I can't stand Oprah Winfrey. When she first had James Frey on her show, she had all these testimonials from people who felt that his book really spoke to their own experiences. But when she found out he'd embellished parts of it, suddenly all those testimonials no longer mattered, and the only thing that did, was Oprah's bruised ego. So she gets him back on the show just to publicly shame him and his work. James Frey may be dishonest, but Oprah's reaction was far worse.
I could not agree more. Oprah Winfrey is such an entitled phony, who shrieks about discrimination when she and her entourage are not allowed to insist that a high end retailer manage its own business and refuse after-hours private window shopping excursions. Oprah pilloried Frey in an effort to salvage her own credibility for fawning over and endorsing "A Million Little Pieces."
***** if you are referring to rolf he was very popular in australia and britain before his fall from grace. which made the whole thing quite a pickle for the royal family because he was allowed to paint the queen and he groped a woman in front of her own husband during a charity event for military veterans in the buckingham palace garden. what made it worse was that while he was painting the queen one of his victims sent a letter containing a full account of what he did to the queen's security detail and nothing was done at the time.
In todays world run by zionists, thought crimes are the worst offence. In Sweden newspapers expose people who written negative about immigration but protects pedophiles.
bigboss9150 no i get the point i just wanted to mention that all the people from the list have no more career at least i dont know what the hell they are doing now some of them i dont even know the only work i know from all the people from the list is tom cruise.
VICMEL EPRES I'd say Mel Gibson still has a career. Granted the last movie I saw him in was "Edge of Darkness", but that was pretty good. Tom Cruise I'm less familiar with, the only two Cruise movies I've seen since "MI:2" was "Minority Report" and his small role in "Tropic Thunder"
Oh I'm sorry Tom. You don't think depression is a real thing? Pull your head out of your scientology ass. Don't tell me I don't suffer something quite real till you have lived my life, walked in my shoes and then kissed my ass and apologized to everyone for your ignorance.
Kanye west never fell he's still at his best and rising making more money these are people who seriously fucked up Kanye can be dîck but didn't do anything seriously bad
Miley and Kanye have never been arrested or gone to rehab. They're still very successful and making a shit ton of money. Y'all are just gonna have to accept the fact that twerking isn't going to ruin someone's career. As for Kanye, the worst thing he's done is interrupt Taylor Swift and act like an arrogant asshole, but the music industry is rife with people like that, it's nothing new. Unless he does something terrible like Chris Brown, he's not going to be blacklisted any time.
He'll never learn his lesson. Only when he's old and wrinkled will naive little girls stay away from him. This will go on for along time yet as no-one is paying attention or cares. (2019)
Why?? It's all bullshit. Bill Cosby was the third most trusted celebrity and is seen as an inspirational person. i personally don't think the rape stories are the truth. Probably ex girlfriends or just some random girls who come out of nowhere lying to make Cosby look bad or for cash. It's pathetic what people would do for money now a days BILL COSBY IS NOT A RAPIST. HE'S INNOCENT.
***** I don't know how you can decide that he's innocent. I haven't decided whether I think he's guilty or innocent, but his reputation has definitely been badly damaged, and I think this counts as a "fall from grace".
***** Actually, the accusations have been around for more than a decade, from multiple people. Only now they're really being heard. Not because you saw him on tv, you actually know cosby himself.
treehuggerkyle Ok I agree. But Cosby was rated the third most trusted actor. And he's seen as an inspiration to thousands. Why would he be a rapist? I'm not convinced he's innocent but I doubt he would do that. And yes that does count from a fall from grace.
***** People rape because they can get away with it. These women all had the same story - they went to Cosby because he said he would help them get into the business. Then he raped them. And because he's "the third most trusted actor", and the father of america, and the pudding man, and just an overall nice guy, no one believed any of these women when they came forward with the same story of being drugged and raped. I believe them, because they have nothing to gain and so much to lose by coming forward with rape allegations against such a famous and loved individual. Most people would rather believe these women are liars ans fakes and frauds rather then believe that Cosby could do something as despicable as that.
How the hell is tom cruise here? He still makes awesome movies. And earns a ton of cash whit them so he hasent fall from grace. He was only founded a bit wierd by the public thats it
I thought for sure that Charlie Sheen would have made the list. He was the first one I thought of when I saw the title. Next came Mel Gibson and Michael Jackson. Not that their offenses would be ranked in that order, though.
