Yes, "For Keeps" made the cut! It's so underrated in my book, and was Molly Ringwald's attempt to break out of the Brat Pack mold, and pursue some more dramatic roles. While the film had an infamous production, it's still worth watching!
She's a great actress, so it's bizarre that she foolishly rejected the lead roles in Pretty Woman & Ghost. Either one could have given her the opportunity to have been one of the most successful actresses of the 90s.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Yes, and it made her a huge star. Richard Gere's performance was wooden & the plot was ridiculous though. Ghost made Demi Moore a huge star. Either one could have made MR a star instead.

I actually grew up near Gloucester MA, so we had to watch this movie in Sex Ed. Yippee. But, I knew some of the girls. There was even a pregnancy pact in my town. It was a big deal at the time. The worst part is, there are still freaking pregnancies pacts today! Massachusetts, the number one state in education, minus the sex ed part.
I can't remember the channel name but they made a video about the pregnancy pact and about how it's "based on a true story". The actual thing that happened was that 18 girls got pregnant but there was no pact (some of the girls didn't even know each other) but the principal just made the whole pact thing up 💀
Mom at 16 was great the end where the her son is saying that my birth mom and i am the only who know what her heart sounds like one the inside made me cry , I am adoped so it really hit home
I Swear if Riding in Cars with Boys is not in here I'm going to cry. Its a true story and its awesome This movie should have been there. Drew Berrymore and Brittany Murphy it is worth it
I was the product of a teen pregnancy. I was my oldest sister's _"oh shit"_ in high school with the boyfriend she eventually married. My parents adopted me from her and raised me as her baby sister. While I grew up knowing I was adopted, I didn't know she was my biological mother until right before I turned 19 (I never asked who I was adopted from because I didn't care). It seems that it was meant to be because she told me that she never felt any maternal instinct toward me for even a single moment - even while holding me right after I was born - and that I had always been her baby sister in her heart. On the flipside, she always felt a strong maternal connection with my niece even in the months before she was born (she was born when I was 11). It seemed meant to be for my parents as well, since they got married and had both of my sisters so young. They were going to be empty nesters before they turned 40, and they weren't ready for that yet. I was born when they were 36, and they said it was the perfect time. My mom said it was getting a gift without having to do any of the work. lol But all of that is a reason why I often strongly dislike the way TV and movies handle adoption from the viewpoint of the kid. Your family structure isn't determined by genetics; it's determined by your heart. Even after I found out the structure of my entire family was "off" by an entire generation, nobody's roles in my life changed in the slightest because they are who they are in my heart. My parents are my parents, my siblings are my siblings, etc. The only relationship that changed was with my niece who is now almost 24 and I'm 35. We're 100% siblings, and we treat and refer to each other as sisters and are very close now, especially now that both of the sisters I was raised with have passed away in the last ten years (breast cancer and liver failure). Yes, my family is odd but it works. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Aww I'm so happy "Where the Heart is" is on this list!! That movie really made me love Natalie Portman for the first time!! I think its really sweet, even when its corny :3

"For Keeps" (1988): “The film was revolutionary for its time. Tackling the topics of adoption, abortion, and postpartum depression from a teenaged perspective.” Well, except for the fact that “Degrassi Junior High” (1987-’89) dealt with teenage pregnancy and abortion from two different girls in middle school.
"I don´t wanna live in the middle of this mess" "That is not the way sisters behave in nice families!" "Nce families don´t have pregnant 15 year olds!" This was beautiful!!!
These movies are unrealistic i'm a 17 year old father me and my girlfriend had our first child 2 years ago now she's pregnant again and i couldn't be more happier we've been married for a year we know each other since we're 5 I have a part time job but we still go to school only our parents know about our relationship and I want to keep it that way this is my story
Out of this list, I've seen Where the Heart Is, Saved!, and Juno. I didn't realize there were so many movies about teen pregnancy. I also thought that Novalee was 19, not 17, but that still makes her a teen.
