The Misti was a game changer for me too. I have arthritis in my hands, so stamping has become a bit difficult. Now I can re-stamp as needed. Thank you for your video!
Love the collaboration with Laura as she is amazing. Super tutorial and great information. I also prefer the embossing bag and mine is 25 years old and still works like new. Appreciate your collaborations all month. You are just awesome.
I happen to agree with your choices! I tend to use delicate surface painters tape instead of purple tape (cheaper), but other than that, yes. And my makeup brushes are from Amazon.
Many years ago the sand eraser was called an ink eraser, that was great to remove the liquid ink errors from a fountain pen..That was even before ball point pens I believe.
Great video! I like many of the same things. The make up brushes are AMAZING!!! My sister gave me a stampin up embossing bag over a decade ago. She had used it for years before that. Its still going strong. A stamp platform has been a complete game changer for me! 4 times a year I make 55 holiday cards for women at church. I often do an additional 35 for my mom's church too. I try to donate 300 Christmas cards a year. The one thing I totally disagree on is the Gemini jr. Personal taste. I adore my vagabond! A friend has a gemini jr, a hand crank Spellbinders, and the other electric one by sizzix. We have an almost weekly craft day for 3 to 4 hours. The gemini jr rarely gets used. This week I am finishing up 55 mothers day cards with 15 die cuts. A pinwheel flower with 9 petals, 3 intricate leaves, 2 dies on the bottom, and the card bases are a partial die cut flower. I buy my cutting plates at a craft store with a 50 or 60 percent off coupon. I'm in the USA. I bought the precision base plate with a coupon as well. The savings on the plates is huge! Because there is a platform to rest the plates on, I rarely have to tape my dies down. The vagabond is also faster. It sounds silly, but when you are doing 70 cuts, it matters. This is ONLY personal preference, but when my big shot broke, I was searching videos for different reviews. The gemini jr wasn't out yet, but the full size Gemini was "trending ". I didn't find many videos on the vagabond. It doesn't seem trendy, and I think its well worth looking at. Justine, we all have personal preferences, and yours is TOTALLY valid! My comment isn't meant to be an attack. You are a WONDERFUL AND CREATIVE woman who shares her talents. Thank you for doing that!
Very good video Justine! I also invested in the Scor-buddy and the teflon bone folder when I really got serious about cardmaking. It really improved the quality of my cards :)
I have most of the products you recommend. I also am a Gemini fan simply because I have arthritis and cranking on the big shot was getting too hard. Especially like you said for intricate die cuts. I’m not able to craft as much as I want to. But I love watching yours and other crafters videos. Thank you for all the time you put into them. You are one of my favorites.
What a great video! I thoroughly enjoyed it. You are very good at making your videos; you have a very nice voice and enunciate very well. I, too, love the tools you selected. I will be buying the new version of Misti 2.0. It's made much better. This will be my first stamping positioner. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it!
Thank you for all of the excellent product reviews! I am relatively new to pastes etc. but following the hop is really helping me to do more with cards and mixed media. Prayerful hugs from Canada. tfs
Super helpful video, ty. I've used many repositionable adhesive sprays & found them gunky--sounds like Pixie Spray might be the answer to our needs. In agreement w you on all, still shopping blending brushes.
I love the blending brushes, also my embossing buddy, however I have a Misti but find I use my Tim Holtz more because of the six and cost and I really like the press one by We R Memory Keepers because when Im layering I can put different layers on different presses and go with it the press plates are only around $9.00 each so for multiples it is a game changer for me. found Misti too expensive to buy large one plus they don't play nice with others so that is why I opted to try other brands. Oh question besides the cost what is the difference between the purple tape and blue painters tape?
I’m not an expert by any stretch. But I started with blue painters tape. It works most of the time, but some of the times it does stick to my paper. Especially if I use it to run through my Gemini. I also have a Misti, which I mostly use. But I love the stampin up one, like you mentioned with the memory keepers one. It has plates that you can interchange. You can also use both sides of them, and it is great for layering and doing multiple cards.
Hello Justine. I love your videos and have learned so much despite years of card making. I have purchased fresh embossing powder and a new inkadoo embossing bag. Using black card stock, I cannot fully eliminate the white cast of powder remaining on the card stock after heating the embossing powder and brushing the card stock as much as I dare. Any hints? Thank you so very much Justine!