Except that they all stayed relatively popular all throughout, I think. Everyone on this list took massive hits to both popularity and finances because of their screw-ups.
No matter how much hollywierd (hmmm, wonder why..) tries to make everyone hate Mel Gibson; nah, ain't happening. Great actor, even better director. Nah, ain't happening. They've been on a crusade to try and destroy him, nah, ain't happening. He's just funny when they try to get him riled up too! Nice try, but nah. "Freedom"!!
knife that is your opinion and not any facts. mel gibson has not made close to what tom has. the only actor to make over a billion is Jerry sienfield. NOT MEL GIBSON YOU IDIOT. Tom has had more hits and has made way more then mel, you are an idiot.
Yeah. Even though everyone acknowledges that he's kinda weird and sometimes cringeworthy, he's still Hollywood royalty and makes millions and millions every year
Paula Deen number 1 seriously? Chris Brown who beat the crap out of someone and is constantly in some sort of trouble gets a mention? What? How about O.J. Simpson? How about Charlie Sheen? Paula Deen did nothing or said nothing that the rest of the world hasn't done. Including all the people that try to persecute her.
Yall need to read. It's not the action, the fall from grace because of the action and has chris brown really had as big a fall from grace as the others. He beat rihanna and lost nothing because of it.
It has nothing to do with what people think. Paula dean lost everything from her actions. Where as he.... hasn't. He's still selling albums, selling tours and winning Grammys. He lost nothing because of his actions, so the list is right.
I don't understand how Chris Brown still has fans. Over the weekend he was at the Grammys when the president was in that video talking about domestic violence. Every camera and person should have been staring at him, during that.
I grew up in the south. Up until the 3rd year in school blacks couldn't go to the same school as whites. I was 20 yo before they could come into the pool room in town. They were considered less than white people . Your actually going to try to act like the south isn't racist . Are you familiar with the term, denial ?
Knightikhan She went from being a child star to an amazingly good singer with some disturbing music videos and shows which makes her recognizable for the public . She is still on top, and therefore way off this list, she might be one of the smartest people within showbiz
HarryDoesEverything And Wesley Snipes? Really?? I love the guy and hope he does come back but so far he has just been in The Expendables 3 ( all his other films so far have been direct to video movies ) which seems to be inviting any action star that was popular in the past. Doesn't mean he back just yet but lets hope its a start. And don't forget I'm responding to your opinion that his career is fully repaired like Mel GIbson ( Which I don't think is fully repaired either lol )
Mel's career is a complete shell of what it used to be. He used to be one of hollywoods biggest action stars, now Expendables 3 is the only time one of his movies has been in wide release theatres for like 5 or 6 years.
Sometimes, I do feel bad for celebrities. Yes, most of these people in this list were a bunch of douchebags, but just how the media treats them is so sad. There are many magazines that post false articles for the sake of getting readers (I remember seeing one that said Ellen Degeneres was divorcing her wife. What?!?!), and paparazzi mercilessly following them, flashing a billion cameras at once and asking questions that range from "appropriate" to "downright cruel." And to top it all off, one slip-up instantly makes them a joke. They can do a thousand good things in their lives, but as soon as one juicy slip up occurs, they become the laughing stock of the world....
@Scorched Earth Being bratty isn't in the same ballpark as being a sexual predator. I don't care much for beeber but he shouldn't be on the same list with the old creepers.
Andrew Ryan Two people actually, and nearly murderer more in his assault to a sport business, but he was caught and put in jail were he belong, is a shame that not for the time that he deserves.
Even more interesting is often stand up comedians make those homophobic or racial slurs and no one seems to have a problem with it. But if someone who isn't a comedian does it, then it becomes offensive. Its like a the "N" word. A white says it to a black man and its racist. If a black man says it to a black man, its not racist.
TheCoper COper if someone insults a loved one... especially if they do not know anything about said loved one.... means less than nothing to me. how can you insult someone you know nothing about? lmao... its as bad as "your momma" jokes. over sensitivity will be the fall of this world.
If you're stupid enough to say something like that in the public eye, then you deserve what you get. Everyone will just laugh at you. You don't see others doing that, do you? I defend free speech, but I will NOT defend ignorance. I'm not sorry.