Tabitha Jackson YES!! I was wondering the same thing. They could have taken off one of those lifetime ones to fit this one on the list. Only def keep Fifteen and Pregnant. I was 16 when when that movie came on Lifetime in 1998. Riding in Cars With Boys is another good movie based on a true story.
I've never seen For Keeps but now I'm going to have to. I had my son at 16, my boyfriend and I conceived through a contraceptive failure. Our parents pushed for abortion or adoption but we kept him, I went through such terrible depression with him afterwards, I couldn't hold him or be in the same room as him without freaking out and crying. This film looks very similar to what I went through
Juno is one amazing movie I think! Jason rietman is such a unique film director and I wish there was more like him. can't wait to see what he does with the new ghostbusters next year!
For those in the replies talking about Precious as a true story, it technically was, but only because it was based on several different events that happened in various different stories. It's still important in the sense that things like that happen, but in this case it didn't all happen to one girl (but it was definitely the assumption that they did which drew so much attention to the film in the first place.
The pregnancy pact is almost everyday thing hahahahahha. The Walmart one was my favorite!! I didn't know about the IRT one. I saw Maria! Precious and Juno were my favorite
I've seen most of these, because a few years ago I was on a teen pregnancy binge. No idea why since I am over 40 and proudly childfree. Anyway a really good movie about teen pregnancy is Daddy starring Patricia Arquette and Dermot Mulroney. It's somewhat forgotten today but back in 1987 when it was aired on ABC it was controversial. It's about a couple who basically had broken up before she got pregnant and they ended up staying together for the baby (though both were miserable). They had to give up their dreams for the baby. At the time many schools used it to discuss pregnancy and there was even a supplemental in several articles.
The year Juno came out, I was in high school and had this summer job. Me and this fellow high schooler kept shouting lines from the movie to each other while we were doing our stuff
*My favorite one is mom at 16 ❤️ it was heart warming also Juno I'm 27 had my daughter at age 24 23 being a mom at 16 is tough my cusin was 16 if you have fire stick they have good pregnant and a movie called father* *Remember if you are a teen and expecting please don't ABORT Just do adoption or for other woman that can't have a child even if it's difficult for you adoption is the best answer there's this movie called Alison's choice I recommend watching it*
Gimmie Shelter 2013 is also a good movie. It’s true story about a pregnant teenager who ran away from her abusive mom to look for her dad for a better family. Well step mom isn’t a big ball of sunshine when she meets her because she never knew her husband had another kid before their marriage and tries to force the teen to get an abortion. So that results in the teen being homeless. She’s also attacked several times by her mother who tracks her down. The pictures of the real woman who went through all those hardships is in the end of the film.
I was 19 years old and pregnant when Juno came out and it felt SO FAR from the reality of actual teen pregnancy. Maybe just for me and the area I live in, but I remember watching it and going "BULLSHIT."
Ashleigh Sanders isn’t Juno 15 or 16. I’m pregnant and just turned 20 and it’s different. Being pregnant in high school is wayyy different from being a pregnant adult.
My favorite song when I was little The flower said I wish I was a tree The tree said I wish I could be a different kind of tree The cat wished that it was a bee The turtle wished that it could fly Really high up in the sky Over roof tops and then dive deep into the sea And in the sea there is a fish A fish that has a secret wish A wish to be a big cactus With a pink flower on it And the flower was the only one of love and effort ........ Yah you get the point
Juno is one of my daughter and mine favourite films. As Juno is so much like my daughter expect the pregnancy. My daughter is 25yrs now in a long term relationship. Her sprit is like Juno. 💖🐩🐩💖🌻🌻🕊🌈🇬🇧
Molly Ringwald just love her.. Where the heart is. Love Natalie Portman . . 😢 Fifteen and pregnant . . Kristen Dunst did great job.. But Teen pregnancy is so common now..😢😢 how we as a parent do more to prevent our young daughter's to teen pregnancy ? ? I as a mom don't want my 10 year daughter to get pregnant so young
