the arena is even nothing special to begin with as there are literally dozens of those castle big halls in the series. Dark souls 3 even has a fight in the exact same place.
@@brent8407 Huh, do you know boss arena can impact the gameplay of a bossfight? Imagine that! 🤯 O&S arena is incredibly well designed, it can be used to split the two and offers cover, you just need to be clever. 50% of why O&S is such a great fight and why they're still, to this day, the best Duo in the series, is because of the fantastic arena design. Also, the comparison with Aldrich is dumb, as that boss definitely doesn't have the same kind of interaction with the arena.
@@nirokal i guess you never played demon's souls. I can count at least 3 bossrooms with the exact same design of pillars being used as cover. It's really nothing special. Just because O&S are the boss doesn't make the arena all of a sudden a masterpiece.
@@crow1460 bruh we're talking about the design if the arena, not the boss who's in it. Aldrich has literally the exact same arena what better of a comparison do you need. And that being said, pillars being used as cover is literally like 20% of the fights of demon's souls. phalanx even introduced the idea of being able to seperate multiple foes by making the boss move into the pillars... I'm not saying the pillars weren't a good design choice for O&S but the arena itself is hardly anything special at all. If pinwheel was in that arena yall wouldn't mention this at all, which boss you fight doesn't matter, it's about the design of the arena. And btw calling a poorly designed AI getting stuck on an object a "great interaction of the boss with the arena" is a laughable argument. In that sense father gascoigne's arena is an absolute masterpiece.