Tom Cruise came to a premier in Ireland. He stood in the rain for over an hour on a filthy wet night signing autographs for people outside the venue. That guy is a legend and the Irish don't forget people like that.
I was wondering the same thing. Sheen's meltdown destroyed his career. He does have somewhat of a career still, but it's a far cry from what it once was.
OJ and Woody Allen (though lots of people didn't seem to mind too much about Soon Yi...people are fucked in the head) are no longer relevant today, MJ has been dead for 5 years but he was still making money after the second lawsuit not to mention all of the royalties his family gets from everything else that had his name/likeness attached to it
***** Maybe he was a ''joke'' to jewish c*nts who run Hollyweird but he was never a joke to his fans who never abandoned him, no matter what. MJ had, has and will always have the largest fanbase in the world ever. He has fans of every age, gender, religion, nationality, background etc. He brought the races together and he was/is the most famous, most popular, most wellknown and most loved artist in the world. An immortal icon, the greatest and most succesful entertanier of all time! I could go on all day, but i will drop it here. Peace out

+Luiz T. Peluso I would've loved to see Madonna in first place. She's been the biggest brat throughout most of her career. And where was Courtney Love? But oh no, lying to Oprah is like totally more wrong. *Rolling eyes*
With all due respect to Michael Jackson, I`m wondering why he isn`t on this list. A celecerty of his acused several times of child molestation - which ruined his career - should be on this list - perhaps even #1
I think its petty to chastise Michael for his racist remarks, not only because your country is supposedly free speech, but also because the audience member(s) did call him a white boy first, bringing race into the argument to be provocative. They could be equally racist as him, where is their "fall from grace."
While I agree with you in principle, during stand-up people do heckle. I personally haven't done stand-up, but I know this is true, he should have kept jis 'cool', but he didn't. While I think it's the hecklers fault, he shouldn't have said that in public, even if it's true.
Ryan Pedro black people use the word boy to call someone weak or small. white boy would mean weak white person. so if they wanna be fair about it, we are European Americans.
Free speech in the Us means that the government can't arrest you for doing something like he did, which is not the case in several European countries. The people can still judge you based on your words.
Well, I never knew who Isaiah Washington was, but that's probably because I never watched "Grey's Anatomy". I'm not the kind of person who watches people spew their emotional issues on each other because... ...Have any of you observed reality long enough to guess what I'll say next? It's because reality has too many wusses bitching about their problems! Why then would I want to watch it on films or television!? Moving on, I was surprised that Wesley Snipes or Nicolas Cage didn't make #1, but I guess they're saving them for the "Top 10 Financially Reckless Celebrities" list. Also that Watch Mojo included some children's entertainment star from Australia who no one has heard of, but neglected to show the second man/pedophile who donned the Barney outfit.
horrorjunkie92 There may be international coverage of NFL games, but thats like saying there is coverage of soccer matches in the US and you know soccer is not a very popular sport in the US.As far as OJ's acting career, thats a joke lol
I think most cases are due to overwork and constant harassment from the world. Its what Blade is saying "I'm not that important, I just make movies". That goes for each and everyone of them. And it's weird that the news take their stories as main stories, while enough real important stuff is going on around the world.. We may think these days it's small, but that's because we cover only a small part of it in the news. It's still very, very big.
Snipes committed tax evasion, not a minor crime, and try to escape from his consequences of his actions, try to find refuge in another country, never the less, he chose the wrong country, and he was immediately taken back to the U. S. were he had a 10 years sentence. Even that he is a very good actor, he is exaggerating his crime, he isn't like OJ Simpson that committed murder and could get away from it.
***** There is a similar list about Celebrity comebacks..RDJ and Mickey Rourke were high in it ..And Charlie Sheen always had his headcase reputation from his early days even though it erupted more later on.
Rose B I agree that Sheen got even more popular with the "man's man" "bro" crowd. But as far as his once lucrative TV and movie deals, he is still going down hill. But he has that Sheen "tiger blood" charisma, maybe he'll make a comeback like Robert Downey Jr did.
