Hey man! 😄 As per your request: I'm the one who submitted "Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell" as my number 1! 😋 And thank you for your words, it means a lot! 😃💙📚 I'm also 1 of the 2 that submitted "Sixth of the Dusk" to the list, as well 😋 I love both of these stories because of their darker tones, and me being a dark fantasy author, they fit me like a glove (or a pair of gloves, rather 😂)! And I personally classify both "Shadows [...]" and "Sixth of the Dusk" as dark fantasy, which may explain my affinity to them. 😊 I'm actually releasing a fantasy reading vlog next thursday in which I talk about both of these books, as well as one of your favorite short stories/novellas 😉 Take care, and thanks again for the shout out! 😃💙📚
Hey! 😃Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell is such an underrated story! That's awesome you placed it in the #1 spot! I also like the slightly darker tone to this story, it makes it a very unique Cosmere novel, and I wish more people would check it out. Sixth of the Dusk is fantastic as well! Happy reading to you! 📖📚
I loved stormlight archive for the same reason. I haven’t read the mistborn series in it’s entirety yet but… I feel like a mix of shallahn and kalodin in my mentality so when they are making steps to be better I cry If this is confusing it’s cuz I tried to keep it spoiler free 😅
Totally agree! Whenever someone mentions they love Sanderson, I always ask if they’ve read this, and most the time they have not, so I love giving that recommendation!!
This would be my list! 1. Words of Radiance 2. The Way of Kings 3. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter 4. Skyward 5. The Hero of Ages 6. The Lost Metal 7. Tress of the Emerald Sea 8. The Emperor's Soul 9. Sixth of the Dusk 10. Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians 11. The Sunlit Man 12. Rhythm of War 13. Warbreaker
@@CapturedInWords Is really great of you like chaos and hilarity. I love a good funny story alongside the more heavy/serious ones, and the uniqueness and humor just barely put it over some of his other books(that I still love) for me.
@@CapturedInWords if you can and feel like it someday, come to Qc city! I’m pretty sure I’m not the only frenchy fan around here and of course we have an accent, but I swear to god that nothing is worst than GSP’s so if you heard it and could take it, you don’t have anything to fear😂😂
Do most people like Mistborn more than Hero of Ages!? I just read through Era 1 and while I love the more personal nature of Mistborn, Hero of Ages blew my socks off! Hero is my fav for sure
Dang how did i miss your survey 😮 Would have loved to participate. However, thank you for the awesome video! I also love to watch your character & book summarizes! The videos show how much work you put into them and always gets me hyped to read the book again! They are also always the first thing I watch once I see them in my recommendations 😊
YAY! Stormlight archive summary video!!! Also, it looks like the only book in my ranking that matched the rankings everyone else did was Oathbringer at ranking #4.
I still love rhythm of war, mostly because in my opinion it was very realistic for Kaladins story with depression and always falling back into that circle.
I would love to see you finish the whole stormlight series with the in-depth summary. I know its a ton of work, and takes forever. But you've done such a great job with the ones you've done so far. I hope you get around to it.
Great video, and super excited for the WoR summary. I've watched the WoK summary several times! Really adds to the enjoyment of the whole series as it helps me keep it all straight in an easy and entertaining way!
I did not connect with any of the Characters in the Sunlit man and the bad guy was so Bland. Cosmere stuff was cool but it was more like a long WOB. If it was not a cosmere story I would have DNF it. It is my least favourite Cosmere novel of all of them. Dragonsteel Prime is way better than sunlit man for example. :D
I loved Skyward, but didn’t think the rest of the series was at the same level. Cytonic in particular felt like a side quest that should have been a couple chapters but was stretched into a book. I am a big fan of Lift and the Edgedancer novella. I felt like she added a little bit of levity to a series that can be very heavy with mental and emotional struggles. I really appreciated the short reprieve.
I just recently reread Rhythm of War and it completely changed my opinion of it. I think it suffers from expectations after Oathbringer. After the end of Oathbringer the narrative seems primed to expand but RoW is very internal for a lot of it. When you revisit RoW with those expectations gone it reads so different and satisfying
i have only so far listening to audiobooks for cosmere books, and i'm listening to them while at work. so far i have liked every one of them. i don't know how i would even think about rating them.
I only read Elantris, Emperor's soul and Skyward series from Sanderson as of now. Skyward is pretty fun, you should read it, I didn't think an AI could be such an amazing character)
I somehow got the classic and dramatized version of Elantris and I’m excited to listen to the regular then the dramatized. I tried to start with the dramatized but I kept getting distracted and confused on who was talking.
I’m very surprised at the Mistborn 2 data and Sunlit Man. I had BoM and Sunlit in my top 10. Also I still don’t get the Yumi hype, fun read but I didn’t get as much out of it.
