I'm from Czech Republic. With my little sister, we often screamed and ran when Rataphak Plachta appeared on the screen. His name is not translated as Nosey Blanket. Rather it could be translated as Bitey Blanket.

Hey strider! I have some information about Ratafak Plachta and Slniecko explained by BlameitonJorge: . Slniecko was one of the main instegators of the Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. Unfortunately, Ratafak did not single- handedly defeat communism at that time, which forced the show to end in 1989 after its 10- year run. . Ratafak was a deliberate parody of the elderly and politics (he got involved in the 2009 presidential election in Slovakia, funnily enough.) . After Slniecko ended, the puppets used in the show were thrown away, but someone managed to get hold of Ratafak, which is where that infamous video clip comes from. . That same video clip is not actually from Slniecko. The audio is from Czech TV presenter Mariana Durianova singing a Slovakian rendition of "When you got it, flaunt it" from "The producers," and Ratafak is wearing white gloves instead of his trademark red gloves which he used in the show. It is also perfectly clear that someone else is puppeteering Ratafak, because in the show, he was being controlled by 2 people, which would be able to fully support the length of his neck. In the video, someone else is clearly puppeteering Ratafak because his neck is not fully supported by the one puppeteer's body, which makes it look shrivelled, and the puppeteering is not as spot on as it was in the show. . Ratafak has become an icon in Slovakia, and the kids on the show loved to see him move and act silly. Don't hold it against him. . Slniecko would always air on sundays, to convince children to keep in front of the TV and not go to Church. An obvious sign of Communism at the time. . Ratafak would always try to mislead the audience, but in a more innocent light. This trait in the show taught kids to question things more often. Again, communism. (Jorge, if you're seeing this, i'm sorry.)

Since The Banana Splits has been made into a horror movie, I wouldn't be surprised if these characters got the horror movie treatment.

You wanna know what's also fucked up about Mr. Blobby? In a February 1994 issue of The Sun, it was reported that a little girl was crying because Mr. Blobby threw her birthday cake on the ground, which then caused her father to assault Mr. Blobby. No wonder why Mr. Blobby was so infamous.

Hej Strider! A person from Slovakia here and I grew up with Raťafák Plachta. I actually liked him because in the show he had the personality of a cute doofus and he didn´t understand a lot of things which then let the topic of that episode to be explained to him (and the kids) by the other host of the show and some other person who was usually an profesional expert on the topic. PLus I liked him cause he hed this nice melow voice. But otherwise yea, his looks are pretty uncanny. P.S. "Slniečko" means "Sun"

Grew up watching Dirt-girl world and I honestly thought the show was 'amazing', and fun fact, she had received a reboot show called Grubby Tv. I got to see the pilot (well assuming that it's the pilot, because originally they wore large plastic hair matching the dirt-girl world style) but it was later change to them just having their hair styled to match the one from dirt-girl world.

There was this one character from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. In the episode everything becomes weird so Mickey and the gang have to fix things. The character was this... door lock that required you to put numbers in it's mouth to unlock the door. The character sang and it was just... creepy to me. The way it's eyes were screws and the way it tilts side to side just scared the hell out of me. I don't remember the name though, but the lock (from what I remember) was purple, shaped like a badge, has a big black nose as the door handle, has screws for eyes and had numbers on it's teeth.

Limbo is definitely not a puppet that would appeal to most kids, but I think he’s pretty cool. I love the concept behind him and it’s neat to see one of Jim Henson’s non-Muppets/Sesame Street characters (even after his stint on SS, he definitely doesn’t count as one of them). I have to say that he reminds me of the Nick Jr “host,” Face, only much more dynamic and less colorful. Limbo is more like Face for adults.

To be honest, EC actually looks really cute to me. His behaviors are just so pure at times. For example, how he cares for the boy that got his knee hurt, and the girl that carried him on her bike. It actually seems really pure to me. :)

My dad used to watch Raťafák Plachta as a kid. He couldn' t sleep 😂😂 At primary school , there was a girl who was bullied by her classmates. They called her Raťafák plachta . I hadn' t got it 'till i saw him. It was pretty cruel. We have more creepy characters here in slovakia. I'm not surprised that kids have to take pills nowadays.

My parents were growing up on Raťafák plachta and they were ok with him and liked the show. I personally dont understand how could they not be scared of it but im glad that when i was younger i didnt know about this show. Also the show is very good for kids and it teachs kids a lot of good things 😅