Thought #britneyspears would be on the list but I think it'd be more fitting for her to be on the "Top 10 Celebrity Comebacks". And she'd probably be #1. :)
Obviously. Healthy, happy and making lots of money doing her extended Vegas residency shows due to their success, and she just finished promoting her new lingerie line in Europe. #yourfavecouldneva #hairflip
Isaiah Washington is not famous or bankable enough to be on the list... haven't seen him before Grey's Anatomy... Wesley Snipes would be a better choice. And Mel Gibson should be no.1, since he is quite internationally known, Paula Deen isn't.
He's been in quite a few movies too, of coarse When you have Cruise, Snipes, and Gibson on the list who else belongs there in terms of HW? Was curious if Keanu did anything to fall out of the limelight too but not even a mention.
Steven Ramos As far as I know Keanu hasn't don't anything scandalous... he just hasn't had much successful movies lately. That does not count as a fall from grace, just not particularly note-worthy.
Steven Ramos Not really... actors don't constantly get good offers one after another, a lot fade away and don't recover but they didn't do anything bad.
Rolf Harris should be #1. Unlike the other things on the list there is no getting away from child abuse. Even if a star is found innocent the damage such a claim can do is permanent. Also Harris was a national treasure and part of many people's childhood memories.
Agreed. As a kid, I had a tape of his songs. I dearly loved that tape. After his conviction, I mailed it back to him. I doubt he'll ever get it, but the act was cathartic. He's a monster. The others don't compare. Rolf and Jimmy Saville should have taken 1st spot here.
+Doubting Thomas Don't you think there's a bit of a dichotomy between such a serious crime and a top ten list? It's like having the top ten rapists and us all arguing over who should be number one like some jovial pop quiz and then being outraged when our personal favourite is absent from the list. It trivializes it somewhat.
In case you were wondering how the Mojoholics voted in our poll, see the votes and entries here: watchmojo.com/suggest/Top+10+Falls+From+Grace Note, of course, that viewer votes are just one of the hundreds of data points and variables that we consider and look at when we create our lists. It's kind of funny... Lindsay Lohan's character in Mean Girls starts out as an innocent girl next door, whose life spirals out of control to the point where everyone hates her. Life really does imitate art.
mikepuppetz9 And yet Rachael McAdams was the Mean Girl in Mean Girls and yet she's the good girl in life how much the opposite is for these two for life versus movies
No Michael Jackson? Wow... I was sure he would be in the top 3, considering the pedophilia charges, holding a baby over the balcony and countless other weird stuff. For that matter, where is Charlie Sheen? Sure he still makes that shitty sit-com, but c'mon, if anyone of todays' celebs have had a fall from grace, it's him. And where's OJ? Racist remarks earns you a fall from grace mark, but killing your wife don't? o.O Also, can't say I agree with Michael Richards being on the list. Sure he mad some racist comments, but didn't he do it to a few specific people who whined and complained through the whole stand-up act? Of course he lost it. That's what they were trying to do from the start. Racist remarks still aren't good, but it was blown out of proportions. A lot.
Fyer I would say because it went from someone just being self destructive to finding out she's seriously ill with possible schizophrenia. That's not really her fault.
You're saying "Kramer's" level of disgrace is equal to all the rest of these assholes? You clearly saw yet another black person give a white man a hard time when all the "hell" he was trying to do was to entertain them and him. What the fucking fuck? There have probably been plenty of comedians that have flown off the handle but they haven't been recorded, probably because A. It was back in the 20th century and B. People still had a shred of decency in the early 2000s. What the fuck do you want? Whenever a comedian returns fire, it's still just the same as flying off the handle yet just milder. Shit.
Tom Cruise doesn't deserve most of the hate he receives. I don't agree with scientology at all, but he hasn't done anything to anybody, done anything illegal, or said hateful things about large groups of people, like the rest of the celebrities on this list have.
Hey there are some other nice clips right here for you to view, so why not? Top 10 Craziest Events Caught on Live TV Top 10 Crazy Moments in Sports Top 10 Defining Moments of 1990s America Top 10 Defining Moments of 2000s America
Fatty Arbuckle, Pee Wee Herman, O.J. Simpson? Is everyone who compiles the lists at WatchMojo under the age of 30? I wouldn't even consider Justin Bieber to be a fall from grace. He was a teen idol whose fame ran its natural course like 99% of other teen idols before him.
