Lacking Alan Page? No list of great defensive tackles is valid without him. If he had played in New York or Los Angeles, he'd be ranked No. 1. The same is true for Rod Carew. Seven batting titles and all the sportswriters (What an oxymoron) can talk about is George Brett. As for Merlin Olsen, The Fearsome Foursome was nothing compared to the Purple Gang of Eller, Larsen, Page, and Marshall. They won multiple titles in a tough central division, four league championships, and played in four Super Bowls. How many more sacks might all of them have had added playing in SoCal? All-time lists are, of course, subjective to a degree, but let's not avoid facts in the form of statistics.

@@jaycurlin5391 With all due respect to Jerome Brown he might have had the talent of the #8 DT of all time but...dude played like 4 years...he needs to be #10 if not off the list this seems like a case of where his tragic death got him put way too high he simply didn't play long enough to be considered #8 imo definitely Alan Page belongs on this list

how is John Randle not higher? 8 straight seasons of 10+ sacks is an insane achievement at the DT position. You don't see that at that position, not even in todays NFL.

For the same reason that the logical and obvious #1 choice for GOAT DT was not even on the list. You know, the first defensive player to ever win the NFL MVP Award, what was that guy's name? The guy that played alongside Gary Larsen, Jim Marshall, and Carl Eller. Ohhh, that's right, Alan Page. Gil Brandt didn't even bother to put Page on the list, much less at the top of it where he belongs. And at #2, we should see John Randle. If the diss wasn't intentional, Gil Brandt is on drugs. 🤫
@dalelange845
@dalelange845 11 месяцев назад
@jbsteez443 .... and Randle is the next closest thing to Alan Page, who the idiot completely left off his list. Donald still has a long way to go before deserving to be mentioned in the same conversation with Page or Randle. 😼

Alan Page: Revolutionizes defensive tackle position, first defensive player to win MVP, approximately 173 sacks, two time defensive player of the year, 238 consecutive games played. 11th.
@dalelange845
@dalelange845 11 месяцев назад
Mick Tinglehoff played 240 consecutive games at center, dominated at his position throughout the 60's and early 70s...(only Jim Otto was of similar caliber) ...32 years later, he was finally inducted into the HOF. They are just now making a case, a very strong case, that Tinglehoff was actually the best center to ever play the game. That said, is it really surprising that Gil Brandt put Randle all the way down at #8 and completely ignored the player who should be on the top of the list, Alan Page? Jim Marshall is another prime example of media bias...still waiting for his induction. 🤔
