I feel like a list where Samuel L. Jackson throwing homages to his other movies would be awesome. I.e. Number 1 on this list, Frozone and Nick Fury seeing a similar helicopter crash into a building, Nick Fury's headstone reading the quote that Jules Winnfeild often recited, etc, etc.
I'm 29. I didn't see Zootopia in theaters; I saw it on Blu-ray. I recognized the godfather reference after I thought about it a little bit. And now that I look back on it I recognized the Jurassic Park reference in Toy Story 2 almost immediately.
Duke Weaselton from Zootopia is also a play on words with the Duke of Weselton from Frozen. Both are voiced by the same guy. And the running gag in Frozen about everyone mistaking his name with “Weaseltown” just makes it even better.
It gets even better when you watch the not-so-great Disney movie, “Home on the Range”. It makes me want to know how long have Disney been putting a Weasley/Wesley joke in various movies?
10 -Didn’t know that 9 -Scares me and didn’t know that 8 -I was a kid at that time and had no idea until one of my teachers pointed that out 7 -Huh? (Faint) 6 -Cool to know 5 -Didn’t know 4 -Everyone laughed at this and I got to admit, this is Disney Classic 3 -Oh, I get it 2 -Cool 1 -What?
“You wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses?” always gets me. It was both well written and well played. Thus, America’s adoration for Alan Tudyk was solidified😆
In Finding Nemo, Bruce the shark is an Easter egg to Bruce the mechanical shark used in Jaws. Also, I thought the Monster's Inc. was a reference to Armageddon with Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck!
Top 3 (In my opinion): 1. Here's Brucy from Finding Nemo 2. Rex finds a way from Toy Story 2 3. Mr Big from The Godfather This was really tough because a lot of them I did not know the references or recreations and it was even tougher for Top 3, I just couldn't decide. I wished the scene in Toy Story 2 with Emperor Zurg being the father of Buzz Lightyear, which is a reference to Star Wars, was in the Top 10 because it is one of the best callbacks or references in movie history. It is so iconic that I would put it at number 1. Also is there a possible connection with the Godfather and Zootopia with that scene of Mr Big? There's a possible theory that Zootopia is an alternate version of the Godfather, something like that! That would be interesting!
I've always loved the classic reference in the Original Lion King where Pumba states "They call me Mr Pig". Referencing Sidney Poitier's "They call me Mr Tibbs"
My favorite is from Coco where Miguel imitates the Andy DuFresne reaching up to the sky in the rain pose when the roar of the alebrije brings water raining down on Miguel and Hector. Nice shout out to The Shawshank Redemption.
They missed the Toy Story 2 Zurg and Buzz scene, similar to that of the Empire Strikes Back Scene where Vader reveals he is Luke's father...was waiting for that, but it's okay! 🤣🤣🤣
I searched for The Swan Princess reference in The Princess and the Frog, and it’s hard to find. the reason is Naveen (in frog form) looks resembles and behaves similarly to Jean-Bob, Odette’s French frog friend, and the sphere of water when Facilier's spell is broken looks just like Odette’s transformation.
well if you look into it.. that was meant to be a love letter to animation as a whole with references to past works. like raymond has red/orange hair that similar in color to tigger. the frog in question does think himself to be the frog prince lol.
A quite fun thing is that the Mulan reference is not the same with the Swedish dub that I grew up with. In the Swedish dub Mushu instead says if you directly translates it: What do you think? Batman?
Disney tops are the Best tops of this channel , and That's why i like it. Happy friday Ms Mojo and i hope to see You soon for more , take care., And God bless You
I got flashbacks of seeing clips of “The Fly” at a bug exhibit in a science museum… along with other horror bug films like “Tarantula” …That was the last time I went to that section of the museum. 😰
Whoever's reading this,I pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day amen
It's too bad this focused on movies because Hal9000 was almost perfectly replicated in an episode of Recess as Sal3000. They even got the same actor to voice the robot.
One of my favorites: in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" when Quasimodo and the gargoyles fight against Frollo and his guards, Laverne impersonates the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz" by sending all of the pigeons upon them, saying "Fly, my pretties, fly!" like the witch did with the flying monkeys. A snippet of the music even plays in the background.
“Wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses on” goes way farther back than Batman. That was a joke reference in Looney Tunes cartoons of the 40’s! Which means it’s either a Marx Brothers gag or vaudeville
You forgot one important one, “Emperor Zurg has been secretly building a weapon with the district I’ve capacity to annihilate an entire planet, I alone have information that reveal me this weapons only weakness.” (Buzz Lightyear) Among many other Star Wars references in the Toy Story movies.
Buzz: And you, my friend, are responsible for delaying my rendezvous with Star Command! Woody: YOU! ARE! A! TOY!!! You aren’t the real Buzz Lightyear, you’re a-you’re an action figure! You are a child’s plaything! Buzz: You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell. Woody: Oh, yeah? Well, good riddance, ya looney!
They reference that one by Angelica actually catching a glimpse of that scene in the movie. My favorite scene is Coco yelling to take a picture after her underwear gets exposed, which several tourists promptly start doing.
Anyone who's ever seen 'The Shining' would spot that ref instantly. I'm not a big fan of scary movies, but even I have watched that one- it's a classic of it's genre.
