Best way to add a sponsored ad in a video. Stopping and playing a game you just announced on your list lmao. Actually made me laugh insetting that in the video.
Ended 2022 by losing 6 games of Silver Bullet back to back and started 2023 by starting my first Gloomhaven JOTL scenario. Both games are in our house because of your videos.
Found you guys in early 2022 and have genuinely enjoyed your videos this year. You two have a beautiful relationship on camera and I hope it is just as great off. Your passion shows through in every video. I hope next year continues to see nothing but growth for personal and professional goals…. Even though I’m still upset about the Bills beating the Lions and that one loss may cost us a playoff visit…. But I don’t hold grudges 😂. Either way, I hope 2023 is your best year yet and thanks for the enjoyable content in 2022!
Represent those Cap Cliffs Jeff, or Chef Caps (the way they look from the front ;o). Represent! Seriously tho, great video and love seeing the surprise reactions when you hear what’s on the other persons’ list. I’ll def be checking out Downtown Farmers Market and Applejacks. I didn’t know about the bees involvement with that either Jamie. Happy New Year 🥳
So many times I've gone, "Cool hat. Wonder what team it is?". So why not have it on so we can see it, then flip it during the intro. This way it's like "rolling up your sleeves". Happy New Year from Texas!
Wow!! So cool to see WW as #1 on both your lists! It’s mine as well, and I’m sure it’s my husband’s (based on the number of times he requests to play it). We also backed the expansion. Such a great game!!
I didn't come close to getting my hands on 80 releases from 2022... but I'm glad to see that many of the games I did manage to play were on your lists, so obviously I got at least some of the highlights! I'm still looking forward to trying Heat and Vagrantsong.
Jeff gushed about everything and everything just missed Jamie's list. 😂 Jamie I'm glad you repped Endless Winter since I'm considering culling Lost Ruins of Arnak. 😳
Great lists guys! Happy New Year! Favorite games of 2022 1. The Guild of Merchant Explorers 2. First Rat 3. Long Shot the Dice Game 4. Creature Comforts 5. Vagrantsong
It's a great game I've only played it at two but its super fun. If you and Jamie want to try it out, you are more than welcome to borrow it, I'm just outside of Lunenburg.
Just went for a run and listened through this entire video! So much fun... and so much sass in the intro! 😉 I find it so neat the way your personalities come through in your favorite games, especially for Jamie! I've played many of the games you mentioned but I think only Endless Winter and Wayfarers would make it into my Top 10 2022 Games list... but then again I only played 19 games that were released in 2022 so maybe there'd be some surprises! Loved the video as always! Happy New Year to you both! 🥳
Great Lists! I have Wayfarers but haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Really looking forward to it. Other games that stood out are: Dead Reckoning, Creature Comforts, Wonderland’s War, Endless Winter, and Resurgence. I’m sure there’s more, but I either haven’t gotten a chance to play or I’m forgetting. I have two young daughters so I have very limited time. My eldest is six so she plays some games with us, but isn’t fully into the hobby yet. She likes Calico, Creature Comforts, Project L, and liked Isle of Cats: Explore and Draw. As she gets older (provided she’s interested) I would like to introduce her some other games in my collection.
Jeff, I don't understand the hat style - never understood the not bending the hat bill - but keep it the way that it is. The Brothers Murph don't know what they are talking about, when you pushed the hat down it just wasn't right. Own it bro!
Grateful and annoyed that I added many of these to my radar list: Heat, Planet Unknown, Downtown Farmers, Applejack, Wonderlands War P.S. didn’t know I could respect Jamie more from her litany of references but “don’t worry bout it sweetheart” that’s that SPLEH! is like my friends groups favorite vine reference of all time lol
Marvel Dice Throne was my #1 game of 2022 because Dice Throne. Also, Marvel. I'll forgive Jamie for not having it on her list (I'm sure she'll be relieved) since she did include Unmatched T-Rex vs. Dr. Sattler. I loved a lot of the games on both of your lists, but some other titles that would make my Top 10 would be 3000 Scoundrels, Long Shot: The Dice Game, Green Team Wins, and especially Ready Set Bet.