I adore Mistborn era 2. It’s my favorite series of his. My top 3 is definitely Tress, Warbreaker, and Elantris, though. You should definitely listen to Graphic Audio’s White Sand, by the way! I think it’s the best way to experience the story! It’s very underrated
Sanderson's YA stuff is awesome. Reckoners is great and so is one called the rithmatist. Haven't finished the video yet so maybe you mentioned that one later.
I’m 3/4 of the way through Words of Radiance right now, I agree that it’s the best of Brandon so far. I’ve read everything in the Cosmere except for the rest of Stormlight, Yumi,Sunlit man, and the lost metal.
You NEED to read the Alcatraz series! It’s such fun! The kids and I listened to it last summer and still quote it. It’s a great palate cleanser or slump buster.
I love HP, GOT, LoTR, Dune and much more.. The pictures of the stormlight archive looks so over the top. I didnt started because I think it is too much (high)-fantasy with hard-magic? Am I right or will I love it because I love the other ones too?
I was really disappointed in Sanderson for bringing out the Stormlight Novella's. I missed the announcement of the Novella's and felt lost in Oathbringer as a result
I am new to Sanderson beyond TWOT as I just decided after my 3rd time through that series it was time to dive into Sanderson's other works. I love the prequel New Spring and all the rest of his work on Wheel. I adore Tress and it will now and forever be a Favorite fantasy novel. I agree, The Emperor's Soul is outstanding the magic arts were so good my daydreams often go wandering there. And my last Sanderson is Warbreaker, which I enjoy the color aspect and the Royal "Tonks" hair but, it dragged and lagged at times, and was way too predictable. Around two-thirds of the way through, I felt like, I could guess the rest, and I had. Beyond Wheel, my ranking of the bit I've gotten to is Tress, Soul, and Warbreaker. I am here on the hunt for next up should I go with a Novella? a Stand Alone? Or is it time to dive into the sexy massive tomes I'm flirting with?
Sunlit Man didn’t get a higher ranking from me simply because I just enjoy so many others more I’ve loved Sunlit man, but I enjoy others more, maybe because of how long I lived with them. I would also say it was a little too action packed for me Also the White Sand graphic audio is great!!
Hello, thanks for the video. I just started reading Mistborn this week. After Era 1 I will start with Stormlight Archive. I'm from Germany and unfortunately Sanderson isn't that well known here. So far I really like Mistborn.
Hmm? stimmt doch garnicht.
"I thought a lot of people love Lift." Oh Jay. True, a lot of people love Lift; but a lot of people also HATE Lift. She's probably Sanderson's not divisive character.
I'm attempting to read all the Sanderson books, and the main ones I need to get to are skyward 2 and 3, and Alcatraz 3-6. And let's not forget the wheel of time, still working in that one. But I think I've read all the rest
I haven't read all of Sanderson's books yet. Need most of the stand alones and I probably won't read his YA stuff because that doesn't interest me. But here is my top 10 of his so far: 10. Shadows of Self (4 out of 5 stars) 9. Towers of Midnight (4.5) 8. Alloy of Law (4.5) 7. Oathbringer (5) 6. The Bands of Mourning (5) 5. A Memory of Light (5) 4. Words of Radiance (5) 3. The Lost Metal (5) 2. The Gathering Storm (5) 1. The Way of Kings (5) Noticeably absent in my top 10 is the first Mistborn trilogy. I liked all of them; gave each a 4 star rating but I liked these others more. If I didn't include the WoT books 2 of them would make it onto the list along with RoW. But I would rather include the WoT books since they are much much better overall than Era 1 in my opinion. Everything I've read of Sanderson so far has been at least a 4 star.
I like his Legion series. And the Reckoners was a lot of fun too. I somehow missed your pole. I guess that's not unusual. I would've picked Words of Radiance as my favorite of his books.
I'm here for all Sanderson's underrated novels. Rithmatist is excellent. Legion (as a whole) is very, very good. I read both as a 29 year old and had a better time with them than with most of the secret projects.
I wanted to read White sand, I just couldn't buy Vol. 1 for a reasonable price. Mostly because shipping from USA is up to 30$, bookdepository didn't have it... just kind of gave up looking for it. Favourite short stories for me are LEGION.
Emperor soul is the best story Brandon Sanderson has written imo and also to this day well of ascension honestly is the least intersting cosmere book I've read and I've read good chunk of them I even prefer Elantris over it
Most of the music I get from those videos is from my subscription to MotionArray, here's one I often use for Stormlight: motionarray.com/royalty-free-music/orbit-of-uncertainty-143157/?q=orbit%20of%20uncertain
@@CapturedInWords Also, by the by, I'm also currently re-reading the entire Cosmere via the Graphic Audio versions, and just started my Words of Radiance re-read a few days ago. Also, I'm using your "definitive Cosmere reading order" suggestions for my re-read.
I read Mistborn a couple of years ago and my gawd it was so boring! After that I have never touched a Sanderson book again. Feels like his books are more suitable for teenage boys maybe
I feel like words of Radiance is dependent on how much you like shallan. It's by far my least favorite stormlight book because she's one of my least favorite characters in fiction
