I agree, when I watched "Spirited Away" and saw all that food that Chihiro's parents ate before turning into pigs, I wonder if all that real was real or made up. I guess I'll have to wait until they come up with a list of top 10, 20, or 50 Japanese founds found in anime.

When I was a kid, I wanted to try Twip -- a fictional multi-purpose food/drink item that TV Land used to "advertise" back in 1996-circa 1999. The ads were parodies of their "retromercials" and showed people in cheesy acting situations promoting the shape-shifting product as good for gravy, a fitness drink, cereal, milk replacement, etc. Also, although it's not fictional food-wise, I remember similarly being curious about Snacko's, a brand of potato chips featured in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Idk whether Snacko's was real or fake (and even if it was real, it was 1984, so who knows if they even still exist now).

FYI: MatPat did a Food Theory where he figured out what the recipe for the Krabby Patty is. It's mostly a fava bean veggie burger. I wish he could figure out the amounts of the other ingredients, though. All he got was 4 cups of fava beans, 1 whole onion, and a tsp of calcium supplement...with eight other ingredients.

the licensing/production trademarks on Berti Botts was a hoot. A toy company had the Potter rights and saw all the candy so subcontracted a candy company to make some. The candy company saw the flavored jellybeans and sub-subcontracted to Jelly Belly because they know how to do it right.

I snorted a bit when Big Smoke's order popped up. Thought it was a funny inclusion. Also, Soylent Green was referenced as a breakthrough tech in the game Surviving Mars (which as expected, gave you a small bit of food when a colonist dies), though it wasn't all too useful, at least compared to other breakthroughs.

Great idea for a list :) I’d like to try many different foods found in movies and literature including Blue milk from Tatooine in Star Wars and the sweets from Honeydukes in the Harry Potter series. Lembas too definitely ! And Willy Wonka’s sweets and chocolate

Jelly Belly jelly beans make Bertie Bott's Every Flavor beans. I was eating some, once. My mom didn't notice that I was only eating the good ones, and ate an earwax flavored jelly bean. I burst out laughing. I actually like the grass flavored one. They taste like lemon-lime.

I remember when Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans became a real candy when Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban was released in theatres. This is different from Jelly Belly’s Bean-Boozled because these were basically a real version of the HP treat. My dad bought me a box and we shared it and I got all the good-tasting ones. Besides, it’s just a gimmick and I personally don’t even think buttered popcorn Jelly Belly beans are that gross- heck, I eat popcorn that’s been drenched in soy sauce so my eating habits are a bit wild!