MrGoatflakes 100% agree! Here's a convicted criminal whose claim to fame is to tell people they don't know how to live their lives, yet she seems as popular and respected as ever.
I know its years later... its so wild that Matt is interviewing, fall from grace, Paula Dean. Now you can put Matt on the list with Harvey Weinstein, Roseanne and prob, number one would be Kevin Spacey. Oh and lets not forget Megyn Kelly or however you spell her name.
Some people are born with the idea that men should always marry women and not the way we see today. when a person is "Homophobic", that could be a normal thing. You can't force beliefs on people and make them all gay-friendly (not saying to harm a gay person, but simply disagree). Not all the world of diverse cultures approve this gay movement that is rising today. A person who is Islamphobic could be mostly tolerated than Anti-Semitic. There's something going on.
Sorry to interrupt your bullshit, but you are living in the wrong decade, maybe you need to buy a time machine and go back to beginning of the century, the 50' or the 80', were this kind of behavior would consider less full of prejudice and intolerance, you would feel very at home in the beginning of the last century.
TheKeyser94 son, i'll give you two examples. first: x does not likes radish, y loves them, x accepts and respects that y loves them, y does not force x into liking radish, everyone happy second: x hates radish, y loves them, then Y forces x into linking radish all the time. you are the second example. have a good day.
you cant force beliefs on people and make them all Christian either but it still has not stopped Christians from trying. At least gay people don't try to get people to be gay by using fear and intimidation against them.
Nobody is born with predetermine ideas. Beliving that a gender, a "race", a nationality, sexual orientation o a religion makes someone bether or worse than someone else, or that is right or wrong are false staments. Of course your are free to believe whatever you want inside your head, but when you express those ideas they affect other people. People who have right, human right. So you have to pay the price for that. It´s okey if you wanna be a racist, or a sexist, or a xenophobe or and homophobe... People are free to choose to be idiots, but keep it to yourself, or we´ll get you hahaha
Thought Michael Jackson was going to be #1 - whether he did what he was accused of or not, the allegations against him nevertheless severely damaged his image and popularity
People you Missed: -Jimmy Saville (Raped thousands of Children and Has been implicated in Murder hes bascily Robert Black if the was smarter) -O.J. Simpson -Oscar Pasoritous (Should have been Number 1!!!!!!!!!!) -Woody Allen (I would say Roman Polanski aswell but in my books hes a sponge no matter how bad hes done he always manages to get back on track hes like the villain from the second Lethal Wepon Movie) -Garry Glitter (Do you wanna be in my gang my gang, Do you wanna be in my gang my gang,Do you wanna be in my gang my gang,Do you wanna be in my gang my gang,Do you wanna be in my gang my gang,Do you wanna be in my gang my gang, NO!!! >:X -Charlie Sheen -Jeffry Jones -Rhianna -Charles Manson -Russel Brand -Rupert Everette
I've watched several watchmojo lists & must conclude that they're ALL EXTREMELY biased, skewed & totally unfair! What's even worse is that irritating female narrator who arbitrarily imposes her own opinion on the viewer. Who cares what u think!! U have no idea what the public really thinks or feels.
if there was a list for "celebrities that became irrelevant after the 90s" then yeah i could definitely see him on here. although he does deserve at least a dishonorable mention
People whining here about how some of these celebs have right to free speech... Really need to understand the concept of "celebrity" FANS make a person famous. When you are famous you have a responsibility towards those fans. I am sure Mel Gibson had a lot of Jewish fans, Kramer had a lot of black fans and Isiah had gay fans. When you go and disappoint that faction of fans, studios don't wanna give you any work because you have stopped being relevant.
That's not fair because he made a massively successful comeback plus threw any thought of him being homophobic out of the window when he performed with Elton John on stage.
this list is a load of crap. This narrator acts like she hasn't said anything bad before in her life. there's worse things in life than being called a homophobic..... my goodness gracious, people are just too politically correct these days!!
+B McSue Just because he's an ardent Catholic who came from a family with too many kids, doesn't excuse his bigotry. I'd never watch one of his movies, although he did some good work in the early 1980s.
Tom cruise is not crazy.,he's just wacky. Hyper,,and passionate about things that matter to him.,Im a fan of his.,cruise is actually one of the more normal people in Hollyweird