Good info. I have half of those items, no craft mat no brushes, although I think I’m gonna get those cuz I wanna be like everybody else!!!..but my favorite glue in the world is Art glitter glue. Sorry. And I hear you loud and clear about the muscles for die cutting. I die cut a Lot! It’s like work sometimes! I’ve heard great things about that Gemini Jr! Thanks for including that little “gem”. Off to amazon....again$
GREAT little video, Justine! I, too, LOVE the supplies that you’d shared, tho’ there are a few I haven’t used as yet~~but knowing you craft so much more than myself n’ share in your videos, I TOTALLY TRUST your ideas! Thank you so much for sharing n’ HAPPY CRAFTIN’! :-)
You can teach an old dog new tricks. I almost didn't watch this video as I have my own top ten but watched it to the end only to find out that, although I have had the Tim Holtz sprayer for quite a while I did not realize it had the locking feature. LOL and Thanks
Great tips Justine! I agree with every one of your favorites except I haven’t splurged for the glass mat yet. I remember when about a year after the MISTI came out and I received a nice monetary gift the first thing I bought was my MISTI and I’ve been super happy with it since! I have the larger Gemini and love it for my very large Spellbinders dies from Becca Feeken. However, I do want to point out that they are electric, not electronic. Electronic machines are the ones like the Cricut or Silhouette, etc. I’ve been enjoying your collaborations and hope you can do more in the future. Keep up the great work Justine. You are very talented and super sweet and I want you to know that I do appreciate all you do!! 💖
Thank you for sharing! Great info, as always. I agree with most of yours. I still have my beloved Platinum and Sidekick....love them both and have no problems. I have used the Pixie spray and love it so far. Holds the stencils well without being difficult to remove. I don’t remove the sticky, just save it til it’s not sticky and then clean & respray. 👍🏻👍🏻
Have & love all these things, except for Tim's craft surface. I need clear with white behind it, rather than black, or I wind up getting ink or whatnot on my project (not being able to see if the surface is clean), so I got the CutterPillar glass Laurel recommended. A less-messy crafter may not have this issue. :o)
Thanks for the video. I would like to make one comment though. The makeup brushes from Picket Fence are NOT "better quality" than the ones from Amazon. They just want you to think that so that they can overcharge you and make you think that you've got a real "deal". As a crafter, I am tired of being taken advantage of by companies that try to make us think that a less expensive alternative is not "quality". I have tried BOTH brushes and they are EXACTLY the same. So save your money and buy from Amazon. Mine cost about $10!! Have a great day!!
Thanks for your opinion. I’m just going by some comparison videos I’ve watched from fellow Crafters. As I said in my video, I’ve never used the ones from amazon but I’m sure they are fine.
Have to agree about the makeup brushes being the same from Picket Fences vs Amazon. Have both kinds and cannot tell the difference. Justine... thank you for all of your videos. You are a superb teacher!
MISTI is the best "investment" I've made in my craft room. Yes, it does sure make up for all the messed up stamping and ruined cardstock I've had in the past (I'm clumsy with acrylic blocks too.). Love my Tim Holtz Glass Matt. I need to expand my horizons and use it for watercoloring. I have a few store bought blender tool and my mom and dad made me some more thanks to a dowel and some wooden handles and velcro.
Thanks for the video~I always enjoy your videos. I hear people say they like the Brutus Monroe ep's. but not specifically why? I love embossing and would try their products but I am hesitant to buy if it's not any different from ep (Ranger, wow) I use now.
Diana Trout I’ve been successfully using Ranger for years and Gina K for a couple years. Hero Arts have also worked well for me. I purchased 2 or 3 of the Brutus Monroe ep and I can’t get it to stick to the embossing ink. I was very disappointed in it. I’m not sure if it’s defective or it’s just me. Not a fan.
Thanks for sharing your favorites Justine. Is that Wagner heat gun that new one that came out with the 2 temperature settings? Thanks again 👏🤩😉 God bless ❤ XOXO
I’m starting a card making business. Can anyone tell me where can I get the envelopes for the cards? Where can I get the best deal? I’ve seen a lot of videos talking about tools to make cards but nobody mentioned about the envelopes. Thanks in advance for the tip!
This was great! I have pretty much everything you shared and I did purchase the makeup type brushes from Amazon which work well. My one tool giving me grief is the Tim Holtz stamp platform. Even though the lid reverses for rubber or clear stamps, many clear ones still won’t stamp properly. The mini Misti is going on my wish list. Also enjoy my Gemini and put away my Big Shot to encourage its use. Loved Laura’s video as well and subscribed to her channel.
I won’t be making a video about that since I already own a heat tool that I’m super happy with. I don’t see a reason to own two heat tools. So unless someone sends it to me for some reason, I am happy with less things in my craftroom. After doing my konmari clean up, I’ve never been more happy to have less craft supplies
I agree, the MISTI is an essential investment as I have a stamp that always requires doing over. I disagree that the embossing bag prevents wayward powder. I put a lot down but still have strays.
Hi Justine. I’ll send you an email. I’m disappointed you didn’t add one of my tools to your list. Just like the Misti, card makers use my tool everytime they stamp and it will last them the rest of their crafting days because of the quality. We can discuss offline.
@@justinehovey So it's all a bad technical dream. Didn't stop me from watching several of your videos anyway -- with CC until I get new batteries for the Blue Tooth speaker. You do a great job, girl.
