@Alan ALI 12 should have won 1982 too if it was for today's points systeme. He also came very close in 1990. I don't understand how some people don't even consider him when talking about the best driver of all time
@@timmynicolas8729 Didn't he actually outscore Senna in 88 which is why they changed the point scoring system in the first place? He really could have been a 7x World champion
Yeah, because the media is rewarded if they glorify and overhype LH, while at the same time bashing MSC, Vettel and Alonso. Always the same recognizable pattern.
Yeah, especially because it was before Netflix. Netflix is ruining F1 from a enjoyment stand point, because it has brought so mas toxicity to F1. Imagine how much more fun it would be without it. Just the drivers and teams against one another, without extra drama.
And in 1984 he lost the championship because he called for the race in Monaco to be stopped. Had he received full points for that race he would have won the title
@Alan ALI 12 Senna has front right suspension damages after clattering the curb in the harbour chicane, Senna will pass Prost and Bellof would've taken the lead cause he was faster than both. but Senna will eventually retired courtesy of his suspension damages and Bellof was DSQ (Tyrrell actually DSQ for entire '84 season for underweight) and Prost will still get the win at the end of the day.
I mean raikkonnen almost winning the championship against prime Schumacher in his third year in F1 has to be one of the most underrated things about our sport
@@Waykieboy25 They convinced the FIA to change the rules on tyre measurement towards the end of the season because they couldn't fight McLaren and Williams anymore.
Lauda's 1984 Portuguese GP was unbelievable, SO different from his "typical" races: always in attack mode. Prost payed the early finish in Monaco and the Austrian took a deserved world title.
Luckily they where not, because it was fine the way it was. And honestly, except that it has gotten F1 more money, Netflix is by far the worst thing that has ever happened to F1. It has become so toxic since then.
Hunt vs Lauda 76. On Beyond the Grid, the Ferrari sporting director stated, that both Lauda and Hunt agreed with Bernie, that they will retire at the end of the first lap, however Hunt was blackmailed by his team not to. And also the rainstorm eased. Because that time there were no radios Hunt knew nothing until the checkered flag of his position.
1986 still the most epic one. Prost vs. Mansell vs. Piquet vs. Senna, challenging one each other on the 1,000+ horsepower, totally unassisted turbo monster of those years might be something we'll never see again.
Fun fact - Prost could've been an 8-time World Champion but missed it by a combined total points of 12.5! He was an absolute beast but nobody talks much about him! 1983 - 2 points 1984 - 0.5 points 1988 - 3 points 1990 - 7 points
This. Also if dropped results were not a thing, he'd had at least 5. He's legitimately a 5 time champion if we count all races. He's truly one of the greatest if not the greatest but is hardly mentioned by drivers. It's such a shame honestly
Probably the most underrated f1 world champion and he is one of the best f1 drivers of all time (in my opinion at least) Edit: sorry for the late reply
@@mizisawesome8442 I try to stay out of any Hamilton/Verstappen comments or replies section for my own sanity, but do you realise the laughable amount of irony in that comment
@@milan_langer im 13 and recently started watching the sport on 2016. I love F1 so much but the problem is that i never got access to the Rush movie. Its not even on Netflix, so i think its unfair that u say whoever hasnt watched Rush isnt a real F1 fan.
Yes, this is a biased opinion: Kimi's 3 way fight against Alonso and Hamilton was the most dramatic season ever. Yes, 2008 Brazil was dramatic in itself, but only this one race. 2007 had drama for the pretty much the whole season (Hungary, China, Brazil as a few examples) and the comeback Kimi mounted, the odds he had overcome within the last 3 races was just brilliant to watch. I was 8 years old, missing most GPs that weren't in Europe since TV time was restricted, but OH BOI, that last race with that result: Absolutely insane feeling.
haha kimi just like vettel after winning title 1 fizzled out only difference vettel fizzled out after being 4x champion had kimi took 2003 and 2005 he could be 3x champion hahahaha
And Prost being 7 or 8 away from being a 7 time world champion. Even more so, had all points counted in 1988, he wouldn't even have needed more points, he already the most But we all know: if if if doesn't exist
Yeah that's true but at the same time he could have 0 championships if Kimi didn't have bad luck in 2005 and if Schumacher didn't retire in japan 2006 from the lead
Kimi Räikkönen really earned the 2007 world championship. Kimi had been close to the title as early as 2003 and 2005. Only misfortune and the reliability of the car had bothered him. In the 2007 season, the title finally came. And in his first Ferrari season. Kimi took six GP wins in the 2007 season, with Hamilton and Alonso each taking four wins. Kimi also took the most points, although he was suspended twice during the season for a technical failure at Barcelona and the Nurburgring. In both of these, Kimi would have been on the podium. Hamilton and Alonso had no interruptions due to technical failures at all.