Happy New Year!! Hope the start to the year goes really well Jeff and Jamie! I told myself I did not need wonderlands war... but I need it, great list to remind me of some gems that came out this year!
Another great set of picks… thank you and happy new year! I love Endless Winter and I think I do need to check out Planet Unknown - it keeps popping up on people’s top tens.
From your lists I've only played Verdant, Creature Comforts, Flamecraft, and Paint the Roses (on BGA), but enjoy them all! Other 2022 games I've loved include Three Sisters, Birdwatcher, Gift of Tulips, Keystone: North America, Grove (2021 but I couldn't find it available until recently), and Long Shot: The Dice Game. FYFE, Momiji, and Dungeons, Dice, & Danger were also good and would fall just off my list. I'm looking forward to buying Applejack, Marvel Dice Throne, and Wayfarers and this video added Planet Unknown and Ahoy to my list. I almost bought Downtown Farmer's Market awhile ago but passed and now that I've been playing Lost Seas on BGA I'm not sure which one I'll end up buying. They seem to have similar scoring mechanisms so I'd love to hear your thoughts on the two if you get around to trying Lost Seas.
Wonderland's War was one of my first Kickstarters and we love it! Have only played it at three, though. How do you find it at two players? Just as fun? I just picked up Guild of the Merchant Explorers and have played it 6-7 times in the past week (two times at four players and the other times solo). Really enjoying it. (P.S. Where can I find Planet Unknown? 😫) Jeff, keep that hat perched high and tight and Happy New Year to the both of you! Looking forward to more videos in 2023!
I think 3p for WW is perfect. 2 players you lose the bidding element and I find 4 takes a bit too long. I am not sure where to find planet unknown. I grabbed it at PAX from a store selling Essen releases
I love it at all player counts. My husband and I play 2 player pretty often, and I do miss the bidding aspect, but there are gameplay changes that make 2 player games awesome in a different way. You have to win the site twice to get the castle points, and you only play 4/5 sites. You also get to take 5 cards each tea party instead of 4, so you end up with extremely strong bags. I think 3 player is the best, but 2 player is next best. I will still play and enjoy it at 4/5 players, but it’s definitely a long game!
5 guys?! 🤦♀️ it’s all about In n Out my dudes! Lol. But Im a Cali girl AND I don’t eat meat so I’m probably biased. I will say 5 guys has really good fries. Also just played loose Caboose with our kids and it WAS really fun!
Happy New Year! Good video as usual😁 I've been procrastinating about setting up Discord, but I'll join your channel if/when I ever get there! Also...going to look for Applejack!🎉
Board Game Oracle is my favorite site to look at to find games and what price points its being offered at including each stores shipping costs. They work for USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia right now, and it looks like theres 4 or 5 shops in Canada that have Downtown Farmers Market available.
I wish Wonderland’s War was a hit for us. We *should* have loved everything about it (the production, the art, the bag building, the push your luck, hey i still dream about touching those wonderful premium chips) but something about the game just felt overdone to us (not elegant or streamlined or intuitive) and the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. Sold it in a timely fashion. Maybe didn’t give it a proper chance or we weren’t the right people to play a bloated game like that. On the other hand though, we love the big box Ark Nova and the blast that Cubitos is. Go figure. I think the review by Ready Steady Play really hits the nail on the head of our one-play experience. He was talking about us! But he loved the game like you do, I believe.
I am genuinely proud that I saw the BrothersMurph video and Tim Chuon videos before this one lol The only plausible answer to follow all this slander is a rap battle. Make it happen.
Fiiiiiinally got to try Creature Comforts... and we introduced it to my niece and her bf, who are also hardcore gamers, and they were similarly blown away. I think it might be a Top 10 game for me now, it is fuh-reaking fantaaaaaaastic. The way it uses dice reminded me heavily of Rajas, but the synergies you can create are even more inter-locking and finding Comforts that feed on each other is really satisfying if you can get them to really complement each other.
