Preaching To The Perverted came close to having both, but still not quite there. It's a more modern movie that's long since been forgotten. It had Trigger from Only Fools and Horses in it, playing an upper class lord. The main woman was HOT AF, but the script was mostly cringe and you could tell it was very watered down to get through ICC regs.
I quite agree Carry On has always had double entendre and seaside postcard humour... And Alfie was more a social commentary film about male misogyny and chauvinism with clever 4th wall breaks... and lets not forget the scene when Alfie see's his aborted son's foetus... Its one of the most powerful in Caines career.. Am surprised there was no mention of 1971's "Percy" or1979's "Rosie Dixon-Night Nurse" which even managed to get top names in like Denholm Elliot and John Le-Mesurier..
Correct - Alfie was a serious film, in it's own way, not a sex comedy at all. The abortion scene was dreadful to watch. Tippi Hedren fainted away when she saw the US premiere.
Correct! You can tell by the wide, letter box mouth on Blair's missus. Goes with being the most disastrous PM in British history, wife's old man a third rate porn actor.
Fair play WatchMojo for not mentioning how "these movies are from a different time" and "we've all moved on as a society." That kind of pandering can be a little boring.
Whoever put this together doesn't know what he's talking about. Carry on films we're saucy postcard fun. NOT SEX FILMS. They were a fabric of British comedy at the time.
Seen at least 8 of those. Not sure on the secrets of sex or the touchables. But, Alfie isn't a sex comedy. The carry ons inspired the genre, but weren't really sex comedies. And no confessions, you're having a laugh.
I only saw 'Au Pair Girls' (must have been in the VHS era), and good god, it fuelled almost all of my fantasies for the next few years. I'd have been a wreck if I had to see them all.
I'm a big fan of this channel but this is one of the worst lists they've ever done, no Confessions or Adventures films??, Playbirds?, Can You Keep it Up For a Week?, the Amorous Milkman?...and why on earth is Alfie on there?, and surely Carry on films should have they're own list?.
I don't have any favorite British Sex Comedies but American Pie(1999) is my favorite American Sex Comedy movie and Brynhildr in the Darkness(2014) is my favorite Japanese Sex Comedy anime series. I've already tweeted on how similar both American Pie(1999) and Brynhildr in the Darkness(2014) are, especially the " 🥵Steamy Bedroom Scenes🥵". Both of them are my favorite Sex Comedies of ALL-TIME and I still re-watch them Today. Love them both. 🥰🥰
No mention of the late " Benny Hill; Dave Allen at Large ; or Kenny Everett's Video Show 🤔? " I've seen some RU-vid clips of Davd Allen, and some were slightly risque and brief breast shots, and before I get deluged with RU-vid saying all these were on TV ; yes, I know that ! But they were all hilarious to see and laugh at .
One of my favourites was Stand up Virgin Soldiers. A cheaper sequel to the 1968's The Virgin Soldiers. It's in some ways a better film. Obviously more rude. But actually funnier and more knowing. It's also has some nicely done war pathos.
British had sex comedies? The only sex comedies I know were the retro Italian sex comedies. Maybe there is a good reason about that, based on what Insaw in this video mostly....
British sex comedies, saw quite a few in the early 70's when me and buddies reached 16 years old or so and had little trouble getting in to see 'x'rated movies, they were really pretty dreadful except for the odd good looking gal getti g them out every now and again, amazing that they for a short while were a big success at the cinemas which were dying duw to the TV effect, in hand with those were the Hammer and other horror movies with some sex thrown in for good measure but with some gorgrous gals, best of course being Ingrid Pitt, stark naked in 'Lust for a vampire'
I'm more familiar with Jude Law's "Alfie" remake, though Michael Caine's version is a classic. While the protagonist isn't the most likable, it's still fun seeing his antics, and watching him break the fourth wall.
It was never the British people it was the board of censors and movie makers trying to shoehorn 'sauce' through usual family-friendly actors/film companies with tepid, pathetic results, even back in the 70s we had 'the real stuff' under the bed or at the back of the wardrobe lol
Dreadful movies poorly paid £300, down to £50, some complained of not being paid and some actor/performers ended up in a another business because it did not get anywhere , most proved bad actors , even hard core performers have done better
We used to phone the pretty receptionist at my work place, and say "My name is Michael Hunt" and she would walk into the crowded office and ask "Does anyone want to see Mike Hunt"
Oh no you didn’t!?? 🫣 oh yes you did!! 🤣 Non of these seem familiar to me apart from the Carry On films (Carry on Screaming was always my favourite Odd Bod and Rubber Tete 😂) must have had a sheltered life! It was all so much more innocent! Compared to today when its all so in your face! So to speak. Thanks Mojo! Made me laugh
Yes those bavarian sex comedies were great ,they were a lot more raunchy than the British ones, there was a gorgeous actress that I liked called ulrike butz.😅