I love hearing how great rivals can actually be true friends off the track...this falls beyond all racing series while being fierce competitors they can put the odds aside and respect each other.
For some reason, I still get goosebumps when I hear: "Okay, it's all over, It's all over, Hamilton 7th, Hamilton 7th, by my calculation we win the championship by one point."
Guy crashtappen isn’t a thing anymore…he has really improved himself over the past years and if he was still crashing he would be lower in the standing and Lewis would run away with the title again
Honestly, a Rush 2 movie ending in the 1984 title decider would’ve been absolutely awesome to see. Sadly with Lauda's passing, I doubt it could be done.
Yeah that's true but at the same time he could have 0 championships if Kimi didn't have bad luck in 2005 and if Schumacher didn't retire in japan 2006 from the lead
Well well it looks like this list has to be upgraded now. The championship went with even points to the last race to the last lap. I don't think that ever happened before. Satan wrote the screenplay for this season
@@aesir1ases64 his opponent is an idiot...... Max can avoid the crash... If he really fighting for a championship not a karting championship. Lewis is not backing down from him anymore and he learnt that the hard way
Here are the usual corrections to F1's RU-vid team rewriting history: 1. Hill never really had the capacity to "fight back" in 1994, even in the second half of the season. The only time he beat Schumacher fair and square was at Suzuka and while it was a really impressive victory considering Schumacher's prowess in the rain, it was the only time. He got pole position at Magny-Cours and Silverstone, but in those races he was still outclassed by Schumacher. At Silverstone Schumacher was easily following him at the start even though the Benetton had much more fuel onboard, and after the first pitstop he was building a gap. Hill would have lost again if not for Schumacher's penalty for his antics on the formation laps. Hill won at Spa only because Schumacher was disqualified for a technicality, and at Monza and Estoril because Schumacher was banned. At Estoril he even lost pole to Berger and Coulthard was faster than him in the race. When Schumacher came back he promptly beat Hill again, and at Adelaide Hill was even beaten in qualifying by Schumacher *and Mansell*! To make matters worse, Hill then lost the championship again the next year even though he now had the best car, and Coulthard was often faster than him. 2. Massa's victory at Singapore in 2008 wasn't "stolen from him." That's a myth that his fans and himself liked to repeat. Ferrari were using an automated electronic system for the green light signalling the driver it was OK to leave the box, and it misbehaved. Massa's pitstop problem wasn't caused by the fact a safety car came out, and nothing says the problem wouldn't have happened anyway during his normal scheduled stop. (also he stole Hamilton's victory at Spa after not having been able to fight either him nor Raikkonen, so he was only in contention for the championship due to that)
If you cheat you get disqualified. Benetton had an awesome racecar. Hill beat Coulthard in 1994 almost as much as Schumacher beat Max's Dad-even though DC is a much better race driver than Verstappen Sr. The Benetton still had some basic traction control but not a full on cheating computerized suspension. The Williams was a far trickier car and Hill exercised caution for obvious reasons. No one talks about Hill being a GOAT so saying Schumacher is better is stating the obvious. Mansell outqualified all of them at 42. Hill is a brilliant racer hampered by a late start...much like Berger. Schumacher did Karting and Maximized his talent as did DC. DC was very quick and beat Hakkinen twice.
@@adampetten5349 I'm not saying Hill was awful in 1994, just that he only found himself one championship point behind at the last race through pure luck (except for Suzuka) and Schumacher/Benetton's mistakes.
@@Olivyay Benetton made far fewer mistakes than Williams...especially in 1995. Schumacher had been leader of that team for years. Patrese and Verstappen showed they only cared about pleasing Michael 93-94 at Benetton...Much like Senna at Lotus 1986-1987 with very weak teammates. It took battling Prost strongly to give Ayrton the confidence to even allow a driver as strong as Berger on his team. Warwick was too intimidating for Senna back in his Lotus days lol. Hill was way ahead of 3rd place Berger in 1994, and Schumacher got a great head start with a much more manageable car.
1981 is such a cluster. Started off by Bernie reassuring Carlos that Kyalami would count for points, but because of FISA v FOCA, that lasted for a week. Then in Brazil, Williams was like "Carlos it's James" but he pulled an UNO reverse card, which made the team... awkward to say the least. And a small detail that's NEVER mentioned, minutes after putting his Williams on pole in Las Vegas, he bumped with Nelson and his car had to be stripped down and straightened.
Had a hard week and this was just what I needed after this day to make it a bit better . Formula video + listening to the music I like (Delta Parole, Metallica and other) make me feel the speed and excitement!