@@FostertheMeeple i live across the street from a Five Guys, an In n Out, The Habit and Shakeshack (yes, i have gained weight since i moved here) and Five Guys is hands down the best IMO👍
So you guys enjoy Wonderlands War works at 2? We play 2 players 90% of the time but were hesitant based on 2 player impressions we've read. PS- Love this channel :)
We do enjoy it! I think Jamie prefers it at 4 and I prefer it at 3. 2 player you lose the bidding on combat which definitely takes some lustre away, but we’ve enjoyed it for sure at 2p
I mostly play games with my husband, and we love it at 2 players! It has some great rule changes for 2 players that make it work extremely well. It has a lengthy setup time, but since it also has a long play time, it always feels worth it!
QQ: how good is the 2 player mode of WW? i know like 4 is a really good player count but most of the time its just me and my bf and i really want to get him into it :D
We enjoyed it! You aren’t going to get the full game experience as some of the best aspects are the bidding (which doesn’t exist at 2). But we for sure had a good time playing it at 2
Still trying to get full set for games from prior years so have not bought that many boardgames from this year. The ones I did buy, Carnegie is my favorite so far. I bought it originally for its gimmicky player board but I really enjoyed its gameplay. I hope they release an expansion that includes the extra department tiles and the rules to start out in asymmetrical companies. The other game from 2022 that I've really enjoyed is Marvel Dice Throne. However, I don't care for the original sets and having played the Marvel version, it has not gotten me interested in trying the originals. The only other game from 2022 I have played was Heat but only at 2 player. I think I would enjoy it more with at least 4. Have but not tried are Endless Winter with the 3 major expansions and Wayfarers of the South Tigris.
Yea I’ll be honest. It isn’t great at 2p, at least the base game. I will say that the new marauders expansion added hirelings which helps the game to work at 2p. Worth looking in to!
Have you guys ever played Robin of Lockley by Uwe? HIDDEN GEM!!! I think it didn’t do as well as it should have as people were not expecting this type of game from Uwe. If you ever have the chance to play it, I really recommend!!
OK! First of all, I was admiring your hat game not slanderizing it. Second, I do not like it when you smoosh your had down all the way. It ain't right. Third, how dare you call into question our burger habits. Burgers are America's food (probably, maybe?) anyway I'm off to find the tiniest snapback I can find to see if I can capture some of your hat game magic.
Jeff play as a catcher so that is the way to wear the hat. By the way I have Downtown farmer market I think Titan Games have it. A store here in Puerto Rico
Thanks for all the great content this year! I'm looking forward to more in 2023 😊 You two are awesome and always give off good vibes 😁 Almost all of the 2022 releases I have are still on my shelf of shame but I have enjoyed Long Shot: The dice game! I'm planning on playing Flamecraft today, and Wonderland's War and Splendor Duel very soon!
I would say it’s ok at 2p. It loses some of its lustre at that player count though (you lose the bidding option). But we definitely enjoyed it at 2. I would say though it is optimized for 3 players!
I might be in the minority but i dont really like Marvel Dice throne. Its just to luck base for a combat game. You cant really plan what you want to do because of the random nature of combat. I prefer infinitely more Unmatched when it comes to combat games for the sense that you can outwit your opponent if need be.
I mean that’s for sure personal preference! I don’t mind the randomness, means you don’t need to be a “pro” to have fun and play a game. It’s super friendly to new games for that reason, and it’s just such an enjoyable experience!
You’re right, wonderlands war is #1 hands down! My number 2 would also be marvel dt, followed by iss vanguard! Great video guys, can’t wait to see what’s coming in 2023.
We've loved the Garphill games, but Wayfarers immediately moved to the top of my list of the series. It's so good. Can't wait for the other two games in the trilogy. Played Wayfarers of the South Tigris, Mosaic, and Endless Winter over the weekend, and would rank our enjoyment in that order. Endless Winter was a bit of a disappointment when compared with the other two. I think we'd rather play Lost Ruins of Arnak than Endless Winter, at this point. And we didn't even add the three expansions. I think there is just too much going on.
I think I’d have to agree with you! Wayfarers for sure the best IMO, and endless winter didn’t hit for me as much as it did for Jamie. I do think rivers and rafts expansion helped it for me, but yes - it has a LOT going on.
